I'll be glad if my VS-R with Tomb Raider turns up in a couple of weeks but I'm not holding my breath for my Amazon pre-ordered TATE Grip apparently arriving on December 2nd! I hope I'm wrong, but I think there's going to be a lot of disappointed people around the festive period probably mainly due to last minute shipping issues at the busiest time of the year. I'm probably going to make do with what I've already ordered and delay buying any more Evercade products until the turn of the year to avoid disappointment. I truly hope all goes well for them but I'd personally be happier if they just revised the roadmap now to a less congested, more deliverable timescale. Great video as always and keep up the awesome work!
I have no mind for business, but they seem to be getting close to overloading the niche market they've built up. The Super Pockets were a step in the right direction (cheap/accessible), while the Alphas seem like a dead end (picky enthusiasts who already have the cabinets they want from Arcade1up). The Super Pockets need more distribution in the US. I think if an average American family saw a Super Pocket next to some (clearly marked) compatible Evercade carts at a truck stop or drug store, it would click that this is a real supported system and not the bootleg junk that's everywhere now.
Yeah , I'm in the States as well , I only see these being sold , only online Best Buy and Gamestop , Walmart. Be kool to see the *Evercade or Super Pockets* being sold at those places for pickup and buy
I think the Alphas are there to bait the enthusiasts who might collect replicade or quarter arcades. As someone has already mentioned these communities tend to be quite detail orientated on original cab artwork etc so it could backfire. Still, the word evercade has 'cade' in it so perhaps they always planned it. Reckon this could be my main machine though I reckon I'll be in a tiny minority.
Yeah, we have to ask ourselves if we can afford it, and also we should save for the future. I've bought some even though I had some of those games on other consoles, buying them as spares ,but that may not be the best decision.
I only buy the carts I’m most into, so I have no problem with two carts released in both November and December. It just gives me more to choose from. This year fewer carts than 2023 were released. I wouldn’t mind two releases every month. I hope the Alpha:s are a sign of more focus on arcade carts.
I think that they will delay the alpha in november and release the Exp-R at that moment. Maybe alpha will come after christmas. All the carts will be there at their expected releasedates
When Evercade was new I was buying all the carts just because there weren't many of them and they were cheap. Those days are gone and I do like how many offering Evercade is producing. It increases the likelihood that I'll see a collection of games I want. I'm not interested in any of the new Pockets or the Alpha's or the rest of the hardware but I am eager for the Kain, Toaplan and Data East carts.
"You don't have to buy everything." I'm thinking of that day in 10 years when I want to put my entire Evercade collection up for sale on eBay and the value of it is reduced by the fact I don't have Piko Collection 27.
Had to get the woodgrain Super Pocket and the Tomb Raider cart. Will probably buy Thalamus, Legacy of Kain and one of the arcade carts and I think that's my lot for 2024 unless the two announcements are amazing.
I literally just cancelled all pre orders for 2 Alphas and the EXP as I really don't want more dust collecting items in my house. Retro games are good for 5 mins so my current evercade is more than enough for me.
I don't think we'll see any delay to the carts (even the unannounced ones for Nov/Dec). Realistically the VS-R was only ever a colour change and a change to the packed-in carts - no hardware changes. The EXP-R was a redesign though, taking out the mini hdmi, possibly a battery change. My suspicion is that the battery had something to do with the delay. I don't think Blaze wanted any more battery issues with the EXP-R (understandably). I'm less bothered by the Alphas but only because I've not ordered one. I know what you mean with FOMO, but I haven't ordered any of the new hardware (other than super pockets) this time around. I'll keep up with my full set of carts though :) And Blaze have grown their staff, with more of them in the discord, so they are growing as Evercade grows in popularity.
The problem isn't the battery, it's the software that runs the battery. It was poorly designed from release and still they chose to sell a defective product.
@@CrazyBurger I literally have a direct message from them stating that the battery bios was written incorrectly and that they hoped it would get improved via an update.
Hi crazy burger great content so for me all these hardware releases don’t bother me I really look forward to my countercade arcade street fighter and the super pockets I love options but my question first you your opion the Alfa table top how was the buttons joysticks on the regular vs deluxe Sandra was there a big difference thanks buddy
@@GG-sn4cw thanks.. honestly thought the standard buttons were absolutely fine. Sanwa are apparently better quality and longer lasting.. but I'm not an expert in them.
The aspect that disappoints me the most about Blaze is related to this new hardware (the arcade cabinets and the new Hyper Mega Tech units specifically) that is certainly not needed and also very expensive. They're slowly becoming the thing that were initially fighting against: speculation.
One of the carts yet to come has to be a Computer Heros one. Something doesn't add up with blaze tho, they sent out copies of Kain for review before announcing them which if we are brutally honest is a friggin joke, we can't even pre-order it! It's almost as if they are trying to drum up extra interest abusing Kain as a means to cover the loss of this EXP-R or Tate Grip mistake. But yeah not much we can do but wait. Gutted I bought a Tate grip with an R controller trying to save on paying postage. I think in future I will buy hardware related pre-orders separately.
Maybe they forgot about the vent on the back of the EXP and was partly covered? Or a misalignment in the grip for the bumper buttons? I would think if a good amount of people ordering the grip with the EXP-R that would be enough to hold them all back as it would be unfair to deliver to some and not others? You'd have thought any major issues with EXP would have been tweaked during it's life span such as the battery. I do wonder tho if the latest fast USB C chargers for mobile phones damaged the battery? This wasn't really an issue with the original Evercade because it didn't have USB-C. I think Evercade batteries are more trickle charge like other cheapo devices such as rechargeable fans, lights ect. More normal 5v USB as it were.
I'm not fussed with the EXP-R as I barely play my EXP. I do all my Evercade gaming on the VS. Really hoping that the last two carts are Arcade releases with Irem Arcade Collection 2 being my number one want.
You can't go wrong starting off with a Superpocket, like you said they're fifty Quid, and come with a cart's worth of games built in. I'm being super disciplined ATM due to buying too many games over the last couple of years but I'm tempted to collect all the standard Superpockets instead of buying carts purely because for me they tick the "cool toy" aesthetic rather than the "gamer geek" aesthetic of other devices including the SP special editions. Am I looking too far forward by thinking of "next gen" products coming from Blaze? Devices with analogues that can play GCN/PS2/Xbox games could have access to probably the most beloved libraries of games ever made, even without Nintendo representation.
According to Blaze the december releases are the "wild card" and "go down well" carts they hinted at. I only got into Evercade in May/June 2023, and I saw how carts that were not even that old were already creeping up in price, so I get all the carts unless I already own the games somewhere else or have absolutely zero interest in the games on the cart. I'd rather buy a cart and end up having collect dust or selling it than have a change of heart and end up paying $5-20 more plus maybe shipping. As far as hardware, I bought an Arcade1up and a mod kit that allows me to connect my Switch, so I am probably skipping Blaze's arcade machines.
