Dr. Evas is a huge symbol of feminism herself- her confidence, eloquence and knowledge explains the concept from start to finish. I think her view is from the standpoint of protecting relationship between the sexes with the psychological point of view of fighting or facing the problem and not each other. The grandmother mentioned who tore her daughter's book was probably doing what she thought was best. She was probably afraid that her daughter would lose her ability to attract a suitor because education would give her a modern or foreign way of thinking that was challenging a woman's abilities and place in society at the time.
Dr Evas, I like that you gave graceful and profound firsthand experience submissions. Those nail the point home and dry The point of food habits is so real in our society. Imagine my beloved loving grand mother Dinah used not to eat fish, eggs etc....Apparents it was a ""taboo". Such food taboos disenfranchised women who need the proteins more each month and especiallt when carrying a baby. Such taboos are based on ignorance of the food values.
This is the first time I hear a mature conversation concerning feminism. Ladies, you did well. We should have Bev more on the show. There is need for us to recheck our enemy, strategy and character for us to win.
Ladies... This has been a very refreshing conversation. Very brilliant points raised and I love that it was a rational conversation not shying from the gender realities that we face in our society. I am one who loves the idea of recognizing women as equal and not second class citizens in society but later got weary about the extremes that feminists went to. It is true that the idea was hijacked to propagate differences that would eventually hurt both genders unnecessarily. As Dr. Evas correctly stated, even a good idea can fail because of a strategy which is lacking. It is true that we lost it when aggression and bashing the male folk became the order of the day. I agree so strongly with Dr. Evas' submissions. There are feminists who are mothers to boys and yet earn a living tearing down and decampaigning the male folk. What they forgot was to advocate for a balance which is the Godly way. Remember unbalanced scales are an abomination to the Lord. Bev, I like your points and especially that you highlight that being empowered should be looked at as a thing for social good and not just selfishly. And that a female professional should not be looked at as lesser when she switches hats to be a mother and a wife. I have seen women who look so lowly on a woman tending to her motherly and wifely sides. This is totally distorted thinking..denying their true nature as nurturers. A woman should be appreciated and supported by both genders in her abilities across the board. And so should the male folk. They should be appreciated and supported. I find it sickening that the term gender has been skewed to mean and focus on the female folk. As such most programmes have instead created an imbalance rather than solve the problem. Now the boy child and I dare say many men are in a vulnerable position. The girls have been overly favoured over the boys and yet the reality is that even boys today are vulnerable and face the same economic realities as the girls. They too are orphans or poor or raised by single mothers or fathers. They too are victims of broken homes. They are not seen and yet they too are facing very unrealistic expectations of masculinity pressed on them by society. Many are depressed, disillusioned and quite frankly angry and disgusted by the feminist movement as it is being practiced today. This fuels resentment toward the female folk and inevitably gender based violence as well a breakdown in family relations. These are some of the reasons why despite all the initiatives taken by the State and CSOs to address the gender disparity issue, gender imbalances persist. The whole thing is unbalanced and is naturally yielding a backlash. It has largely been mismanaged. It is not supposed to be about pitting one gender against the other but encouraging mutual respect and harmonious coexistence. These boys and girls will eventually marry. If one is neglected, they both will suffer. Gender justice only comes with a balance. Just like Rachel I too have learnt a lot from this conversation.
Thanks a lot Irene for this great and profound additions to the conversation! Yes, we always need to remember that, both men and women, girls and boys will need to live together harmoniously! Emotional reasoning is the number one enemy to such well meaning initiatives! We’ve really lost it!
I feel like i completely misunderstood Beverly's position on feminism on Bump Love. This time I have been enlightened and I feel like as Racheal indicated, my understanding of empowerment is changed because Bev has articulately clarified this issue to me. As always, Dr Evas is just the cream on top!!
We are happy with feminism as long as it doesn't threaten male supremacy and the power imbalance in marriage. Outside of the biological roles apportioned by nature, every other thing is socialization. You ladies spoke like you have reached a consensus with all the men to behave well. When women complain about these nuances in marriage, we shouldn't trivialise them, they are real issues and has everything to do with feminism because they are outcomes of the power imbalance in marriage. We want women to roar outside the home and then go dumb when they are home with their husbands. We want women to give up their agency and autonomy in marriage to prove that they aren't men haters, while forgetting the consequence of that. We are pretending not to know what economic disempowerment has cost women. How long do you want an oppressed group to be benevolent in addressing their concerns? If you're being oppressed, you are very unlikely to be passive in advocating for yourself and your freedom. Women empowerment does not equal men disempowerment. It shouldn't be women's responsibility to champion men's empowerment. We can achieve the peaceful coexistence and cooperation talked about when we accept our obvious realities and address these issues from the foundation, instead of tiptoeing around it, so as not to ruffle feathers.
This is very interesting, we all need each other. I pray we have peaceful co-existence instead of promoting gender wars. Indeed feminism has lost direction to a bigger extent.
Thank you so much ladies. Dr Evas said something that I keep on telling the people I speak to and whoever cares to listen anyway! I always tell people that the challenge is not that the women are working on themselves but rather that the current environment also requires the men to do more to better define themselves as men. Things like money and work cannot be what defines you entirely as a man. Back then it was but now, it is entirely different. So for me the take away is in that regard, we are moving forward and the world is evolving… if we women have challenged ourselves to tap into skills that we otherwise didn’t have the chance to prior, can the men do the same! Can they redefine themselves with stronger foundations such as faith, work ethic and earning respect naturally as opposed to demanding it. Can they learn and also teach the young men that in spheres such as workplaces and even marriage they will be leading modern women and girls as well as fellow men! What does that look like and how then can we start the conversation via ensuring that that empowerment is done for the young men. If you ask me, it should start with us as mothers, fathers and older men… we need to understand these aspects and bring the boys in. Because of how dynamic things have and continue to be, we really need to empower all genders at the same rate today. The preliminary work has been done for the women and girls and what is left I am sure we can continue to do while empowering the boys as well. This has been amazing. Thank you Beverly and Rachel as well. May God bless you ladies. ❤
Recently we were in a family meeting talking about our inherited property. My brother said that boy children are more important than girl children. I almost moved out of the meeting
Feminism has led mothers of today to ignore their children running for various fields of jobs since they are empowered that can access everywhere with the aim of getting money and in that they tend to put more energy on increasing bank account figures and these have led children suffering where by they are in hands of house helper yet in most cases they can not do parental guidance which a mother can do. Let's show our children love, care and general knowledge so that it can increase on unity in the society of good raised children for better tomorrow.
In the process of trying to change history, we end up repeating the same history. Take time and study this feminism movement and watch how it will end.

Great conversation ladies!
I was wondering last week what a Racheal and Bev Marsh up will be like after hearing her talk about values… Yummy. Love this.
Great thoughts. ❤❤
Dr Evas ...."the problem is that you got stuck in a world that no longer exist" this says it all

True. She didn’t get the right time on Bump love to articulate her stand on the matter. She did well here❤
Thanks for watching.

A male voice and perspective was critical on the panel, it missed.
