Hey John give me 7 minutes of your editing skills haha. It's "Good enough" is a key point. We will ALWAYS find things we could of done better but we gotta move on!
These are all very valuable tips and I really love your videos. Regarding looking straight into the camera lense, it depends. I've seen videos with milions of views where the person in the video is clearly looking sideways... Sometimes the content is more important than whether the person is looking into the camera or not. This being said, I get what you meant.
#3 would be a PERFECT sponsor opportunity for a teleprompter company. You can look at the camera while reading the script at the same time! It does often cost hundreds of dollar though.
I have a teleprompter but I often found that if I'm reading instead of talking, it doesn't feel as authentic. Each take might vary but when it feels good enough, it is. For me at least.

@@BambinoDWelds well it’s surprising that all of your shorts are doing decent. 400-600 views each short is very impressive for a person that just started uploading
It is easy to say not to give up,but just remember one thing. everyone started from bottom and now they have reached their top,so just let it keep going on we'll make it.💯
My method for marking a new take is to clap my hands in front of the camera. This functions similarly to a clapperboard in filmmaking. By doing it directly in front of the camera and microphone, it creates a clear visual and audio cue that is easy to spot, thanks to the peak in volume. This approach is particularly useful for multi-camera recordings or when using external audio sources, as it provides a reliable reference point for syncing the footage.
I always attempt to make my thumbnails follow those three steps, brighter colors help more often, either that or higher contrast (basically things need to stick out)
Agreed! The learning aspect has been a lot of fun. I'm sure it's doing wonders for my big brain cuz there are parts that hurt. Lol. Good luck with the channel!
Probably not interesting at all: I'm not uploading for money, definitely not. However, I am trying to connect with my audience. I've been growing the channel for over a year now. I've been liking to post music videos/'opening sequences' for my favorite tv shows as a fan sort of thing(+ I like to edit), but I've been deciding to change things up a little. (Also, adding video thumbnails.) Now, I'm doing trivia and blooper/mistake stuff off of my observations. AND I'm narrowing my niche down a little, and focusing mainly on retro, classic tv. I think retention is going up. Maybe it is since I'm talking. I'm saying what the video is, instead of just expecting the viewers to get it from the title, thumbnail, and description alone. I love talking a lot, and my words are very fast. So, I'm trying to slow down for more clarity.
I have a dog training clicker I use, It works for syncing sound and video. but I all so click the thing like I won at slots in Vegas after I have a good take, before I start a clip, I click it 1 to 3 times depending on my mood. I just stick it back in my pocket or hold it out of sight.
It was funny because when I did my very first couple of videos months I spent a good 3 days trying to find the right spin on my intro of my videos. Looking back, it still was a horrible job. XD But funny enough, I really have a good knack of doing it in one swing every now and then and it pans out very well! 😅 There are times when I'll just wing it and if it seems good enough, I move on, and edit out the things that don't seem to work out (and what I kind of find like a filler or fluff excess part / stuff that actually didn't really interest me at the end and cut that part out too). Surprisingly, I can relate back then when it comes to sending out the message and trying to be a perfectionist about it way too often, it ends up with me going about it in circles so I just redo it from the beginning and it gets done like that as opposed to 5 to 8 different takes and putting it together to make it seem right despite still seeming like a mess -- lol 😂 but now I don't even take near that many takes, trying to get the point across despite trying to reduce the long explanations because I feel it bores people eventually, or people have the notion to not bother (lazy mentality, not much you can do with that lol), but you are right. Just move on. lol as for me, I just get photobomb'd way too often whenever I'm out in public and even if I move to many remote private areas where hardly anyone walks around and there's nothing much to see, people somehow gravitate towards my area and still come to my area and pass through me and my camera pointed elsewhere. Tourists here in Niagara Falls are bizarre hahaha, that's probably one of the things I edit out more often in my videos anyways these days in my situation of video recordings. A long way has come, and I definitely gotten much better now with the videos than I have in the past. Thanks for your experiences you've given to me as well. Irony how I can relate as well and still climbing that mountain 2 years later! 😂 love this video, thank you for sharing your experiences on a relatable level -- and apologies for the long novel post lol
