    UPDATE: Digisoft definitely looks similar to DTF, but can be produced faster and at higher scale (think thousands of orders per day). Check this link for a DTF & DTG comparison: printdigisoft.com/

    Hi Kerry. I recently ordered a sample tshirt from a company called ReliablePOD. I'd never heard of them before so I sent away for a sample print on a Gildan 6400 (They didn't offer BC3001). They use a technology called DTF. This is what their website says this is: "Direct To Film (DTF) printing is a new apparel printing technology that is revolutionizing the garment decoration industry." The sample arrived and the colors are amazing and the print feels like thin vinyl--very similar sounding to what you're describing with Digisoft. Just thought you might want to check them out, too. Could be they are both using the same technology--just calling them each something different. Enjoy your videos, by the way. :)

    • @KerryEgeler

      I think the difference comes in the durability, digisoft is supposed to break in nicely and feel less vinyl like as you wash it

    • @elevated-apparel
      @elevated-apparel 2 года назад

      Digisoft is just dtf which is old but what your feeling is a silkscreen cover base. And after you press it its gives the vinyl feel. Other shop like supacolor have been doing this there just now getting into it I guess they made enough money to buy the machines to do it.

    All of the negatives you spoke about DTG can be traced back to Kornit's rise in popularity. There are other printers out there do a much better job - they look and feel better and last longer. I say this as someone who has owned Brother 541s, a bunch of Brother 381s, and now Brother GTX Pros AND I've outsourced to printers who use Kornits when order volume was too high to keep up with in-house. The amount of customer service issues we receive about smell, bad quality prints - fading/cracking/washing away with the Brother printers is practically zero while those we outsourced to companies using Kornits (companies that I won't name but you've definitely heard of them) is so high there's no comparison. Even printers like the M&R Polaris, with an $800K+ price tag, still have an inferior look and feel to Brother GTX or even the Epson 3070. I was super excited about the M&R until I saw them in action (again at a printer that I won't name).
    For now I'll stick with an army of GTX pros. I just get annoyed when people lump DTG together. I did enjoy the video though. Digisoft/DTF look interesting enough, especially for active wear.

    Thank you Kerry for the update.
    I pretty sure it's DTF my opinion. They are just calling it different name.
    When I got into shirt school in 2020 I believe. We were printing DTG...then late 2020 started doing DTF.
    We have been printing DTF for over two years now before these print on demand store have..but I'm sure most are going to jump on the bag wagon. 😉.
    You have Described it well.
    They feel great on moisture wick fabric. I have at less 50 washes on T shirts. Hoodies at least going on 25. We have done numerous DTF on wood, metal, bags, leather.. etc.

    Of course DTF is going to produce more vibrant colors than DTG. DTF prints on a film first and then it gets transferred to the garment so the film sits on top of the garment vs DTG which prints inks directly to the garment so the ink actually soaks in and becomes part of the fibers, so the inks will blend in with the colors of the garment giving a more opaque look. Both have their advantages and disadvantages in my opinion.

    • @elevated-apparel
      @elevated-apparel 2 года назад +1

      No with dtg it prints on top of the adhesive that you spray on the shirt first then heatpress to take out the moisture for 90 seconds then you print to the shirt. This is dtf with silkscreen base. The wash test on these have not been that good either.

    • @8sun52

      Hi. The print detail, sharp lines, vibrant colors are real good. But no matter how durable a POD boasts about their prints, I personally would briefly and gently hand wash T-shirt designs with a little bit of detergent. If real sweaty and dirty, let it soak for 30 min. Why use a hammer on a pushpin is what I say. And let them line dry. Foldup drying rack. The dryer is a fabric wear down. Energy vampire too. Washer machine too, a little bit.✌

    The comparison shot wasn't great.
    DTG looked better (to me). The phrase wasn't very colorful. A better comparison would have a more colorful image (like a flower bouquet) to compare. As it was, all I could compare were subtle shades of red which could have been the T-shirt or camera or my phone screen vs the tech.

      There must be a reason that DTF has not been widely available with print on demand over the last 10+ years. I think there is something to the process that CustomCat/Digisoft has figured out and it’s slightly different than traditional DTF
