‘Dawn’ live is the real mindblower. Hal-ca, guitar, seems on a mission to burn up the guitar strings. ‘Church,’ live in studio is my favorite. The bass intro is unlike anything else I’ve seen or heard.
Such a fantastic band, one of my absolute favorites. Still so young, Hal-Ca is 20, bassist Miyu 21 and his brother Mio on drums 23. But believe me, you have no idea of what they can do before you haven't heard some of their original material, as this was "just" one of their Anime covers. So please listen to their own songs like "Dawn", "Church" or "Gunfire" and get blown away. Thanks 🤘🏻 🙂
I don't understand why you were directed to this song when their original material is way off the charts, these kids have been composing music as a band since they were 11 years old and have been together since they were 10. Haruka is among the greatest guitarists in the world right now Miyu is also one the greatest bassist and his older brother Mio is amazing on drums. Asterism "Dawn" ruclips.net/video/buQPvINJcA0/видео.html behold and be in awe
I personally recommend any of their instrumental originals like - Dawn - there is fantastic fancam version for that "『DAWN』2019/04/20" although the soundquality is obviously not as good as the official and some people prefer the original (I don't). The guitarist and bassist were 16/17 back then. - Church - THEN&NOW But all the "(Live In Studio)" videos they have on their channel are fantastic. Some of their older tracks are also great. As far as the band itself goes. The 3 of them are still young and very talented. One of my favourite bands from Japan, although they recently released a vocal 5-track EP, which I am not the biggest fan of. Guitars: Haruka (Hal-Ca) born November 2002. Bass (and yes, that's a custom 7-string bass by ESP): Miyu born March 2002. Drums: Mio born November 2000. Miyu and Mio are brothers.
What Hal-Ca is playing on guitar is primarily the vocal line of the original song. The original vocalist uses a lot of falsetto which explains why she's playing so high in parts. Miyu (b) and Mio (d) are brothers. And the three of them have been playing together for about 10 years now. They just recently released an EP with vocals. You might want to check the initial video release of "Fiction".
Highly recommended their own songs all Heavy Metal, Church, Dawn, Rising Moon, Lights In The Darkness, Blaze.... according to another reactor that he is also a bassist, tried to order one of the bass from ESP and was told that 7string bass was made by ESP specially for him only...
The "Rising Moon" MV (The Sessions Vol. 2 ) will show you how great this band is =) They have added vocals to some of their music and the lead guitarist has a very nice voice ! Thanks Guys ✌🤘
Halca can shred with the very best ever! Even at her young age! The bass and drums are also great musicians and they're brothers!❤❤😉👍🤘🤘🤘🤘 My favorite 3 piece instrumental band!❤
Straight up... I sent this to my dad, who's a drummer, and his friend who's an experimental metal/jazz bass player who lives in Tokyo. And he seemed to dig it. And man, it's a lot to say, but that they all seemed to love this group, it told me they were something else.
An outstanding composition, the ballad "Dawn", which became the calling card of the young band. Performed four years ago on the stage of a regular club and filmed with a fan-camera, it showed an incredible level of skill, which many famous bands have yet to grow to. ruclips.net/video/buQPvINJcA0/видео.html The solo parts of 16-year-old Hal-Ca still enthuse many masters of the genre, including musicians-guitarists. The young and gifted guitarist's brilliant expressive, charismatic and technical performance leaves even hardened skeptics indifferent.
great reaction! Asterism is my favorite instrumental band, they also started doing some songs with vocals recently, they are a very diverse band, playing different genres of music, they are also very young and incredible Musicians, guitarist hal-ca(2002), bassist miyu(2002), drummer mio(1999). Miyu's bass is specially made by ESP for him. It is not available in the market. I highly recommend 《dawn》 live(the fancam one) as the next song🤘🏻🔥
You guys should listen to their original works. "Dawn," "Gunfire," "Church," "Blaze," "Rising Moon," "Light in the Darkness." They're brilliant composers.
ASTERISM are amazing. You should check out some of their original material, though. Live versions of Light In The Darkness, Rising Moon and Church, or the MV of Fiction, from the new EP (with vocals). Also, please check out SAISEIGA - the MV for Jumble is a good place to start.
The theme song isn’t really metal but they cranked it up in their version . You really need to watch the Dawn video and Church to have your minds blown . Hal -Ca the guitarist now sings on their new ep . Fiction is really good off the new album
Asterism is one of my early discoveries when I first started looking into Japanese rock and metal. They're all great follows on Instagram, especially the drummer Mio and how he has been crafting songs from unconventional instruments lately.
I don't quite understand why you would start a new band reaction with a cover for a piece you don't even know beforehand ... They have incredible songs, I hope you'll check some of them.
That wasn't the best introduction to Asterism to be honest. If you want a metal sounding instrumental, listen to the live concert version of "Dawn" from 2019. That's a Vai-esque guitar instrumental that tells a story, and the amazing thing is it was written when Hal-Ca was around 13. The studio veesion of Church is also a tonal masterpiece on bass and guitar. Both songs are a must listen to truly appreciate how talented these young musicians are.
This handycam of DAWN (live) from 2019, is the one you want - ruclips.net/video/buQPvINJcA0/видео.html The video is rough, but the composition and performances are mind blowing-and very Metal. That they are sooo young just adds to the impact.
Ha are you guys gonna cover this song now?! Asterism isn’t changing guitar styles or tones like Polyphia, but still manages crazy technical stuff and plenty of prog rhythms and arrangements. I just listened to their whole album of covers last night, this one I really noticed the drums, whereas he’s usually hanging out with Alex Lifeson, aka third most noticed virtuoso in the band… Yes Asterism formed in 2014. When Haruka “HalCa” was 12 (now 20, 19 in the red jumpsuit), and already rocking youtube covers of BabyMetal, go figure… btw, I think the two guitars is their way of admitting that the guitar is two tracks. Tho the bassist plays like that live… Here’s a live version with a singer, although spot-check (guitar & Vox) tells me it’s either to tracks or just live vid to studio… but still impressive, likely a bit closer to the original (tho I admit I don’t know the theme song version) ruclips.net/video/JBX06b0SP3E/видео.html , although plenty of other songs to catch, go with popular commenters' choice. i personally like fancam live with Maki Oyama (new solo album out, spent the past year in Aldious) doing classic metal band Loudness's "In The Mirror", sooo much swag for some highschoolers with a pro guest in a small club (HalCa is 16 in this one, brothers are 1 & 2 school years older) ruclips.net/video/3thAXV4laAA/видео.html
Another vote for Dawn ruclips.net/video/buQPvINJcA0/видео.html As previously commented, HAL-CA (Haruka) the guitarist was 16 when this was recorded. The track was first released on the album 'Ignition' (which featured Bootsy Collins and Buckethead!) when HAL-CA was 15 !!!??? This is definately my favourite version, despite the not perfect audio. Also, any of the 'Live in Studio' videos from 2021, especially 'Church' and 'Gunfire' Edit: Wrong link oops :)
This reminds me a lot of Orianthi Panagaris and Steve Vai's music video "Highly Strung". Same white-out stage, similar virtuoso guitar work, with Vai on the 7-string: ruclips.net/video/G7b-_YcACuQ/видео.html
Definitely not a right song as introduction to ASTERISM, this is not even their original song, this just a cover of animation theme song. These are some of ASTERISM original songs : ruclips.net/video/pkiKSBX8JPA/видео.html ruclips.net/video/n6OZRHApn3U/видео.html ruclips.net/video/076UikYGA3Y/видео.html and many many more... ASTERISM not just a band, they are a great composers
It's too bad this was chosen as the first reaction to Asterism. This is not even close to one of their more technical songs and it is just a cover. Not bad but nothing special for Asterism.
‘Dawn’ live is the real mindblower. Hal-ca, guitar, seems on a mission to burn up the guitar strings. ‘Church,’ live in studio is my favorite. The bass intro is unlike anything else I’ve seen or heard.
Yeah, that poor Pacifica is screaming for mercy.
Such a fantastic band, one of my absolute favorites. Still so young, Hal-Ca is 20, bassist Miyu 21 and his brother Mio on drums 23.

Same, it's a pity people keep on directing reactors to those covers, while their original stuff is ten times better!
I personally recommend any of their instrumental originals like

Among the best “jazz rock-fusion-metal-what-ever-you-call-it” bands
Haruka 🎸🔥is a amazing guitarist and she also sings now!
Halca can shred with the very best ever! Even at her young age! The bass and drums are also great musicians and they're brothers!❤❤😉👍🤘🤘🤘🤘 My favorite 3 piece instrumental band!❤
Offset Era should listen to Asterism - Church (live in studio 2021).
They have already been playing together for almost 10 years since they were little kids.
Straight up... I sent this to my dad, who's a drummer, and his friend who's an experimental metal/jazz bass player who lives in Tokyo. And he seemed to dig it. And man, it's a lot to say, but that they all seemed to love this group, it told me they were something else.

They actually do an instrumental cover of Van Halen's Jump, which they did not long after Eddie's death. I think you guys would love it.

If you guys want to see him sweep on the bass try this song called Blaze live…
ASTERISM is great. So is Tokyo Ghoul. Well worth watching f you haven't yet. Every time I hear this song I get sad from the first note.
Metal fusion.
you know guitarist is good when she uses her neck pickup as 25th fret
You guys should start off with Dawn live 2019
Asterism gruppo molto talentuoso!!!Ascoltate anche il brano Church:insane!!!
I like their song moon.
The theme song isn’t really metal but they cranked it up in their version . You really need to watch the Dawn video and Church to have your minds blown . Hal -Ca the guitarist now sings on their new ep . Fiction is really good off the new album
One thing you can say is the ladies of JAPAN dominate when it comes to guitarists........
Hal - Ca sings on their newest video 😏❤️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘
Asterism is one of my early discoveries when I first started looking into Japanese rock and metal. They're all great follows on Instagram, especially the drummer Mio and how he has been crafting songs from unconventional instruments lately.
Please react more Asterism 🎸🥁
Metal fusion,
As good as they are here, this is a step-down for this band. Check out their songs Dawn, Church, Fiction, Blaze or Faced/Burned!
I don't quite understand why you would start a new band reaction with a cover for a piece you don't even know beforehand ... They have incredible songs, I hope you'll check some of them.
Yeah, I thought it was a strange choice.

Do their original songs... they are awesome. Hard to do a cover to something else
Check out Dawn , Church or Gunfire…..

Their anime cover album is popular because anime is so popular. But... their originals are better.
Hey you never came back to Asterism. As much as you liked this one you will ove their original stuff.
The originals they do are soooooo much better, like Dawn
Church is the best song this band....
