...having seen both Green Day and Rancid at Hollywood Palladium...when the latter played 2nd night of...Epi taph Summer Nationals, night two, July 27th, 1994.... ＄5 tickets and shirts...I had the Fat Wreck Chords 7" of this song....promise you my body was SORE from being In Da Pit for that whole night: Total Chaos, Rancid, Pennywise--Lint's in the crowd with everyone else. Kept It Too Real.
It makes me happy to see him playing it live because Mike is honestly very close to the skill Matt has, but Green Day has always written songs similar to the Beatles where it is to fit the song nothing more nothing less so you dont get as many solos and crazy basslines as other bands, but the musicians in Green Day are all world class at what they do.

They had briefly performed live with Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day as their second guitar player, but Billie Joe decided to stay with Green Day rather than become a full member of Rancid. "Radio" was written in the short time that Billie Joe was in the band, and he therefore was a co-writer of the song. After Billie Joe decided to leave, Frederiksen filled the spot. Frederiksen had previously been a member of the British punk rock band the U.K. Subs.

Umm, i couldnt see or hear the bass the entire time but he played most of the bassline, matts bass parts are not easy but they are not impossible to play by any means, hell half of them are not even that complex. He is a monster, and the pieces he writes is genius but copying it shouldnt take anyone that long especially radio.

What a performance! It's heartwarming seeing Mike Dirnt playing a Matt Freeman bass lick for some reason. I wonder if they paid him a bonus check :)
