NATO gave a promise not to extend its borders eastwards into former Soviet nations and never kept that promise 3 times and the last was 2008 when US announced that they are planning to get The Ukraine into NATO.
In 2014 ,NATO conducted a coup in Ukraine to topple the Russian friendly government and installed a NATO friendly one and precipitated a civil war against the Russian minority in Ukraine and that caused the invasion on Crimea. Putin probably had to invade Ukraine in 2022 as the last straw before it join NATO , meaning NATO would officially be bound to enter a war between Russia and Ukraine.

Putin started a 3 days military operation in Ukraine, we are in the third year running. Using shaheed drones fron Iran and other weapons from China and North korea and still complaining. You are delusional if you think such weakness can survive a conventional war with the US. Look at the numbers and numbers don't lie most times in warfare. Russia's economy is probably the size of texas alone, the US economy is maybe 17 times more than Russia. Technologically, the US leads the world by stats and other measurements. Now lets translate this to military. Russia still smuggles US made chips and hardware to power its war, imagine having a war with the country that you so desperately rely on for tech to power some of your military hardware. This is why Putin always resorts to nuclear threats because everyone will lose such a war. Apart from its nukes, Russia may not be able to beat a battle tested country like pakistan or india.
