- Just a Rathalos and Gold Rathian sleeping in a cave, because I felt like it...

I know Rathian and Rathalos are hardly on the same map in Rise. But I wish that, when they were together, they'd do simple little actions like this. It'd make the monsters feel more like animals living alongside one another rather than just roaming punching bags imo.
Ecology was a huge point of focus in World, and we did see Raths coming to each others' aid and guarding each other in their nest. Solid bet as any to predict that MH6 will add even more stuff like that, or at least I hope so.

Little fun fact throughout the series.
When fighting a Rathalos and Rathian, if you end up slaying the Rathian first while the Rathalos is gone, Rathian will have a special roar. This will cause Rathalos to immediately go to your zone.
Rathian has a special property where she will check her eggs when doing wyvern egg missions, usually upon seeing the player with one.
I always tell people to go after Rathalos first when the two are in a duo quest because going after first rathian is a freaking pain in the ass

Makes sense
Biologically speaking, it makes sense that that Rathalos rarely ever faced casuality the same way their mates do, so they didnt evolve to seek help or make their cry for help as effective.
While for Rathian, it could have meant not only her but also survival of her offsprings, hence they evolved to have a more impactful cry for help, where Rathalos responded as fast as they could sensing threat to their mate and eggs.

I had once hunt on both and since both sides were badly injured I ended up with Rathian sleeping and Rathalos being near her. He didnt fell asleep since I showed up

Rathian has her wing over Rathalos, and he doesn't get upset when she nom in her sleep, then the nuzzle into each other. This is too wholesome to be false, that's how they sleep every night.
Y'know, I wonder, why didn't they give Rathian and Rathalos a union attack? Teostra and Lunastra have one, so why not these two, as well?
They rarely appear in the same locale, so that's likely why. I agree though, it would make for a more dynamic fight, which I think the flagship monster of the series always warrants.
Probably because theyre both fairly early game. Silver and Gold totally should have one though, especially considering the player could have a lot more influece over it, considering it would require both raths to be in "Hellfire" state to initiate their union nova.
@@karajohn5504 why not have both Raths have a union attack in G/Master Rank instead of being restricted to one. Monsters do get new movesets the higher the rank.

Things that could be implemented for the raths when they’re together:
Rathian attacks with only physical in the ground and rathalos only fireballs in the air when fighting together
Rathalos bringing food to rathian in the nest.
One rath attending immediately for help when the other one is fighting
Guarding each other when they sleep in turns
Raths attend for vengeance once the other one is killer (the attending rath will be permanently enraged)
Small interactions when they’re together
Combo attacks
Really the only interaction they currently have as a couple is that if one is fighting the other one will tend to fly to that zone and join in.
Something interesting would be to have to hunt Rath's during their mating display, basically one Rathalos and two or three Rathians of his harem duking it out somewhere on the map with special turf wars and AI for the Rathians to primarily focused on attacking the other Rathians.
@@kingofflames738 funny enough, that sounds like a youtuber called unnatural history channel that said rathian would duke it out to become rathalos's mating partner. I can't remember the exact bird that he mentioned though that does this irl.

ah that is just adorable sure they can really kill at any moment if they wanted to but that is still just cute how they are cuddled up together
Just like humans! We understand each other.
I think World did it the best with Monster interaction without any hunter disturbances. There were subtle interactions with monster couples, the Raths, Teo and Luna. Such as if you killed Luna or Teo, the surviving partner if nearby will come to the body of their deceased partner and sit there if you're not with the area. Raths have a small interaction with each others at their nest, where rathian would lay at her nest with Rathalos acting as the lookout, which is similar to how birds behave.
It's why I love World, the dev team put a lot of time into making the world living if you pay attention. Rise is fun, but much of it is for the actions, World/IB is more for experiencing a living and breathing world.

Mine isn't so lucky though, I tame elder dragons. No successful inquiries as of late. Almost had a breakthrough with xeno'jivva but that vanished when it underwent metamorphosis.

A Gold Rathian.... With a normal rathalos. I like this, I think about this sometimes. The idea that rare and subspecies COULD be partnered with the normal variations of their kind. This goes for all monsters.
The idea that two incredibly rare mutations always being with eachother is more unlikely than this

This almost reminded me of MH world. I had the esteemed privilege to see just this. Well not exactly but I wounded both a rathian and a rathalos and both flew home, when I made it to their nest they both were doing their sleep animation and they looked soooo cute. So I chucked two mega barrel bombs and lit they ass up. Took their eggs too.

imagine in MHR when you kill one of them, you'll get a message saying "You are being hunted, careful out of the wildress" and when you do go outside then go back where you killed one of them, you'll get a small cutscene of the other sleeping and seeming like wheeping before standing up and attacking you. it'll be much harder than it would be because of their hatred towards you and seeking revenge

Interesting lore fact: Since this seems to be in a desert Biome, that Rathian lost in the harem of her Rathalos and is staying away from him, so that's not her mate.

@@legendarytat8278 Rathalos build their nests using the specialized mandibles on its lower jaw. Those nests then attract Rathians who become part of the Rathalos' harem. The members of the harem will then fight each other and the one to win will become the Rathalos' first chosen and is usually the one that's with him in the nest. The others distance themselves and retreat to other areas. In the new world that's the wildspire waste.

theyre based off of eagles, so rathian is actually larger than rathalos! a really fun detail I like

Little did hunters realize in the past that Rath species wyverns mate for life. It was fairly common to target the weakest one of the pair for removal of an aggressive couple only to find the other half sulking within the previously owned lair. This ultimately led to an easy follow-up as the widowed/widower Rath would be primarily starved from depression and lack the essential energy to fight off a hunting party.

I can see the attention to detail on the Rathalos and Rathian's heads without them moving so much in game. Rathian's head is smooth and much less jagged, a little rounder on the spikes on the back of her head, like a tiara. Rathalos is completely jagged, like a king's crown.

Fun fact, in actual game lore, Rath species are monogamous creatures and mate for life, meaning that they will only ever have one partner for their entire lifetime. In any occasion if one dies, the other one will do the duties of their deceased partner for their youngs, if they didn't have one, they will just wallow in their nest, depressed until eventually death succumbs them...
This makes me feel good things.
