I had a '64 Buick Skylark and my tinted vent window shattered when a rock jumped up from the LIE and took it out. The car was 30 years old and finding that glass with factory tint wasn't easy, I found a guy across from Shea stadium that ordered the glass for me and when I went there his worker broke the glass trying to remove the U channel. I was disappointed but the owner found another NOS piece. Cost me $110- 25 years ago! He put the glass into the channel with Black Silicone... I had no idea there was a gasket originally. Great stuff!
Thanks Bud!! Yeah I've seen them use Silicone or that Dum Dum stuff!! I feel sorry for the poor Bastid that would have to remove a glass that was glued in with Silicone for any reason!!☺
Thank you for the video
Thank you for this video....and your vent nut post, spring nut, diagram. When you're taking it apart, thinking you will put it back together next day and it ends up being 90 days, order of things are forgotten.
Details, details, your the guy. Nice job.
Thanks alot Grant!!☺
Wow! There's a lot to those vent windows!
Yeah Buddy!! ☺
i paused this video just to let you know how much i appriciate what you are doing. teaching people the valuable skills you aquired over a lifetime of hard work. you rock roadking!
Thanks alot Aaron!! We appreciate you watching and commenting!!☺
so helpful! thank you sir
...lookin' great ,one bit at a time,,lol.. good one..stay safe...
Thank You Bob!!☺
Nice work there. 👍
Thanks Matt!!☺
looking great
Thanks Tom!!☺
I remember my old man's '52(?) Plymouth had a window crank to open the vent windows.
Nice Buddy👍
Thanks Bud!!☺
Good stuff! Thumbs up!
Thanks Cal!!☺
Love watching and learning from the master. This video is a perfect example why it cost so much to have someone restore old classic cars and trucks.
Thanks alot Bob!! Yeah especially if you're paying over $100/hr shop time!!☺
Thank you for showing the frame removal. Really helped on my project
A OK, enjoying the progress. Thanks for the look.
Thanks Mac!!☺
I would have never thought the fuzzy part of a velcro strip would be suitable replacement for window track sliders!
Yeah it works pretty well, don't know how well it will hold up to the sun but we'll find out!!☺
@@805ROADKING UV can be a bitch, never thought about that.
Tedious work but it paid off!
Yeah Buddy!! ☺
Wow Roady, lots of fiddly delicate work there. Well done for getting through it.
Thanks Mart!! The worst part of the job is knowing I gotta do it again on the other side!!☺
Nice job Buddy, no more whistling vent window frames. The velcro idea is smart too.
Thanks Lloyd!! The worst thing they ever did was get rid of vent windows!!☺
17:23 that's why i paint new rubber with black UV resistant latex paint. Give the poor thing a fighting chance. And the effect of the sun is visible, because after a few years, i have to recoat it, once it starts getting milk-ish.
That's a great idea!! That rubber is almost 60 years old and where it wasn't exposed to the sun it is still very supple!!☺
Wow, the windows are coming out great - that cab will be nice and cozy when it's all done!
Thanks Chris!! Yeah we've been busy lately!! Got the whole Cab painted two tone, got sound deadening matting on the floor, got the dash painted. I just need to get the Professor over to rewire it and help me assemble the front end!!☺
Looking good as always, will be a nice pickup when it's done.
Thanks Larry!! I hope so, just about everything is gonna be new!!☺
"Whooda thought somethin so simple would be such a pain in the balls..?" 😂 every day bud. Nuffa this. 🤙
Interesting video, I leaned how to use real rivets that may come in handy someday. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us RK !
Thanks DL!! Real rivets are fun to use especially if it's something that's gonna show!!☺
Well done, EJ and you didn't even have to use your file!
Thanks George!! Yeah we've been able to give it a rest lately!!☺
God i love your vids... In each one i learn something or discover a new tool. From phosphoric acid to face shield to todays rivot anvil for my air wacker. Lol. Whoda thought. Got a ton ov various rivots too. In original boxes. 👍👍🍺
That's cool!! Solid rivets can be fun to work with, it makes anything look professional!!☺
Thanks for the update video, RoadKing. When it comes time to apply the sound deadening, I’d suggest also doing the inside of the doors, on the outer skin. I did this to my 77 chevy truck and it helped a lot with road noise.
Thanks Greg!! I should have some left over!!☺
Great video.. love the rivet fix.. looking good mate
Thanks Mick!!☺
The little details like these make all the difference in a quality restoration! Nice rivet gun. I am too cheap to buy ATS guns.
I got lucky with that gun!! I bought it used in the box, the Dude only used it once!! Got it for about half price!!☺

What size is it? On the barrel there are 2 flat spots. One usually has a number and an X, meaning 3X, 4X, 5X, etc.

Hey Roadking! I just did all those seals on my '63 GMC. They have the glass channel felt for my truck that you glue in with weatherstrip adhesive. The Velcro idea isn't bad, I bought a complete cab set of glass seals for my truck, I will agree those divider bar rivets are a pain, I made a tool for doing mine.
I remember when you could buy the whole truck in good running condition cheaper than what they want for a weatherstrip kit now!!☺
@@805ROADKING I know I paid more for the cab kit than my brother paid for 66 C20 back in the 80s. I only paid $500 for my 63 in 2017 but my truck was really rough.. I still want to get the windshield replaced in the spring before I say "enough of this"
You should be able to get that window tape from a glass place that replaces windshields.if not let me know I might have some left over.
Thanks Ian!! We were able to find some on the Interwebs pretty cheap!!☺
You have it coming along nicely! In the floor of our 77 f100 I used ice and water shield barrier they make for home building..lol.. its was pretty thick and workable and for the budget at the time.. anyhoot its held up good so far, surprisingly... I didnt in enjoy changing the gaskets in the vent windows.... you make everything look easy.. enjoying this build.. keep up the great job..its going be a sweet truck!
Thanks alot Vic!! I went to Lowes first to get the roofing barrier!! It actually would have cost me more to do it that way!! There are so many different companies making the real stuff now that the price has dropped drastically!! It cost me about half of what it did when I did the Coupe and that floor is smaller than the Truck!!☺
@@805ROADKING the price being higher now is not surprising, heck a 2x4 - a man has take out a loan to purchase..lol.. homebuilding material is nutz! I dont recall the price difference when we did ours but that was almost 7 years ago now.. it had to be cheaper cause I'm a cheap'O.. 🤠👍
I would need 2 sets of bifocals to do that
What ever it takes eh!!☺
Much like us humans things do get a bit loose and floppy as they age... :P
Yeah Buddy!! ☺
805RIVITKING !!
Yeah Buddy!! ☺
It must have come from Dorman!
🤓ROADKING Does Better Work then the Factory does 🤓
Thanks Buddy!!☺
Moring mate, still making me late for work lol :o)
Sorry Mate!! Hope it was worth it!!☺
Talk about the small details,,,, well there ya go.
Yeah Buddy!! ☺
Wonderful work. I don't know whether to be inspired or discouraged! If you don't mind, what is the width on the Velcro that you used? I'd like to give that a try. I'm ready to build my doors, but the division bars are about $75 each from Dennis Carpenter and worse are not in stock anyhow.
Good job, Road King. The sound matting also serves as heat insulation, right?
Yeah Buddy!! ☺
What company did you get your gaskets from? I've used LMC but atleast 3 different gaskets I got maybe 4 years ago are cracked pretty badly already. Also that velcro idea is genius, I'll have to do that on my 63
Thanks Bud!! I used LMC for most of my rubber and I have the same problem!! My door seals are from Dennis Carpenter, they were pricey but well worth it!!
@@805ROADKING Thanks, I'll check em out
Can i just bring my vehicle and fix it up for free. I’ll provide parts
