For anyone trying this, it's much easier to sperate the disc changer from the screen and then proceed to tearing the screen down.
I know this is an old video but some people's new cars are old from others.. this video is on point, I. ws following a write down fm other source but things were too complicated, this way saves time, I almost mess it up with the last connector, it's so little and I put it up side down, I twisted the pins, my wife who is super detailed came to the rescue and fixed it. great video thank you so much..

I am hoping and praying it will fix itself because it is unavailable for my year and can't afford to take it to have it replaced!

I just finished this job. Here’s a little tip, when taking off the air vent, declip it from the bottom with your trim piece remover, use the thinnest one you have to go between the radio and the air vent, and use another one to go side to side. This way you will not destroy your dash.

Thanks for the video. It was the best example of diy that I have seen. Clear an understandable for anyone who knows how to follow simple instructions. The only thing I will do different is try it before I put everything back together. Excellent video 👍👍

Excellent video! Took me about three hours also. I'd suggest trying it before bolting it back on. The screen I purchased already had the tape. Also taking the picture of the back of the unit showed me nothing was plugged into one of the blue female plugs. Great suggestion. Well Done!

In the absence of any physical damage to the digitiser, isn't simply re-seating the ribbon cable a possible fix? Digitisers are expensive.

I live in Austria but ordered the touch-screen linked in the description. It works great but the only thing is that there is ´´rainbow´´ effect.

My screen works whenever I touch it and has full functionality. My issue is the screen looks glitched and like it’s broken. There aren’t any cracks I can see but I just wanted to know if replacing the digitizer would solve my issue.
Sounds like the digitizer might need to be replaced. I would replace it.

Sounds like a loose connection at the ribbon cable or maybe something is still touching the screen?

Dude my digitizer was starting to go and had lots of issues I remember trying to fix it one day and I tapped it a little too hard and wow those things are so brittle the whole thing spiderwebbed. I’ve been needing this video so bad cause dealership said they will only replace the whole system I was like hell no they were charging $3k
Just as a reference, the digitizer still works to this day!
I followed through with this, but at the end after plugging in everything as it was. The screen didn’t turn on, nor did the ac buttons work. The clock, radio and nobs still worked tho.
Might be a blown fuse.
@@FixiT-Rick Do you think so? I did the entire process while the car was off. Also would you know if there is a any specific fuse that controls the cars screen and ac?
@mrjohndoe6981 It’s always something small that stops a device from working. Loose connections or blown fuses are very common. I believe you can certainly find the issue!

Did you tried to calibrate? Before changing ?
No, because calibration improves where you touch the screen to turn things on. The screen itself was defective because it was changing the radio stations without touching anything.

Digitizer screens are usually all the same. They all have ribbon cables for power and communication. Make sure that you select the digitizer that is designed for your car.
I broke my center cent as carful as i was 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️

Hello! I tried every single thing you did, ordered the exact digitizer, put everything back in its place & for some reason mine did not come on :( I don’t know where I went wrong or if it could be a different issue? Please let me know
Great job so far Kiarra! Make sure the little ribbon cable is all the way in. I believe there might be a little flap that holds it in place. I would look for those two things.

Yeah that ribbon cable can be tricky. It’s delicate and is the most important step in replacing the digitizer screen. Great job! 👏
Hey Rick! So the last week or two my screen has been randomly COMING ON & allowing me to click through the map but then it suddenly glitches out & shuts off?! Can it be electrical ? I don’t think it’s a fuse, but I’m thinking maybe a wire needs to be replaced ? It’s driving me crazy!
Do you know what the dark blue plug is for on top? Mine wasn’t plugged in and I can’t find the plug
Interesting. I did see extra plugs, might be for maintenance
That's only if you have Mark Levinson. So if you don't have it, don't worry about the blue plug.

Haven’t had any issues since it’s been replaced.
@@FixiT-Rick so no rainbow looking colors on screen. If that’s the case then I’m sold as it’s hard to find a aftermarket one that doesn’t do that!
I replaced this for a friend and she said no color issues.
I did this and my screen started working but my radio wasn’t working after I put my screen back.
And yes, I put everything back in place
The radio cable might not be in all the way.
Replaced digitizer, still doesn’t register when the screen is being touched. Would resetting the system help with this? I’m not sure what other issue it could be.
Loose connection at the digitizer would be a good place to look.

Only something small would stop that from happening. The digitizer screen must be connected properly in order to turn on.

I would pull the ribbon out carefully then put it back in. Sometimes, ribbon cables need to fit just right into place.

New digitizer didn’t work… now what
There’s a little “door” that holds the ribbon cable from the digitizer, I would make sure that door is securely closed. It basically is what’s holding the ribbon cable in place.
