Amazing Congratulation! My father love to play this piano piece from Franz Liszt during his early Piano Studies on the Liszt Academy on Early 1940`s from his teacher was Ernest Dohnanyi.
This has to be the best piano composition of Franz Liszt ,second only to his Sonata. Sublime, the ultimate inspiration! I wish the middle section was a bit slower or perhaps just broader....
Katsaris is in sovereign command of but not 'above' the music. Nor does he wallow in it. He understands and respects it. Having heard Hough, Arrau, Tinney, and Korstick among many others, this is the performance I recommend.
As expected, a brilliant performance of this beautiful work, one of my favorite pieces of Liszt. Unplayable for my hands though, would need some more centimeters.. :/
Merci maestro, I played this for 50 years and I have learned something new from you. Thank you. I wonder have you changed your interpretation later in your career ?
There is a video on here with a comparison between the takes of Hough and Kosrstick of this piece, and I think both are better. I am a fan of Katsaris, but consider the title of this work. It is supposed to be profoundly contemplative and not something for Ace Liberace to be nonchalantly played in Las Vegas at some gala evening.
I just feel it’s too fast. And I speak humbly as a pianist who has played this. There’s too much bravura where there should be awestruck breadth. It’s a benediction, not an exhortation. Arrau captures the mystery and majesty as does Julien Libeer.
And your opinions don't matter. Nobody knows who you are as a pianist but we all know who this maestro is, right? So keep your worthless shitty comments to yourself, little one.
Vraiment superbe. Dommage que quelques accelerandos remplacent les élargissements, ce qui retire parfois en force et en sérénité, mais sinon très bien joué. Pas fan non plus des fioritures...
It's too fast, the inner melody is lost. Liszt made his music in such a way that technique should never overshadow the music. This is too often the case unfortunately.

Quelle bénédiction d'entendre et voir Monsieur Cyprien en train de jouer les œuvres de Liszt
What a performance. I don't comment much, but I love this piece and this performance. What a beautiful interpretation.

Wow ! Does your father know Cziffra or Annie Fischer when he studied with Dohnanyi in Liszt Academy ?
i realize I am kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good website to watch newly released movies online?
For me the benchmark recording of this piece, best ever! I still have the whole TV-show somewhere on an old VHS-tape... Merci Cyprien!

This guy plays it WAY too fast and WAY too muddled, would not recommend him as the intro to this piece
Juste sublime ! Merci Cyprien

Steven Hough is very special, he tends to play Liszt as it was Bach. Not always my cup of tea, but always very interesting to hear.
C'est vraiment une Bénédiction vous entrendre! Merci de le partager.
Really love this interpretation !
This is my favorite performance and interpretation of this piece by far and I can't get enough of it. I mean the phrasing is just otherworldly!
What a joy to listen to and watch. Thank you!
Amazing! You are such a great Liszt player!!!
Merveilleux~
Excellente interprétation Cyprien, vous jouez cette pièce parfaitement 😊
Bravissimo!
This is awsome
Sublime.❤️

Lovely performance!!
Tears in my eyes within the opening minute. I have visions of ripples across the ocean as the sun sets, or rises.
e pur si muove
Muy creyente franz. Lizst. ❣️. 🇮🇷. México.
thanks forever

@@seans5631 Wow, there’s some maturity right there.
@@seans5631 you're a very disrespectul person. Be a little more humble dude...
absolutely agree with Michael Gast
Agreed. Great technical performance, but this piece shouldn’t be played in under 15 min.
I really have to wonder how a man that was so religious at on instance, could be so wild and libidinous at another

Looks a lot like a C. Bechstein :)
Überirdisch. Katsaris at his best.

Superbe brushing😆😆
Bof bof😆😆
