This is my fourth time listening to this lecture and still learning new things. I didn’t realize the red blood cells have a jacket of sugar on their outsides. I’ve heard Dr Rogers say, “glycocalex” a million times. Just now realizing what it is. Rogers’ lectures are the dopest dope I’ve ever smoked.

Another perspective: everything that happens is the result of multiple interconnected determining factors- multiple causes and conditions which are interlinked. Therefore it is indeed important to look at all the things that contribute to health and disease. There are multiple places of intervention to avoid a negative outcome. The directly preceding factor is important. (Think of eating a Big Mac and then having a heart attack right afterwards.) Factors that are repeated over and over are important too. (Think of consuming a carcinogenic pesticide every single day in your cereal.) I prefer this way of thinking to the idea that we need to motivate ourselves to be super great like a general who kills lots of people! I’d rather think of myself as a rational actor who cares about others as well as myself. In the case of organics, one thing that motivates me is knowing that the people who grow and pick our foods are exposed to dangerous amounts of these poisons. I also think of our waters being poisoned and the fish who live there. I find the model of us humans as interconnected with each other and our total environment to be more motivating. The dangers with the idea that we must be motivated to be some kind of super- successful competitive winner are that we could drive ourselves to the point of injury (often the case with top athletes) and we can get out of balance worrying about everything to the point of being crazy perfectionists. We are in the unusual situation as a society whereby greed is a top motivator for many businesses who are putting thousands of untested chemicals into our soil, water and air. It seems to me that concern for others as an antidote to the root cause of greed needs to enter our way of viewing these problems. Seeing ourselves as interconnected earthlings is what works for me.

I really enjoy this lecture and conversation - and return just to enjoy it - and I totally agree with the radical viewpoints of dr Peter Rogers and the way he combine radical scientific curiosity with a deep feeling of combining science and Art - and with the aesthetic understanding aesthetic beauty as the language of God to write a book of life. Real rationality has to combine all dimensions of life from the heart - and I hope that dr Peter Rogers might write a book about the scientific- aesthetic dimension of health & life 🎵🌷🎶♥️

The long novels of the 1800s were often serialized in print in the newspaper. Also a note re. GMOs. GMOs are mainly bad only because of the ones that are modified in order to grow when sprayed down with glyphosates. They
glyphosate resistant gmo grains give the other gmo applications a bad name. So. bottom line - eat only ORGANIC if at all possible and you automatically avoid those glyphosate sprayed products.

As far as the feeding time question. Walter Longo (like the Adventists) says to eat bigger in the morning. It has to do with circadian rhythms providing a natural rise in cortisol (your liver drops some stored sugar into your blood naturally) when you get up in the morning and that cortisol level lowers later as natural melatonin rises and makes you sleepy. So dr longo says eat in the morning. It doesn't have to be super early tho so if you want to workout before or write a book chapter or some like that and eat right after that still in the am 9-10 am that would be perfect. Eat lighter at night. if you want to have an evening meal with family eat lighter.

I've been eating 1 big afternoon vegan meal since 2020 (sometimes later, close to bedtime), and I have been able to get many more intellectual tasks done before that meal (morning and early afternoon) than in previous years. The side-effects I noticed are: I eat more than I did, I lost some weight and my muscles got bigger with less exercise. I'm no doc, but I say, why not give it a try for a few months before taking another doc's advice as the best approach?

2:17:30 the private school my kids go to for autism doesn’t seem to notice a difference either after they give junk food to the students. I see the behavior difference at home when I cut out refined/ processed foods, so it’s baffling to me that they don’t see it. They will also dodge the topic when I bring up nutrition effecting autism. The teachers mean well, but the bottom line is profit. Administration won’t even hire a speech therapist for the kids, even though they get $7000 scholarships each quarter per child.

At the start around min 7 - intensity of purpose. I had a friend, he was a member of a city championship handball team (actually the Fuchs teams in WEst Berlin killed in all sports), a team that now is in a pro-league (they naturally all have youth division teams) and dominates. This was in the 70's. He told me the coach taught the kids to really hate, I mean HATE, the other team. I kind of think that is sick - it was a game in a youth league and you are being told to hate... You know what I mean.

It concerns me somewhat that it seens his family is calling him autistic for being so passionate about what he does. I knkw now its all the rage to label incredibly intelligent and rather eccentric people with the autism moniker, but how is it useful? Seems like it is being used in Dr. Rogers case as a sort of name-calling exercise. Perhaps im being too sensitive on his behalf??
