Professor Paglia is like an enthusiastic child who pours her heart out to clueless adults at a dinner party. No one expects such things said, or with such passion. America should be grateful for her scholarship. She is a national treasure. I hope she never shuts up, or caves into the prevailing orthodoxy.
@@oliviasmit2657 I was interested in what she had to say, but found it almost unbearable to sit through, because of her near constant filler word of choice "okay". It is so noticeable, and incredibly irritating to me.
Lambaste me if you like, but as a younger guy I was entirely unaware of Camille Paglia's brand of feminism. She's more aligned with a stoic worldview, which appeals to me. This is an amazing discussion. I'm so glad RUclips's magical algorithm brought me here. Also worried about that, but hey!
I read Sexual Personae, it was a very captivating book. Then I got captivated by The Bible, now I am rejoicing, join me PedanticNo1, also greetings to the video uploader, have an excellent day!!
Camille Paglia is a true intellectual hero... she is a one-woman slaughterhouse, slicing and dicing sacred Feminist cows left and right, and licking the blood from her fingers with glee.. Viva Paglia! Viva sus cojones!!
@@omalone1169 No, however recently I have been reading The Bible so much, it is amazing!! The Lord Jesus Christ gives me so much faith and strength, praise Him, he has come in the flesh, died and was resurrected! I'm jacked up on Jesus!! Who is Frank Furedi?
I did, too, until I read that she's pro NAMBLA. Pedophilia can't be supported. She crazy. I don't trust her views anymore. www.reddit.com/r/JordanPeterson/comments/92rdve/camille_paglia_is_propedophilia/ www.eurocanadian.ca/2019/09/camille-paglias-approval-child-pornography-sexual-contact-with-children.html?m=1 "Camille Paglia has for almost three decades unrepentantly advocated for the legalization of sexual contact between adults and children of "any age", as well as the legalization of child pornography. She is a pro-pedophilia advocate who has repeatedly given her support to NAMBLA (the North American Man Boy Love Association), and has gone on record numerous times to state that she thinks "kiddie porn" should be legalized."
@@KR-nv3ru wow. I've actually read Sexual Personae, but I don't remember the part quoted in the article. Not saying it's not in there, I just think it might be being taken out of context. It seems incongrous with much of what I love about her. She's talked about how all our current trans mania is a sign of a culture in decline, and how in past cultures that embraced what we are now embracing, the intelligentsia all thought themselves very cosmopolitan and "free" as their society slipped into the abyss. I don't know what to think about her views. I will say, in all fairness, the article is very poorly written, just on an aesthetic level, which leads me to wonder if it might be lacking on a journalistic level as well. The quote about "sex play," in the article doesn't specify if she means between adults and kids or kids amongst themselves. Concerning the latter, I will say we've taken steps back in this country, not forward. I must state, for the record, sex between children and adults is CATEGORICALLY wrong and cannot be tolerated. But now we are supposed to pretend children, especially females, have no sexuality at all. So many movies and books where teens were screwing each other could not be made today. Maybe most would say "no big loss" but it shows an almost pathological denial of human sexuality. I remember being 14, 15, 16. All I THOUGHT about was sex and many girls I knew were also just as curious about it. In my teens, getting a girl to jerk me off was the most important thing to me, haha. I would spend hours thinking about the back of a girl's leg or the moment I got to see her belly button. Kids have these thoughts. And every neighborhood had "fast girls," girls who by 14 or 15 had already given head. I don't think we are doing anyone a service by now pretending that stuff doesn't go on. It is, quite literally, natural. But, yeah, again, and I can't stress this enough, if you introduce some perverted 30yo dude into that scenario, that's a crime and should be considered so. I am confused and disappointed by Paglia's stance, but I'm reserving judgment until I fully understand her stance. I'm not willing to rely on that horribly written article. I will say, if her words can be taken at face value, she seems pretty naive. She stresses (which the article left out; I had to look elsewhere for the full quote) that assault and coercion are definitely wrong. But a young boy can't "consent" to sex with an adult. I saw a documentary about this pedo who got away with it for decades and he was totally delusional, telling himself these young boys wanted him. It was pretty obvious to anyone sane that he preyed on troubled boys, manipulated them and got them to a point where they wanted to please him, to keep that male attention their lives were lacking. That's hardly "wanting" to get sodomized by some middle-aged creep. I'm sure none of them realized that once he got what he wanted they were going to lose that attention anyway. If Paglia is really saying what it appears she's saying, it totally ignores how pliable and easily manipulated children can be. And it is also really gross how her championing of it seems to be limited to men getting with boys. Would she feel so nonchalant about a 40yo dude banging a 12yo girl? I doubt it. Again, I'm reserving judgment on Paglia. She's said so, soooo much great, important stuff. I don't know what to say about her views on this. I don't understand people that want to lower the age of consent. If you're an adult, don't get sexual with anyone under 18. How hard is that?? Whatever your kink, there are some young-ass-looking 18yos out there. Goddamn. Keep it over 18, dudes. That's hardly restrictive and "denial of freedom" and all that. If you're 30 or whatever, you really need to screw a 15yo? Give me a break. Go get one of the million 18yos who still look young as fuck. I will say, though, I've heard stories where a dude is 19 and his girl 17, and he gets labeled a sex offender. That's pretty ridiculous. It's horrible, really. We need to employ common sense. You don't magically become a different person the day the calender says you're 18. Paglia is right that there's too much hysteria. I agree with her there. But, again, use common friggin' sense. It's NEVER okay for some dude in his 30's to be doing sexual stuff with a friggin' grade school kid. Jesus.
There is a definite and definable gift in being the first generation born to immigrant parents.....this woman is sharp as a razor and I’m beyond proud to know that her relatives come from that magical peninsula that lies in the Mediterranean.......North South Sicily.....it’s a gift
I think that’s just in your head - I think they’re having their minds blown by an alternative perspective, or they wouldn’t be open to listening to Camille
All the young girls that didn't clap at the end obviously don't want to be free, they want to keep being coddled and protected by laws that rebel against human nature.
Maybe they just strong believers. Some of them have been indoctrinated ever since they entered school. And now theyre shocked to listen to somebody that questions everything they were taught is the ultimate truth.
Imagine a world where Jesus Christ didn't exist. That world verily is hell, watch out boys, end times comin up!! Ask Jesus forgiveness and he will give it so readily. I love Jesus!!
America is at the point of trying to suppress free thinkers and that is sad, we are a culture on the brink. America will be the new Rome. We will fall if we continue on the path the dems are forcing upon the citizens. The dems do not encourage free thinkers and if you do not follow their idealology then they will violently attack you.
I have watched so many speechs, debates, videos, articles etc on the topic of new wave feminism, trans/gender equality etc etc, and i have always still been very confused about it. Camille nailed it for me in one q and a!! I think she is an absolute hero, and a REAL feminist and REAL intellectual! I only hope the college kids take heed from someone who cleary knows what they are talking about! I am now a fan of yours. Nice one Paglia. Much love x
The Antichrist power is encircling the earth, oh who will see, who will be saved? Jesus Christ alone is the door to salvation, Joda, Jesus loves you, the AC is coming up soon, the rapture is imminent, don't believe the gov or society, rapture hitting soon
I am a Chinese majored in Computer Science. I think the gender study major in the west should never exist as an academic department, and it is toxic to the entire intellectual atmosphere in the University. Note that I strongly support women rights movement in the past centuries. In the Universities in mainland China, we have a department called "School of Marxism studies." They apply model social science theory to research on "Marxism with Chinese characteristics". Their publication is also nice looking, in a serious tone, with all the model social science theories, but their entire goal is to prove: "1. Marxism is right." "2. Marxism with Chinese characteristics is still Marxism." "3. China is still a socialist county on the road to communism." There is tons of Ph.D. and professors in the "School of Marxism studies," however, I think they are so ashamed of their pseudo-science research that few of them dare to speak to STEM student to say: "Look, I am a scientist as well." Awarding that subject with the Ph.D. title is a shame to the entire academia. Why, because if they want to do real research in Marxism, they should do it in a proper philosophy, politics or economics department. Their research can be challenged, disputed, proved or disproved by peers of a different view. In "School of Marxism studies," your conclusion is already there, what you need is to prove it with an eloquent essay. As a rule of thumb, an academic subject should not be established as such that its research (or pseudo-research) is revolving around an orthodoxical ideology. Whether such political ideology is just or unjust is another matter, science and research are entirely about Truth, not ideology. In scientific research, we need to report our funders so that other scientists can know that if there exists a channel of interest to cause potential bias. Confirmation bias and vested interest are fairly common issues in STEM researchers. However, in each STEM field, different sides can argue and dispute over the publications so that any hypothesis is attacked, examined, and finally prove or disproved over time. To summarize: every researcher has his own belief and his own bias; To arrive at truth, in STEM we ask the opposition forces to attack each other vigorously so, in the end, we found the truth that withstands the challenge. In physics, you can prove Newton Classic physics is wrong (or flawed). You will have a huge outcry in the circles, you will have both allies and enemy, but your career and physics research goes on. The simple matter is: the entire field of physics (or any STEM subject) do not depend on the orthodoxy of one particular set of theory or ideal. The subject that is founded on one particular set theory or ideal is religion/political ideology. In women study (or any other other identity politic pseudo-research), the entire founding structure is wrong in the first place. I am not arguing about whether today's women study is good or bad, rational or irrational. I think any Ph.D. in STEM major will realize the fact that the system design of current women studies as an academic research system will cause a massive confirmation bias and industry of vested interest in the field itself. Do you believe some Ph.D. in women study can publish a research hypothesis that white males are the disadvantaged social groups? Do you believe some Ph.D. in women study can publish a research hypothesis that male are inherently more intelligent (by whatever particular measure) than the female, so that men are better at some jobs? The above hypothesis is false IMO, but it is an important thinking game. It proves that there is a "right answer" and "wrong answer" of morality in the research, so some hypothesis will never be raised, and some conclusion will never be drawn. Moreover, graduates from women study virtually cannot find any job except being a teacher of women study or an activist. So if their researchers find that women are under institutional discrimination, the entire field benefit from it by collecting more funds and secure more teaching positions or jobs like "chief diversity officers in google"(As a CS student I burst into tears when I first heard of such title :P ). I am not arguing whether "women are under institutional discrimination" is true or false (I believe the claim is justified in someplace in China), I merely point out that there exist a chain of vested interest here. Most importantly, if someday, someone proves "women are under institutional discrimination" is untrue, if would dis-establish the entire field. Can you imagine the severity of it? The entire field of study will be demolished, that will be equivalent to proving Allah does not exist to Muslim. That is to say, hypotheses or research to disproving an certain argument in “women's study” will be an existential threat to all the Ph.D. in the subject and getting everyone so mad at you because their entire life, entire research, and future career will be fertile. With such a closed loop of positive feedback without negative review, it is therefore never a wonder for me that women study become an echo chamber and radicalized. Looking back in history, we would know that such moral ideal is a bad idea in reach science theory. Darwin theory which portrays a cold-hearted evolution by natural selection is not a welcoming thought in many religious people and defy the sanctity of the men. Many radical political thoughts (which cause mass murders) in modern time are inspired by Darwin theory. However, academia is not church; we should seek truth (however uncomfortable). Darwin can be good Christian when he is a man in daily life, but when he begins to work as a scientist, he must distance himself from what he believes or what he would like the world to be. In research, the scientist ceases to be a man; he becomes the embodiment reason itself. After the research, he recovers his morality and ideal. A scientist may then decide to hide the uncomfortable discover, or burn it because it will bring injustice when misused. I think many people outside of STEM emphasis on too much on humanity, too little on the reason. They do not realize the importance of this duality of personality when discovering the truth require our cold-hearted rationalism, and hiding the harmful truth from public require our warm-hearted humanity. I think every true scholar who is interested in women study, with the dream of obtaining truth, should leave that particular echo chamber. Real researchers on women’s issue should go back to common political science or sociology department where there is not a particular agenda or central ideology. Their theory may be completely right, but it needs to put outside of the echo chamber and face strict scrutiny to as befitting the academic standard. Having a feminist reviewing the paper of another feminist will not produce any real science.
I think it is fair to compare it with a marxist department. Paglia points out around 47:00 that a certain form of political correctness has taken the place of religion in the western world. The validity of an area of study such as theology, feminism, marxism, psychoanalysis, etc. is largely empirical or pragmatic, as in the sense of the pragmatic argument of the usefulness of believing in God by philosopher William James : "If I am lost in the woods and starved, and find what looks like a cow-path, it is of the utmost importance that I should think of a human habitation at the end of it, for if I do so and follow it, I save myself." Even though pure science lays out the objective laws based on logic, the human applications of anything is often applied (successfully or not) by technicians or non-specialists who must use their own subjectivity to reach their personal goals and the goals of the group/organization. Even accounting is not a real science in the sense that STEMS are, but since they perform tasks that are useful to society, very few people will question their right to remain as autonomous university departments. While I don't agree that women studies should not receive funding as autonomous department, I do believe that their activities should be monitored and that prospective students should be allowed to see all the possible red flags before they sign up to study with them.

The sassy woman who asked Camille about "advertising and selling" who ended by saying "I don't want to be alone," which related to Camille's analysis of the power of older working class women and, finally the meaning of life, was very moving. Whoever that woman is, thank you for your question and brutal honesty. That exchange got to the heart of the matter.
*I love Camille Paglia.* *And Janice Fiamengo and Christina Hoff Sommers and Karen Straughn.* *These women are the best thing to have happened to women in the West*
I will say these women are the warrior protecting the Western Civilization today. The rest are busy into destroying it. All in the name of equality and freedom without responsibility.
Hello Azzy M, I am praying to Jesus Christ to knock strongly on the door of your heart, that you may rejoice in truth: 'I am the way, the truth, and the life.' That's a quote from Jesus Christ in the bible!!
I bet she could.😂 I can't even think that fast. She said she saw the Romans as strong makes and it made me think, did she not see Jesus as a strong man? You really need to take a closer look at the picture of Jesus. He did no crimes but yet he was hated. They took him and said he's not part of us. The Romans at the demand of the priest wanted him dead. I will say one thing for the Romans they were going to just flog him and let him go but the priest said no he needs to be put to death to which the Roman said I see no fault in him. He was traded for a murder. He has now been beaten beyond belief. Blood everywhere. Thorns in his head and his flesh ripped off and his dignity stolen from him as his clothes was ripped off and he was naked. He had to carry his own cross( which was very heavy) and walk it all the way to the hill. Mind you he still said not a word. He was spat on yelled at, and cussed at. When he reached the top of that hill he layed down on that cross and had 3 nails put in his hands and feet. He loved us even though all the people then and now scream for his death. They gave him no water but gave him vinegar. Then he was up on the cross and asked his father to forgive all of us because they were stupid. Jesus wasn't a body builder type but he wasn't a weakling. Could I have done all of this? No becaus I am for sure a weakling. Do need anymore proof? He was a strong man 💪🙏. So to say, this is what the feminist hate. Thanks for letting me say my opinion.
I absolutely love Camille Paglia but I always feel exhausted (in a good way) after listening to one of her talks :D The best takeaway was that in the past, women admired what men had accomplished and said "I want to do that too. Let me be free so I can pursue my own desires". Today, it's all about turning women into vindictive victims and men into perpetual oppressors.
What you just wrote is essentially the Gnostic cosmology with Sophia wanting to do what the pleroma was doing and ended up rearing a sadistic man child named Abbraxas. Super interesting from a psychological and sociological perspective. We're now repeating what happened between the Gnostic Essenes and the Romans back in -50 CE
I glad to find your comment. As a girl, I also dressed masculine for Halloween. (Roman soldier, Beowulf, Luke Skywalker to name a few!) But I’m also a straight woman 👋
“As an atheist; I’m interested in religion.” This line shows just how much of an intellectual she really is. Even though she may disagree with it, she shows that in order to understand the other side you must be informed about where they are coming from in order to have a chance of having a meaningful conversation with them.
My mother was at the book party for "The Feminine Mystique". The Friedans were neighbors. My mother reported that Betty's husband was mocked and shooed away to his room by Betty in front of the crowd of women. "They were all rich ladies from Westchester who hated their husbands" was my mother's assessment. "Those ladies wanted to be in a club. They weren't individual thinkers. They were joiners."
Such a relief to listen to so many intelligent tough minded women, even many in the audience were on the ball. which made the one girl who got up and parroted her indoctrination really stick out. I love these two ladies they make be feel better about being a disagreeable old cow who thinks 2wave feminism is a crock of BS.
Funny to see how, when Paglia is talking about all these ridiculous 'consensual sex' classes and rules, and she says "Young people should rebel (against college administrators) and say 'get out of my sex life!'" -- you hear clapping and the camera focus on the audience and you can see that precisely the young women DO NOT clap. They really rather have college administrators, legislators, NGOs and instititutions setting out rules for "proper and consensual" intercourse!
I’m so embarrassed and glad I stopped my toxic feminism and started to listen to other perspectives. Especially in this discussion, Camille is spot on in her criticism and analysis. It’s given me a lot to think about and discuss with both my male friends and my feminist friends. Very exciting!
1:14:15 The proper response to the "I think it's unfair' remark should be: «Girl, without any exaggeration, every single straight male in this room right now desire you sexually. You have the power to select among them who would have a chance with you and who wouldn't. You literally have the power to select what genes will live on and what genes will face extinction.... And YOU think it's unfair?» This is point Paglia is trying to make in her talk: mind the sexual game, which is ALWAYS on!
"The 'male gaze' is such a crock." Haha, I adore you, Ms. Paglia. As a reader of and contributor to literary magazines, I can tell you modern feminism and its concepts have a real stranglehold on literary fiction. Most fiction editors are women now, as are at least half of the literary agents. And many are very open about their feminism and the fact that they're interested only in stories that support their views. They're not hiding it. I actually had a female editor ascribe "the male gaze" to the protagonist of a story I submitted, and I suppose she was putting the term on me as well, let's be real. The male lead was highly critical of a particular woman. To be honest, if there was a hero in the piece it was him, and she the villian. Full disclosure, part of his issue with her was her radical feminism and infantile politics. But, what, that's a no-no? A writer just CAN'T be critical of those things? Not if you ask this particular fiction editor anyway (of a fairly well-known, perhaps second-tier literary magazine...I mean, it wasn't The Atlantic, or even Boulevard, but it wasn't some zine printed in someone's kitchen; if you're a literary fiction writer actively trying to get published, you've heard of it). Her rejection slip read something like (I'm trying my damndest to get this right, so as not to inadvertently lie, but I swear it was something pretty close to this) "the way he considers some women worthy in his eyes and others unworthy is offensive...his whole attitude toward her reeks of the male gaze." (Again, not an exact quote, but I swear it's pretty close.) I don't see how anything near actual "art" can be produced, certainly not by "cis" male writers, if their main concern has to be never having a male character have negative opinions of a female character...unless, of course, he's a villian who gets his comeuppance or is shown to be an idiot or a hypocrite. The one other time it's acceptable, from what I've seen, is if the female character is meant to represent "traditional values." Then every character in the story, males included, can shit all over her verbally, probably even literally, depending on how "dangerous" the journal tells itself it is. Meanwhile, most of my female characters are awesome, strong women, if I do say so myself. But I often write about relationships and sex, honestly and from a straight-male perspective. So, yeah, this "male gaze" shit is killing me, haha. I've managed to get some stuff published, but it'd probably be easier if I just went for the headpats and made all the women brave heroes or beyond-reproach victims on their way to being brave heroes and all the men betas or abusers. I just can't do it, though. I'm fucked.
"Most fiction editors are women now, as are at least half of the literary agents. And many are very open about their feminism and the fact that they're interested only in stories that support their views." I'm very interested in this. Did you base it on AAR member database? aaronline.org/MAgents
Reminds me of how movies are being made now as well. All male heros are gone. 110lb w0men are beating up rock solid 240lb men with a flick of their wrist. It's sickening and so stupid I can't even watch it. It's like if someone was watching a movie where a house can beat a lion you'd laugh and say how stupid...but no one questions because the don't want to be labeled anything. Hearing what your dealing with makes me terrified. I heard in 10 years over 50% of politicians will be f-male.... Making the laws. As if some men, especially single father's don't have it bad enough already.
Awesome interview. I wish more feminists would hear Paglia's talks. She can't be DISMISSED as a right-winger and brings up thoughts and challenges also cannot be dismissed full out.
1:09:29 the comment from the audience was a perfect example of what people are reacting against. You can tell she wasn't pondering anything specifically said by the speaker, but instead immediately thought "these ideas are not allowed." Her "question" was nothing but a quick dismissal, as she stood there blankly and read off P.C. bullet points that had nothing to do with the discussion. What she did is what all part of the SJW play book : silence someone you disagree with by invoking race, and then proclaim that the speaker's position of privilege makes their ideas invalid. All they know how to do is silence ideas and maintain status quo. I can see the denseness and lack of independent thinking among this questioner as well as the cross armed girls sitting behind her.
The more I listen to this woman Paglia, the more I feel admiration and respect for her. At the absolute least, I would say, that one can admire her for her somewhat fearless 'free thinking, a quality that is all the more admirable in our current climate. I have purposefully not just 'liked' this but saved it to 'Watch Again; and I think that perhaps next time I will try and watch it with somebody else so that they too can benefit and learn from what is being said. Personally, I respect more or less any intellectual who I feel has made a genuinely earnest attempt to uncover (and subsequently disseminate) the truth, and again, in the context of the current climate such a quality shines forth with even greater potency!! Naturally, the fact that much of what she says seems to make considerable sense to me just increases and improves my respect for her even more! Particularly considering the pertinence of the subject matter which she covers. I would LOVE to interview her!* Her point regarding how the sort of mainstream emergence of transexual phenomena is indicative of a decaying empire/eociety feels to me to fit extremely well and has helped me make a great deal of sense of that which previously made SO little sense to me (and is indicative I would say of just how deeply she has researched into and considered this subject!) Moreover, the notion that she puts forward positing how the lack of orthodox religion has potentially created a vacuum which has been filled with / satisfied by the emergence of the pseudo religion of 'political correctness' really impresses me (actually 'impressed' feels like some kind of an understatement). TO surmise, I am DAMNED IMPRESSED by this woman, and I think that perhaps we could learn a great deal from her. Particularly those who are unfamiliar with what we may refer to as the 'dissident position' on these issues. Finally, as a fairly smart chappie, quite a number of people have suggested to me that I go to Uni, something that would have been overwhelmingly likely I suspect had poor health not put a spanner of epic proportions into my life. I must say, it hardly occurred to me that I would ever be in any way glad, pleased or relieved that I had not attended. I always figured that had I been well enough I most certainly would have done! Or that the financial burden imposed would be THE sole principle that would have deterred me somehow! Had my health (or lack thereof) not precluded me from doing so. However, listening to the likes of Peterson / Murray (amongst others) discuss the state of the universities and their apparent insipid attempts at propagandising people, I seriously wonder whether being unable to go was in some truly and unimaginably unexpected fashion, some kind of saving grace. Who would have thought it eh!? A born intellectual actually somehow GLAD that he was unable to attend university! Crikey! What a trip! All this stuff is very very concerning, and we all owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the like of Douglas Murray, of Peterson, and of Camile Paglia (amongst others of course) for performing the true role of the intellectual in society; to learn and subsequently disseminate the truth, and as Bertrand Russel wisely advised, to do so without regard for that which was socially or politically expedient and so on! Where are all the others speaking out!? Where are all those OXBRIDGE educated types (for instance) performing the role that they were developed for, at least in theory!? Looks like it might just be COURAGE/INTEGRITY (or something to that effect) which is the limiting factor here rather than just simply intellect). As Murray basically pointed out, there just do not appear to be a great number of grown-ups in the room! Which aside from being just darn sad if not downright depressing, places a disproportionate amount of challenging work on the shoulders of the few courageous enough to do this crucial and potentially pivotal work. Now THAT might just have been the longest RUclips comment I ever left. Guess I had a lot to say. FYI, if anyone is interested, I will be, once I muster the courage etc (as well as the space on my phone's hardrive, the evidently harder obstacle), potentially be starting a RUclips channel of my own. Although as a depressive loser (at present) it may consist more of borderline rude jokes about 'your mum' (I say that in inverted commas because obviously I would NEVER make jokes about YOUR ACTUAL mother, as I would truly hate for her to stop sucking my ****; then again; there's always your dad (note the lack of inverted commas in this instance).
First time I have come across Camille Paglia. What an astounding woman to look up to. So much sense is made in today's time by listening to her wealth of knowledge.
Great discussion. Sh'e's much like Dr. Jordan Peterson in many ways. Her view on political correctness as a kind of fundamentalist religion is quite similar to Dr. Peterson's views of it being a secular ideological religion.
'(Second wave) feminism is not a movement, it is a pandemic mental disease with a PR department.' Pathologising dissent - the hallmark of the tolerance for opposing views for which anti-feminists are so renowned!
David Parry Anti feminist is nothing more than a term that has been hurled at anyone who questions or criticizes radical second wave feminism, along with rape supporter and victim blamer, in an attempt to silence them. Believe me, there was a lot to criticize. It was and is hated by most women outside of the upper middle class, delusional, university bubble. I was born in 1975 and during the first 20 years of my life I watched as radical feminists/the women's movement destroyed the lives of more women, men and children than most can ever begin to imagine. Several well know second wave Radfems are/were visibly mentally ill. This was obvious to anyone who watched or listened to them. Children could spot it easily in the 1970s and 80s. Dworkin... insane! It was humiliating to watch her be praised, in the name of women, for sharing her paranoid schizophrenic rape delusions on national tv every other week. Gloria Steinem... psychopath. The woman is a complete psychopath who should be under a jail. It is a very sick and destructive wing of feminism that always, very publicly, creates multiple panics/hysteria's, over reaches during the chaos, attempts to control everything around it and leaves a measurable path of destruction in its wake. I've watched it happen multiple times now, and have watched the public reject it multiple times as well.
David Parry The fact that universities keep attempting to push the worst theories the 1970s had to offer, over and over again, despite the amount of harm they have caused to people in and out of the university system boggles my mind. It is done for no other reason than to appease insane people who are still trying to win the feminist wars, and remain in control.
She didn't even recognize the speaker with a round of applause. Very disrespectful. Its easy to tell shes involving her culture in her thought process making her forever biased.
She didn't look happy at all. Didn't sound like she took in anything Camille said either. What's the bet she's a representative of the student council or something?
+hypno I disagree. If you don't find what someone said worthy of applause, then don't. To then still applaud, is an insult to the intellect, as if someone like Paglia needs fake validation. +Geebz Yeah, that was ...embarassing.
Remember in 2020 when they said "Silence is Violence?". These people are insane. Thank you for this really great discussion!! Never heard of Professor Paglia but I'm listening now!!
That was a great discussion. As a middle-eastern feminist I strongly believe that women of my country and it’s neighbors could use the history of UK and American feminists and learn to challenge their beliefs in addition to questioning and putting modern feminism on trial
Camille Paglia has been a public figure since the 90s. That there are people old enough to have known about her here but don't is shocking, and troubling.
i like how the conversation didnt even go that much on men but was rather more about how modern day political correctness culture is on many facets about evading personal responsibility as a sovereign being
I'm going to have to rethink feminism. I've never heard of feminism portrayed like this before. I've never at all sympathized with feminism, because I've always associated it with the form she is attacking.
@nigling don't be stupid. What they are talking about isn't liberalism. Quite the contrary, it is authoritarianism. It's closer to the right than the left, but they went through the left to get there. They have swung full circle, from multiculturalism to cultural appropriation, the right to free speech to the right to not be offended, from breaking away from backward conservative principles to creating obnoxious, far-left knock offs of them. It's tribalism, and people like you are a part of it.
These conversation are utterly fascinating. Of course, everything Camille says expands your mind, but I also want to give credit to all the young women who challenged her, and respectfully disagreed. This is how people who disagree with each other should talk. This is real debate.
As a highschool science teacher I just think education has gone crazy. We are constantly pushed to talk about women scientists, and talk about how oppressed women are. There are some days we're we read feminist propaganda and girls can give their opinions while boys have to shut up and not participate at all, with the purpose of giving them a space to talk to compensate for all those times where they can't. It's sickening. I have to mesure my opinions a lot in orther not to lose my job. I feel thretened by how prevalent this ideology has become in schools.
That's scary, I'm afraid we are going off the rails, and quickly...it's amazing how much school has changed since the 70s and 80s, and not for the better
What she said about male and female “IQ’s” and the spectrum that exists was highly cerebral, and I think she hit the nail on the head. I think, because the way she worded it flow pass me! Lol Love Camille! Though not agreeing with everything she says. :)
The last questioner is kind of annoying. It's as if she thinks people don't have the right to hit on her. It's like, you're not the queen of England. People have a right to approach you, just like you do them. Sorry! You're not royalty.
I don't think she is implying that. She implies that she shouldn't take full responsibility (or any) for certain actions that break consent of one person. If a guy would hit on her aggressively or repetitively despite her "not interested". Or more serious stuff. She replies to Paglia's ridiculous statement about women's responsibility in date rape.
No robertwill23, she was implying exactly as Chriss M describes - she was talking about male FRIENDS coming on to her and basically she feels uncomfortable having to say no - of course when she wants one of them to hit on her that's different. She has classic 'special snowflake' syndrome.
Lman Rman Well it can be that she doesn't want someone's constantly hitting on her when she's not dressed provocatively or sexy (when she doesn't show signals of "ready to procreate" as in Paglia's theory). She asks why would it be her full responsibility if someone is hitting on her in her casual no-make up look?
When it's all over and the last of us are sitting amongst the radioactive rubble, gnawing on rat bones, we will realise that Paglia was the person we should have heeded.
22:06 - perfect, thorough, logical reasoning and understanding of what she is talking about and understanding of the reality, of the real fact without idiocy or complaining. Camille Paglia is just a superior mind I love her
Such an incredible wisdom! She's absolutely right! yes, we need to teach ancient history, it is too much focus on the present, too much obsession with "comfort and safety" (what ever that means today).
Wow! Terrific and fascinating discussion with the brilliant Camille Paglia. I will certainly be sharing this and look forward to her new book. 1:13:56 To the last audience member's question, I feel better sex education at a younger age, more reading and learning of how other cultures treat youthful sexuality would have helped her, and other young women and young men, feel more confidence in their own sexuality, sexiness and ability to meet and find sexual partners.
Wow I’ve listened to this many times but the portion about end of life contemplation and materialism is so so powerful. Young people listen up! I bought the lie and totally missed the boat on my contemporaries as potential mates. You only get one chance at that time in life - it gets exponentially more difficult after 25 even to find suitable mates. Don’t let these ridiculous dating apps fool you- those who marry young grow together and wed their lives and ambitions earlier so it is easier to develop your life plan once you have identified your partner. It is possible of course to find a partner slightly older but think about it- you stop going out as much as you age- it isn’t a natural part of life any longer as it is when you are young.
I love Camille's enthusiasm and passion. I just found it t little hard to follow her speech patterns as there's a lot of stuttering and incomplete sentences. I'm absolutely going to check out her books.
She speaks sense. The problem here as I see it, is that this woman no longer has any sexual agency, and so her views being given to young women who still have the opportunity to optimise hypergamy, are likely to understandably fall on deaf ears.
Beautiful view on continuing our legacy. I have two degrees, four kids, and practice my passion everyday. 🖖🏽 The most joy I have seen in the women/people around me is when they are with their lineage before them.
Hi, worldwrite! Do you need people to translate the video into Brazilian Portuguese? I have a diploma in Translation Studies in English - Portuguese and I do some voluntary Translation works online. Also, I am a feminist myself and love Camille's work. How can I help you?
This is seven years old and Camille is running through the vocabulary of tofays talking points. She is very prescient in here reading of cultural issues. I'd like to see Camille and Mary Harrington having a chat.
HAHA, at 20:35, the brilliant free thinker Camille, is talking about the biological basis for male sexuality. The camera then cuts to the crowd, most of the crowd looks intrigued, but there's a freaking loon picking his nose with both fingers!
That’s half right, when women chant strong and independence, it means being independent of men. This idea has only hurt women with a false sense of self gratification in their early prime years - which should be given to a man that they admire and respect. Feminism breads individualism
I think what Camille is pointing to, is that in order for 2nd wave feminism to triumph, it had to disconnect women from all other women that had existed prior to the 1960's as a source of wisdom to reference when dealing with social or personal problems.
Professor Paglia is like an enthusiastic child who pours her heart out to clueless adults at a dinner party. No one expects such things said, or with such passion. America should be grateful for her scholarship. She is a national treasure. I hope she never shuts up, or caves into the prevailing orthodoxy.
I hope she's well because she might be the last one who has any ounce of Common Sense in defining the regression going on.

www.eurocanadian.ca/2019/09/camille-paglias-approval-child-pornography-sexual-contact-with-children.html?m=1
"Camille Paglia has for almost three decades unrepentantly advocated for the legalization of sexual contact between adults and children of "any age", as well as the legalization of child pornography.
Jesus.

Jesus Christ is awesome!!!
Their publication is also nice looking, in a serious tone, with all the model social science theories, but their entire goal is to prove:
"1. Marxism is right."
"2. Marxism with Chinese characteristics is still Marxism."
"3. China is still a socialist county on the road to communism."
There is tons of Ph.D. and professors in the "School of Marxism studies," however, I think they are so ashamed of their pseudo-science research that few of them dare to speak to STEM student to say: "Look, I am a scientist as well." Awarding that subject with the Ph.D. title is a shame to the entire academia.
This is more of a journal column than a comment. 😮
Impressively thoughtworthy... and thanks for using paragraphs. 👍🏾
Great piece!
Thanks for writing this -- lots of great insight!
I think it is fair to compare it with a marxist department. Paglia points out around 47:00 that a certain form of political correctness has taken the place of religion in the western world. The validity of an area of study such as theology, feminism, marxism, psychoanalysis, etc. is largely empirical or pragmatic, as in the sense of the pragmatic argument of the usefulness of believing in God by philosopher William James :
"If I am lost in the woods and starved, and find what looks like a cow-path, it is of the utmost importance that I should think of a human habitation at the end of it, for if I do so and follow it, I save myself."
Even though pure science lays out the objective laws based on logic, the human applications of anything is often applied (successfully or not) by technicians or non-specialists who must use their own subjectivity to reach their personal goals and the goals of the group/organization.
You missed the fourth rule of Chinese "School of Marxist studies":
4) Absolutely nothing happened in Tiananmen Square on the 3rd of June 1989

The best takeaway was that in the past, women admired what men had accomplished and said "I want to do that too.
I glad to find your comment. As a girl, I also dressed masculine for Halloween. (Roman soldier, Beowulf, Luke Skywalker to name a few!) But I’m also a straight woman 👋
Camille a voice of reason in a mad world.

Wow.. rethinking about every famous book I read.
SHE IS SOOOOOO GOOD FOR WOMEN !
There is a god! Thank you for this woman!
Amanda tompkins Agreed. I would include young men. I've listened to her with my boys 14 and 16.
Good parenting!
Such a relief to listen to so many intelligent tough minded women, even many in the audience were on the ball. which made the one girl who got up and parroted her indoctrination really stick out. I love these two ladies they make be feel better about being a disagreeable old cow who thinks 2wave feminism is a crock of BS.
i agree, but go and clean and cook, its where you belong
antonio davis: If you mow the lawns stack the firewood and put the rubbish out darling ;) - BTW that was a really weak trolling effort on your part :P
Because they are essentially infants. Great big, loud, angry, unhappy infants.

I wish Camille came up on my radar years ago. Holy Cow... Providing the necessary framework to put detail to my own thoughts
I’m so embarrassed and glad I stopped my toxic feminism and started to listen to other perspectives. Especially in this discussion, Camille is spot on in her criticism and analysis. It’s given me a lot to think about and discuss with both my male friends and my feminist friends. Very exciting!
1:14:15 The proper response to the "I think it's unfair' remark should be:
«Girl, without any exaggeration, every single straight male in this room right now desire you sexually. You have the power to select among them who would have a chance with you and who wouldn't. You literally have the power to select what genes will live on and what genes will face extinction.... And YOU think it's unfair?»
This is point Paglia is trying to make in her talk: mind the sexual game, which is ALWAYS on!
Well said. It's taboo but the truth.
Her rejection slip read something like (I'm trying my damndest to get this right, so as not to inadvertently lie, but I swear it was something pretty close to this) "the way he considers some women worthy in his eyes and others unworthy is offensive...his whole attitude toward her reeks of the male gaze." (Again, not an exact quote, but I swear it's pretty close.)
I don't see how anything near actual "art" can be produced, certainly not by "cis" male writers, if their main concern has to be never having a male character have negative opinions of a female character...unless, of course, he's a villian who gets his comeuppance or is shown to be an idiot or a hypocrite.
And many are very open about their feminism and the fact that they're interested only in stories that support their views."
I'm very interested in this.
I can see the denseness and lack of independent thinking among this questioner as well as the cross armed girls sitting behind her.
her question was not a question. It was a comment. I was wating for Camilla or the moderator to retort with "what's your question again?"
Then when they responded instead of listening too other ideas she pretended to be ignoring them and on her phone.
Well said
Immigrants cry about lack of diversity and racism in a foreign country that protects and feeds them.
Also her saying she disrespectfully disagrees was crock. Y even start with that? Who cares if u agrree or not.
I would LOVE to interview her!*
Her point regarding how the sort of mainstream emergence of transexual phenomena is indicative of a decaying empire/eociety feels to me to fit extremely well and has helped me make a great deal of sense of that which previously made SO little sense to me (and is indicative I would say of just how deeply she has researched into and considered this subject!)
Moreover, the notion that she puts forward positing how the lack of orthodox religion has potentially created a vacuum which has been filled with / satisfied by the emergence of the pseudo religion of 'political correctness' really impresses me (actually 'impressed' feels like some kind of an understatement).
She’s a stammering, bumbling genius !
I never thought Camille and I would ever be on the same side of any argument. Wonderful discussion.

What a remarkable woman. Glad I discovered her
I bet her classes are fun as hell
God I love her. She is exciting and fascinating.
'(Second wave) feminism is not a movement, it is a pandemic mental disease with a PR department.'
Pathologising dissent - the hallmark of the tolerance for opposing views for which anti-feminists are so renowned!
They are gonna meet on September 21st..!
I'd love to witness a Paglia/Peterson conversation!!
"If u advertise... Be ready to sell." 42 gun salute right there.

She didn't even recognize the speaker with a round of applause. Very disrespectful. Its easy to tell shes involving her culture in her thought process making her forever biased.
She was able to study at Oxford. She should have checked her own privilege first before calling Camille "privileged"
She didn't look happy at all. Didn't sound like she took in anything Camille said either. What's the bet she's a representative of the student council or something?
Yeah that was sad. Yet more grandstanding.

I disagree. If you don't find what someone said worthy of applause, then don't. To then still applaud, is an insult to the intellect, as if someone like Paglia needs fake validation.
+Geebz
Yeah, that was ...embarassing.
I saw a lot of snowflakes in the crowd melt into liberal tear drops. Camille is a lightening rod! Love her.
58:00 social observation !
She doesn't leave anyone out of her views. I guess that's what I like about her.
Remember in 2020 when they said "Silence is Violence?". These people are insane. Thank you for this really great discussion!! Never heard of Professor Paglia but I'm listening now!!
I intellectually fell in love right there !
That was a great discussion. As a middle-eastern feminist I strongly believe that women of my country and it’s neighbors could use the history of UK and American feminists and learn to challenge their beliefs in addition to questioning and putting modern feminism on trial
I like how the second to last questioner is on her smart phone during Fox's comments about her position. Seems rather symbolic.
The last statement by the moderator was just spot on! Thank you for this post!
Some of the final questions reflect the fact that these snowflakes didn't listen to 85% of the talk.
Haha yeah they have an attention span of a 15 second Tik Tok video.
Camille Paglia has been a public figure since the 90s. That there are people old enough to have known about her here but don't is shocking, and troubling.
Camille Paglia is BEYOND FABULOUS ! I'm blown away ... i want her to rule the world !
i like how the conversation didnt even go that much on men but was rather more about how modern day political correctness culture is on many facets about evading personal responsibility as a sovereign being
🙌👏wish I was there to give her a standing ovation!!!!!!!!!!!!
Notice how few are applauding when her genius is putting it in real words
@nigling She's a democrat so? I guess Camille is mental? Shut the fuck up.
"if you advertise be prepared to sell!" 🤣
Man she is soooo right. I love Paglia. I cannot imagine a world without her.
Love Camille!! She is the real feminist... S2
These conversation are utterly fascinating. Of course, everything Camille says expands your mind, but I also want to give credit to all the young women who challenged her, and respectfully disagreed. This is how people who disagree with each other should talk. This is real debate.
This isnt dabate u moron
What an amazing series of ideas just perfectly articulated for our time ❤
As a highschool science teacher I just think education has gone crazy.
I hope things have changed since your writing.

This is what a TRUE feminist is REALLY supposed to be! 👏👏👏👌
speechless, amazing amazing find
The last questioner is kind of annoying. It's as if she thinks people don't have the right to hit on her. It's like, you're not the queen of England. People have a right to approach you, just like you do them. Sorry! You're not royalty.
This might be surprise for her but, Men aren't mind readers.
"If I want to pull"... Beautiful people should check their privilege.
Lman Rman
Well it can be that she doesn't want someone's constantly hitting on her when she's not dressed provocatively or sexy (when she doesn't show signals of "ready to procreate" as in Paglia's theory). She asks why would it be her full responsibility if someone is hitting on her in her casual no-make up look?
What a remarkable woman. Glad I discovered her. What a remarkable woman. Glad I discovered her.
When it's all over and the last of us are sitting amongst the radioactive rubble, gnawing on rat bones, we will realise that Paglia was the person we should have heeded.
She mentions this need to create and pass on a legacy
22:06 - perfect, thorough, logical reasoning and understanding of what she is talking about and understanding of the reality, of the real fact without idiocy or complaining. Camille Paglia is just a superior mind I love her
46:40 that correction which suggests people who disagree with us are victim blamers
Such an incredible wisdom!
She's absolutely right! yes, we need to teach ancient history, it is too much focus on the present, too much obsession with "comfort and safety" (what ever that means today).
I love how scandalized she is by some of the developments in modern education. A very respectable woman.
I've only very recently discovered Camille Paglia... What an utterly remarkable person.
30:04 what does she say
I was wrong about Paglia, she speaks honestly
How refreshing. Someone verbalising what I've been thinking and has gotten me into hot water so many times.
“If you advertise, be ready to sell” 😅
It doesn't take a manic person to recognize one, but it helps! LOL Love ya Camille!
I love Camille's enthusiasm and passion. I just found it t little hard to follow her speech patterns as there's a lot of stuttering and incomplete sentences. I'm absolutely going to check out her books.
I actually follow her just fine because my mind works the same way lol!
If the 'male gaze' never existed, then neither would we.
There was a Brazilian philosopher who mentioned this also !
She is an intellectual gem. She is especially instrumental in the dismantling of the gender studies garbage being taught in Ivy League universities.
Wow. Finally someone who talks logically about women
Well, she's been around since 1980s. But her arguments as early as 90s still stand true today. Shame to snowflakes!
What an excellent event and presentation. Thank you so much for this work! 💛
Hi, worldwrite!
Do you need people to translate the video into Brazilian Portuguese?
I have a diploma in Translation Studies in English - Portuguese and I do some voluntary Translation works online.
Also, I am a feminist myself and love Camille's work.
How can I help you?
1:19:00 from rock group "the pretenders"
This is seven years old and Camille is running through the vocabulary of tofays talking points. She is very prescient in here reading of cultural issues.
I'd like to see Camille and Mary Harrington having a chat.
HAHA, at 20:35, the brilliant free thinker Camille, is talking about the biological basis for male sexuality. The camera then cuts to the crowd, most of the crowd looks intrigued, but there's a freaking loon picking his nose with both fingers!
Glad someone else caught that, what a creep!
I cannot thank Camille Paglia enough for her voice. Feminism is about becoming strong and independent, not weak and coddled.
That’s half right, when women chant strong and independence, it means being independent of men. This idea has only hurt women with a false sense of self gratification in their early prime years - which should be given to a man that they admire and respect. Feminism breads individualism
One word for Paglia: respect. This is an honest, coherent femminist. A rarity nowadays.
I think what Camille is pointing to, is that in order for 2nd wave feminism to triumph, it had to disconnect women from all other women that had existed prior to the 1960's as a source of wisdom to reference when dealing with social or personal problems.
Am I the only one noticing that many of the camera shots on the audience have people touching and some outright picking their noses?
Thank you do much, Camille! Your stand is so important! I stand with you!
