This is the biggest part of the game I'm struggling on. I'm so glad that the algorithm fed me your video. My first thought was 'finally, fucking finally' a video that gets straight to the point and includes simple drills I can work on at the range. This is huge, thanks for the quick, straight forward informative video.
I do lessons with Danny (the wizard) and this was the first thing he showed me and it worked instantly. I don't have to visualise the dot anymore and the iron shots are way more consistent since. Critical lesson, this!
this is the first of your videos that I have seen. Very interested to try these drills, as I have been struggling with making solid contact with my irons. Made a swing change two years ago, from something very steep to a more flat swing, but having trouble with my contact point, and flipping at the bottom of the swing. I need to be more consistent, and hope these drills can help me.
Hi Paul. Yes, this will work with fairway woods. The low point won't be quite as far forward to due changes in ball position and the attach angle won't be quite as down at impact, but it's the same principle. And the nice flat sole of a fairway wood reduces any dig/changes of fat shots too.
Thank you for your response. I tried this technique my last 2 rounds and amazingly works very well. Still topped a few, but all in all it worked like a charm. Thank you again as I will continue to use your technique and hopefully get more consistent with it.
Interestingly you refer to this as a skill as opposed to a technical ability (not many golf pros do). Is it possible that after months and years of practice some people simply don't have the hand to eye co-ordination or skill to hit the low point consistently? I've been practicing for two years along these lines and have barely improved. Had lessons too. Thanks.
Hi Tom. That's a good point. I feel golf can get too technical at times, especially these days with so much information available online. However, solid technique doesn't always translate to lower scores. Yes, there's obviously a big technical element to golf, with certain fundamentals of technique that need to be sound to start with. But skill is something that can be developed at any level and will only enhance the technique. Other sports like football, basketball etc, there will be a lot of work to upgrade their skills once sound fundamentals are in place, such as kick the ball around this cone, or throw the ball this far. I like to blend skill work in to the technique for best results. I hope that helps.

Love it. Thanks, Skylar. I like to get to the point, the same as when coaching in person. I hope the skill drills help your game

Hey Craig, great to hear this is working well for your irons! Thanks for the comment. See you guys on Friday :)

I hope they help too :)
Thanks Danny. I was just at the range and about 1/3 of my shots were fat/thin.
I hope the insights in the video helped. Thanks for watching :)
Awesome. Thank you. I totally hit going up. Not through
I hope it helps you hit down and through with your irons, Eric. Thanks for watching
Does this technique work for fairway woods also?
