That vocalist is absolute fire. Amazing voice. You could use anything on that vocal and it would sound amazing, to be honest.
Yeah its almost like cheating :P she is just so talented I would listen to her sing in the worst acoustic space imaginable... and its frankly very hard for me to pay attention to the reverb with her singing. Dont get me wrong, great video and I will buy the darn thing tomorrow, but the lady... just the dry acapella will do for me just fine thank you :)
Even in my cellphone this reverb makes me fell that sweet sensation of vintage sound.

I just read that the remote has another function. It fills the part of a USB dongle for copy protection. Very clever to build their copy protection into the controller, instead of a separate USB key locker.
that's the main reason why i wouldn't buy it, i already hate dongles but to take a controller everywhere with me to use my bought software ....naaah
I can definitely see your point friend. If I traveled with my system, it would be a hassle to carry extra items. Fortunately, I'm stationary, working from a single studio. USB ports are like currency around here. You never have enough of them lol!!!! I hate dongles too, but I can understand why a software company would do anything in their power to protect their products from copy theft. Take care, and thanks for posting.

Sounds terrific, very flexible without having ten thousand options to drive me crazy. Reverb is one of those things where less is more. Just picked one up from Sweetwater, looking forward to using it.

Yeah, I’m just tired of dialing it in every time, and I’ve never been consistently happy with flexible tools like Pro-R, Valhalla, Trueverb.. I just want a good range of usable reverbs and be done with it.

This is a dilemma. I was about to get the LiquidSonics Seventh Heavan (Bricasti). It sounds really good. The TC only costs $50 more, and you get a controller too 🤔 I might have to rethink, after this review. Thanks, David. Take care!

I was listening hard for this to come through in the mid frequencies but it never did. It’s very pure and clean sounding.
Tbh i haven't heard a reverb released in a couple years with a metallic ring but this does sound xtra clean

Easy to hear the difference with the DVR250. Next level sound!!!!! Any ideas on how much processing power it requires? I'd love to find affordable hardware that sounds like this.

WOWW!! NOT ONLy does it sound superb but, the hardware allowed you to easily flip through settings. Seems alot more fun and keeps the creative juices going! Must buy!
There are so many plugins on the market. I almost forgot about tc. But it's such a great sounding reverb (delay, chorus etc.). It's as good today as it was 15 years ago. Such a great company. (Now it belongs to Behringer :-(

Seems very good. The idea of shipping with controller is great. I really would know how this efx copes with Melda Production MTurboReverbMB which is in my opinion the greatest and most versatile reverb plugin right now. It's deep in editing, modulating, even programming, has multi-bands and is excellent sounding. I would love to see you doing a test or a comparison with it. I subscribed you channel. I like your presentations and the calmness in them. Cheers

Love your reviews dude. I like the idea of these controllers. It would be great to get the tc range (delay, reverb, expander) of these controllers and slot them in a desktop case. These combined with something like Softube console would give users a great hands on experience and make you experiment more, rather than cycling through presets.

sounds amazing, but I don't think this needs to have a dedicated hardware controller I have a control surface for that. once they release a version with just the plugin I will buy it in a second

Wow sounds great. One question for anyone who has tried it. Let's say I have this plugin on the inserts on 3 or 4 different tracks. Do I need to open the plugin instance for each track to control it, or does it work if I just select the track I want to control without actually opening the plugin insert on the screen....then press the switches on the unit?

It sounds great but being VST 2 not 3 not it not worth touching, Steinberg are phasing VST 2 out, I guess everyone else is too

Damn you!!! Just when I thought, "I have all the gear I need now", you come along with a $300 reverb that after watching this video, I now HAVE to have.
@@mixbustv while i have many reverb plugin choices, my favorite being Lexicon, i find this hardware elegant, and easy to dial in great reverb settings withought some of the complicated choices in other apps. Like filters, and low/high pass. This unit is sweet.
I wish every plugin would come with its own controller.
@@nickmathews6226 I'd be happy with a couple of EQ and compressor controllers. Say a parametric EQ, and a Pultec style EQ. Then a 1176 style controller and a la2a one. That would already do a lot for my RSI without having to fiddle around with generic DAW-controllers.
Nice verb, for the price that’s insane! Buy a bricasti M7 if you want the most insane reverb available! Changed my world, but was an additional $4800AU, so you got a bargain

@@mixbustv Arrived the other day. Sounds absolutely awesome. Definitely not replacing by Big Sky or Blackhole for big sound design driven stuff but I totally get what you mean when you say it's a workhorse. It sounds great in a mix on more traditional instruments or vocals - no dialling in at all, just open it up and good to go. Easily my new go-to. The box one sounds wicked when you slap it on a clap too. Just a shame it doesn't work well on drums although to be fair, I've still to this day never found a reverb that doesn't sound grainy with transients other than Pulsar Modular's Lunar Lander.

Sweetwater sells this for $349...I went to Thomnn's site, and ironically when switching the shipping to U.S., it lowers the retail price and together with shipping comes to $2 less than for Great Britain...LOL Weird.
That's because the sales tax is removed when the US is selected. Pretty much everywhere in Europe has 20-23% VAT.

It sounds awesome, yes, but my feeling is that it is not something to add to your studio until you have a very thorough knowledge of reverb and how to apply it...as a relative newcomer to recording and mixing I feel I would get very bogged down with the controller, and end up with a very bad case of fuckarounditis...
@@mixbustv ok, I guess I can see your point on that...I'm looking at from the point of view of someone who just uses RVerb for everything...I deleted most of the delays and reverbs from my system and just stick to RVerb and MMDelay...and that was BEFORE I saw your video on fuckarounditis...

The only problem with TC Electronic is that they tend not maintaining their plugins, happened quite often that you a TC plugin, two weeks later it doesnt work any more.
How does it compare to the UAD EMT 250?
The UAD plugin uses the same algorithms as the original EMT, and Dr. Brian Blesser, who designed the original says it's supposed to be a bit-perfect emulation. That said, it's digital, there is no magic involved in emulating it, so this TC Electronic emulation probably sounds just as good. You get a controller with the TC one, but that honestly seems to be a bit of a gimmick? IDK.

The TC 4000 contains the EMT 250 algorithm, as well as TC’s stunning EMT 140 plate emulations too. Not sure if it’s the same algorithm as used in this DVR version, but it has the same parameter set, and sounds utterly gorgeous.
I can never get in touch with customer support at TC or Music Tribe. I have several of TC's products and need some help. Any ideas would really be appreciated. Thank you..Peace

The top unit? No it's a MOTU 8pre-ES but I did have one of those Lexi in my old studio funny enough. Not horrible, not worth going out of the box for those effects

Have you ever tried the Seventh Heaven plugin? And if so, what you think about that plugin and which one would you recommend?

Which Bricasti Impulses do you use? I only found the Free "Samplicity's Bricasti M7 Impulse Response Library".
The 7th is also based on impulses. Is there a difference between the IRs you`ve got and the 7th plugin?
@@mixbustv I`ve tried the demo of the 7th yesterday (the small version not the Pro) and this thing is very smooth and transparent. I really like it. But with the FabFilter Pro-R I can get very similar results so now I have to check the Bricasti IRs and the best of all this IRs are completely free.

@@mixbustv Hey David, I checked now these Bricasti IRs and compared it with the 7th and its almost exactly the same. 99%. The 7th plugin does something with the IRs who makes it more enjoyable ...like a little bit rounder and fuller but only like 1% so Im pretty sure I stick with Bricasti IRs ...and free its always a nice thing:)
I have also compared different IR loader like the Waves IR1, LiquidSonics Reverberate, HOFA IQ-Reverb and a lot of freeware but the freebies are not able to load true stereo IRs.
So if you still using the Waves IR1, I would recommend you to try the HOFA IQ-Reverb. Its way more easy to load the IRs and the sound its almost identical to the 7th. The Waves is less defined and kind of muddy in comparison with the HOFA.
So thanks again for the Bricasti IR tip!

@@mixbustv Yeah HOFA making very functional and transparent tools, actually very underrated.
One cool thing about the IQ-Reverb (what I just found out today) is that the IR you load in to the Reverb is automatically saved in the project file of your DAW (optional setting) ...very handy!
And the Mod section of the Reverb is also very nice. It makes the static IR more alive and in some cases more natural.
I spent a whole day now with the Bricasti IRs (loaded in to the HOFA-Reverb) and the 7th Heaven and man I could not creat the same vibe with the IRs so I guess I have to buy this 7th thing!
First I thought the difference is about 1% and not worth the money but as soon as I build the exact same presets with the exact same IRs and try to match the sound the difference becomes more obvious and there is definitely something going on with the 7th :)
Maybe next time if you need some Bricasti spaces try the 7th again :)
