If you’re having trouble, might want to try with some light dumbbells until you feel comfortable. It doesn’t take a lot of weight to stimulate hypertrophy.
No, don’t copy exactly because everyone’s anatomy is different. This is the problem with fitness gurus online. She has short torso long legs so she goes bar below knees. For people with long torso and short legs, it can be performed with bar above knees. Also, arm length can influence the optimal position, too. Edit: Referring to RDL, not deadlift. But it’s the same for the starting position of a deadlift. Standard vs Sumo. Anatomy matters!
Wow that’s perfect! Perfect explanation, I’ve been struggling with my form for RDLs for a while now and comparing and contrasting it to a normal deadlift (which I have great form in) REALLY helped me distinguish between the two and fix my form for the RDLs.
@@aoutsky if you can't keep the form if you load the weight you're not strong enough for that amount of weight. Unload and train til you are ready step up while keeping good form
@@mariaasmrr stiff leg targets hammies; regular targets glutes! The more you band ur hips back, the more your stretch and target ur booty. But with stiff leg, there’s less range of motion and you stretch your hammies more instead. You can google each one yourself, easier to see it visually than explain in words 😂
Now I get it. While my trainer asked me to do regular deadlifts, I was doing RDLs and was confused when she told me I was doing them wrong. I thought these two are the same thing but they are absolutely not. Thank you for the accurate explanation!
This was awesome! First time getting clarity on the difference in a way I could understand. In my head, a quick cue seems like the RDL = "V shape" with the body since youre bending at the hips, and the DL = broken V because the knees move, so I remember the difference quickly.
Oh my god this helped me see the difference so clearly. The other day I was thinking “Romanian..dead lift..” and “dead lift” ..they’re like the same. But this helped me a lot to see the difference thank you!
I’ve been trying to do normal deadlifts and have been doing Romanian deadlifts instead🤣 I’m so used to “Good Mornings” that hinging my knees feels like I’m doing a squat. This was extremely helpful
I prefer to do rdl, but go further down with anything between 16kg kettlebell, ir bar 17.5kg or 20kg. Sometimes deadlift with lower weight, like 15 kg or 17.5kg. sets of up to 3 sets of 10 to 12.
Did rdl's yesterday to the max and i honestly felt like my hips got fresh air the feeling from there was OPEN...🔓 The very first time i felt that😂it was the weirdest thing ever, i loved that "sensation"😅
Yes slight bend compared to bending all the way she shows you perfect example here notice even in the second exercise she’s definitely bending slightly at the knee just slightly 😉🤗🥰
Absolutely! I sometimes don’t even like to play music while I work out because I get to distracted singing and will subconsciously follow the rhythm of the song and it’s very important to focus on controlling your movements and keeping a slow pace. It’s meditative in a way, you’re learning to listen to your body and move accordingly. That’s how I got myself to like working out, by connecting with the spiritual side of it!
I have a question.. I know that to lift something heavy you have to start with a squad position because otherwise it will have a bad effect on your hips. So what's the difference between the deadlift movement in this video and lifting weights with your hips?
I’m so sad I can’t seem to do this right no matter how many videos I watch I feel so dumb at the gym wish I had someone to show me how to do it or tell me what I’m doing wrong
I find RDLs really difficult. Good to see a comparison from the side like this 👍🏻
If you’re having trouble, might want to try with some light dumbbells until you feel comfortable. It doesn’t take a lot of weight to stimulate hypertrophy.
Back extensions are a good replacement for RDL and they are less intimidating
I was trying to find the difference and finally I saw a visual was really helpful!
@@Nate00084yes! I love using dumbell for this
I needed this lol I just do my best to copy what you do!!😂
✨🙏🏼🫶🏻
No fr! That's what I do!

Oh my goodness... Out of all the videos you are the only one Ive ever seen state this. Thank you...taught me alot!!! 💪🏿💪🏿
I watched 4 shorts and this one was the most helpful and easy to understand. Thank you 👍
Thank you 🙏🏼
I have fallen in love with RDL after a hamstring injury. I has helped me immensely!
Thank you for pointing this out! I never knew how to do deadlifts right. I didn’t realize we had to bend our knees that much. I appreciate the tips!😊
❤️🙏🏼
Wow that’s perfect! Perfect explanation, I’ve been struggling with my form for RDLs for a while now and comparing and contrasting it to a normal deadlift (which I have great form in) REALLY helped me distinguish between the two and fix my form for the RDLs.
Omg same
Both look the same to me. When the barbell is loaded, she won't be able to go that low in a DL and it will look the same as RDL.
@@aoutsky if you can't keep the form if you load the weight you're not strong enough for that amount of weight. Unload and train til you are ready step up while keeping good form
very useful these videos
this is the first time i know that RDL and deadlift are not the same 🤣😅
thank you coach ❤️
✨🙏🏼
THANK YOU SO MUCH. This is the ONLY video I’ve found that actually makes the difference obvious !!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!
also remember there’s two types of RDLS: stiff leg and regular, one targets mkre hamstrings and the other targets more glutes!
Yes! And then there are also tons of variations on top! 👌🏻💥
The fuck
Would the regular RDL be similar to DL?
which targets glutes and which one is hamstrings?

Always make sure to keep the shoulders back.
I Needed this! Was stretching my hamstrings while lifting for my back muscles. Thank You so much
Thank you for sharing. So many people get this wrong.
Finally someone explains the difference! Thank you!
You’re the only person I’ve seen so far actually do these right
Thanks for looking this kaykay

Challenging questions for us! 💯💪Thakns so much!🙏💚😘
Beautifully explained
The best tut for deadlift!

Awesome dedication! Your progress is really impressive. Keep pushing those limits, you're doing great! 💪🔥
Wow after all these years i finally get it lowkey embarrassed 😭 thank u!!
I didn’t even know there was a difference
Ty for this
I am surely grateful to you for explaining thank you
Thank you - my pleasure 🤗🙏🏼
Okay this is perfect!!! Instantly subbed.
Perfect demo👌
Thank you!!!!! Watched so many and this is the one that helped my form!
Omg, I used to think they were one in the same 😩. Thank you 💪
Me too
to add even more, there is "straight leg dead lift" its the mix of romanian and casual dead lift
I've been doing deadlifts this whole time. Omg. Rdl? Who? I just started so I'm trying. I'm trying. 😮💨😮💨
Will use this as reference!
The explanation I needed. Thank you!
This really helps!
It is definitely big big difference ❤
Nicely explained ❤
great video, you can see the diffrence
This was great!! Hinging at the knees was what I wasn’t doing.
Informative❤
If you look closely, she is doing a deadlift
Oh my god this helped me see the difference so clearly. The other day I was thinking “Romanian..dead lift..” and “dead lift” ..they’re like the same. But this helped me a lot to see the difference thank you!
Just needed this

Didn't even know there was a difference💀 Thanks!
You make this look so easy. I am having a party trying to connect with my muscles’s group. ❤
DEADLIFT! 💪💪💪💪
I’ve been trying to do normal deadlifts and have been doing Romanian deadlifts instead🤣 I’m so used to “Good Mornings” that hinging my knees feels like I’m doing a squat. This was extremely helpful
This is great! Thanks!
She's wrong...Your knees should always stay straight when doing any type of deadlift....with more weight added...it could cause a back injury...
Thank you because I was soo confused
Thanks love
perfect form
🙏🏼
Awesome, thanks alot
First video I've ever seen actually explaining the difference and not just putting the two side by side and expecting you to notice what's different.
Also, Romanian Deadlifts start at the top of the movement. Deadlifts start from the floor.
That’s true! 🙌🏼🙏🏼❤️
Squat, bend and snap VS. bend and snap... I think I got it
You're genius😂,thx, I tried and it worked
Thank you
Gazo best french drill singer

Great😍😍❤️🔥❤️🔥 If we do this movement without weight, will the hips be shaped?
Deadlift start/end at the floor, and RDL start/end at the top.
Yes 🙌🏼❤️🔥
Did rdl's yesterday to the max and i honestly felt like my hips got fresh air the feeling from there was OPEN...🔓 The very first time i felt that😂it was the weirdest thing ever, i loved that "sensation"😅
oooh no lo sabía!!! I didn't know it 😯👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Why not add a commentary over it.. it gets so much easier to grasp and understand
Deadlifts= Think shaving your shins. You will never forget form hehe
Omg I had no idea now I know thanks for info lol
First is one squat❤
For anyone who wants to know the song: Gazo - Celine 3x
You're my hero! ❤
Now lets see you woth that form with weight
I have been doing RDL’s for 2 years and just started deadlifting. 😅 I’m trying to get my form right cause I end up doing RDL’s lol
💪
What is this song I’ve been listening to this video on repeat on the gym !! 💪🏽🏋🏽♀️🏋🏽♀️
I thought deadlift start from the bottom and RDL’s start from the top.
Yes they do also. 🙏🏼
Thank you very much
But they say bending in the knees a little more for rdl helps target glutes
Yes slight bend compared to bending all the way she shows you perfect example here notice even in the second exercise she’s definitely bending slightly at the knee just slightly 😉🤗🥰
good thank you
I always feel slightly off doing RDLs. Like that one video of Vanilla Ice describing the difference between Ice, Ice, Baby and Under Pressure.
They targets same muscle?
Thank you. I needed this. Does anyone know this song? Thank you .
entendido Kay
Great demonstration, thank you.
Lesson learned.
tankyou ❤❤❤❤❤
It a like traditional Deadlifts incorporate a squat and Romanian dont. Its just a hinge movement vs sitting down
Is one more glute focused vs. the other more hamstring focused?
Baddie🔥🔥❤xxx
I try my best, but whatever comes out, thats it.
So for RDL’s, we don’t need to squeeze when we come up?
Before they called it RDL's we called it straight leg or stiff leg deads
🤝🏼
Wow your hair grew fast or is this an older video of you??
What does these two target different forms target? Or are they both glutes?
What’s an alternative for someone with a low back injury ???
So basically you’re working out your brain just as much trying to focus on what kind of lift you’re doing.
Absolutely! I thought at first they were the same, only the RDL didn't touch the floor
I have a question..
I know that to lift something heavy you have to start with a squad position because otherwise it will have a bad effect on your hips. So what's the difference between the deadlift movement in this video and lifting weights with your hips?
Name of the jam please? Ty
I’m so sad I can’t seem to do this right no matter how many videos I watch I feel so dumb at the gym wish I had someone to show me how to do it or tell me what I’m doing wrong
I want to work my lower back, which one should I do ?
Why does my lower back hurt when I deadlift as shown, but not RDL?
So wich one is right or wrong ?
It’s both right. Both different exercises and different focus. 🙏🏼
Please answer me do u think I can gain weigh and muscles by only using 20 kg barbell or dumbles
It’s not a DL unless your starting from the ground hence the term “dead”. What you showed was a RDL and then a SLRDL.
