Love this. That "opening of the face" movement that so many poor ball strikers have is a killer. This is a simple way for them to get immediate feedback on that crucial initial downward motion. Well done.
Thank you guys from across the pond.....Your video on the takeaway was truly LIFE CHANGING. After 20yrs of disappointing golf, that one key was the missing link.
You two guys are by far the best when it comes to explaining any drill you make it easy to follow. I have a handicap of 8 and have improved my own swing by watching you thanks.
Strange coincidence! I was just at the range yesterday before this got posted and implemented this fix spontaneously as I was cupping my wrists during my backswing. I get back home and find a neat little drill to reinforce the feel, top notch psychic work boys!
Thank you both for sharing this swing aid . I’ve tried this already and definitely noticed the flight of the ball is lower ... practicing the weight shifting to the leftside now.
The past couple years my mishits have been fat shots and on occasion the age old "worm burner". I recently discovered what you illustrated in this video is a major reason for my inconsistent ball striking. What drill/drills would you suggest, in addition to the coat hanger, that will help ingrain a proper left wrist action resulting in a better, more consistent weight shift? Thanks in advance!
great videos guys, really struggling with a slice at the moment in all types of shots(except short game obviously) and its becoming rather annoying, what's the easiest tip to sort it?
I tend to slice a lot, didn't realize how much my lead wrist came up on my downswing -- turns out I open the club face big time. Can't wait to perfect this! Thanks guys, love the videos.
Hi hope you can clear up a confusing conception? With your iron shots there are videos saying to shallow the club face through impact with the shaft lean brings the two angels closer together to get better compression and the confusing part you get videos saying to have a steeper angle of attack to get the ball in the air. So confusing, can you help. Thanks
Would this drill apply the same way to a swing with a driver? I struggle horribly with face control with my fairway wood and driver. I also tend to have contact issues when i force myself to shift my weight forward with these clubs in particular. Could this all be linked to wrist/face angle?
Appreciate Video clip! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you ever tried - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (google it)? It is a good exclusive product for revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate at last got astronomical results with it.
Thanks for drill! I think it's interesting that where the club face is will effect one's hands and body movement through the ball. Why do you guys think the brain knows this? Is it from previous swings and the resulting ball flights?
Superb drill! Sweeter strike, stronger (lower) ball flight, more distance with all clubs. Only thing is I'm now losing 80% to the left esp short irons (which were straight but high flight before), any advice please? Should I rotate right side harder/try to keep right palm facing target thru Impact longer, please help! (Rohit H'cap 10)
+rohit pratap I found when I corrected this that I then had to "uncorrect" all the things I was doing to compensate for my open club face, maybe that's your issue; now you've fixed this all the unconscious things you were doing to make up for it will still be in your swing.
I recently just got got my cast taken off due to an incident playing rugby, are there any drills you would recommend to regain strength in my right hand wrist? Would love to hear your thoughts. Great videos by the way! Very informative and well structured. Looking forward to the rest :)
Absolutely brilliant! So on point. So compact. One thing that I need to concentrate on to make everything else work. And in the King's English, to boot. Gentleman, this will be the only video I will need to watch for a long time, I suspect. Hail Britannia!
Hi, I'm a 16 year old boy playing at 6 hcp but I don't really get so much spin with my irons (into the green), not even the short irons. I hit it with spin sometimes but want to be more consistent with the spin, do you have any tips? I have a clubhead speed around 85-90 mph with a 6 iron and about 110 mph with driver and I play balls like the PRO V1x and Callaway SR3. I've been helped on other parts of my game through your videos and want to thank you guys for that // Hampus
KimuraX5, if you are chunking and topping the ball then you also might have a problem not shifting your weight forward. Not shifting forward will keep the bottom of your swing arc behind the ball and will result in "chunking" aka "fat" shots. After hitting fat you will start bending your elbows bringing the club toward your body during the impact area, aka "chicken wing" in an attempt to avoid fat shots which will then lead to either thin shots ot topping the ball. I struggled with same problem and shifting weight was the problem. Hope this helps

Yeah what's worse than a consistent miss? An inconsistent miss. Same I hit the ball left, right and straight. It's like spin the wheel. No control. My shot is unpredictable.

Terrific explanation of hanging back owing to faulty grip! Bravo for this.

This is what I needed to see. Thanks for the excellent clue. Now, to work!
This is the best video I have ever seen. It has helped me hit more consistently and drive/hit the ball further.
That's great David! Glad this was useful.
This coathanger drill is brilliant. Doing it at work today. Cheers guys. Also, those geese are stealing the show.
Great advice all round, definitely rate you guys as the best RUclips golf professionals, keep doing what you're doing!
Tom Frost Thanks Tom. We have lots planned for next year, so stay tuned:))
Good advice, I am a 16 handicap and struggle with inconsistent strikes with my irons too. 👍
Adam G. Thanks Adam. hope this helps you.
I've been hung up on this problem for years. Thanks!
Eureka!! All becomes apparent, the answers been in my wardrobe all along!!
Roger White Ha ha. Give it a go Roger.
Great video guys! Really helped me on this one!

Jeremy Turner This will help with every club yes.
Jeremy Turner Very good question! Was thinking about it while watching the video!
+Jeremy Turner This is also a great wrist position for your fairway woods.

Can you turn your wrist "down" in the back swing or just in the down swing?
Great drill guys. Maybe this will help my inconsistency!

Secret Agent Ha ha. Glad you like the video. Hope this helps.
Great drill guys! Thanks!
Kevin Krohn You are welcome kevin. Hope it helps.
Piers, is looks as if your left writs is slightly cupped on the backswing. Are you then moving it to a bowed position in your transition?
jrhatcher1 Yes the left wrist is slightly cupped at the top but it does move towards bowed in transition and impact.
Thank you. Another great lesson.
+Ronald Moravek Thanks Ronald.
Great video guys, are you doing any course vlogs soon? Really enjoyed them last year.
Andy Welsher Hi Andy. Yes we have the first one planned for the 23rd so it should be a good one!
This has helped me a lot actually thank u!!!
Great information, thank you!
Brilliant!
Great drill for better impact :-)
Great drill guys
Great info, really well explained 😆
It's exactly that problem i had today :)
RaWz KingZzZ Give this a go and see if it helps.
Love this drill guys! Using with my students today!
HOW DO YOU FIX THE LOW BALL FLIGHT?

Good tips
patrik streng Thanks Patrick.
I keep chunking the ball or topping the ball. Could both be caused by the same reason?
It means two things. 1. You suck 2. Quit the game.
KimuraX5,

Thx a lot! I have been working on shifting weight forward and it seems to be helping with less fat shots and even adding slightly more distance.
whenever i try this my right shoulder moves in and i swing in an over the top motion. What am i doing wrong?
Danny Kopp rotate your hips before you transition into the down swing

This is me
Aww look at those swans
This guy is the literal same as me
Those swans were very inattentive 👎
Open to what?
Golf Buddy To the swing plane...
Need to shorten your clips to be in 2-3 min range.
+Deepak Sharma Why?
paul woolnough That was a general comment w.r.t. this and other videos, where there's a lot of talking and I would like to see more action.
Stop playing golf. Easy like that 😂😂😂
