I need to stop watching these new tutorials at 11:30 at night - too much creative juice flowing. Jenny this is so fabulous and stunning. Football fan family beware your team colors could appear in your Christmas gift next year.
Ditto! I remember when ditto was a copy of a worksheet in school-and I sill say “ditto,” if someone says something that applies to me as well. So many possibilities for this quilt!
Such a simple idea! I was thinking it looks like a modern take on this traditional hobby we have! But I was also thinking about using my scrap squares and using a white for the sashing! Thank y’all for always inspiring us and blessings for a very happy and healthy new year! Happy quilting! 🧵🙏🏻🧡💜❤️
Great video Jenny! What drew me to your videos years ago is how you simplify patterns into less work and fuss to get the same effect. I say that because a couple months ago I saw a similar pattern done in a video from another shop and it seemed very complicated.
I would like to wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. Thank you for all your tutorials that have given me something to look forward to every week. Keep safe.
Your information is priceless. Been watching you off and on for years. My quilting is in spurts. Haha …. It had been a long spurt….. I needed a binding refresher. I found it. It answered my question. Then it occurred to me I had not seen a MQC cross my RUclips feed in forever. I kinda panicked. Has something happened to her??? I was so relieved to find your still at it good as ever and I’m going to make this quilt. Love it. Thank you for sharing your years of learning. Scarlett
Thank you, Ms Jenny! I love the simplistic execution of this pattern. And as a side note yellow is definitely your color! You are beautiful always but today you are especially beautiful❤️
Another amazing pattern! I started this two days after you presented and WOW, just know completing it. I had so many different Missouri Star projects going on. Your patterns are fun and easy, I would make the blocks of your projects and see another project of your and begin making blocks of your new video. Joyce from Chicago
Just finished mine. Used less contrasting colors. Also had to buy yardage instead of a charm pack to get the right colors and it all worked out well. A little more cutting but love the outcome!
Very nice - I think this would perfectly fit to a timber-framed house. Thank you for your great work and all tutorials. A very happy year to your family and to all those wonderful quilters around the world. Wish you all much luck, prosperity, health, love and countless moments to have a smile on your face.
instead of adding the horizontal sashing as one long strip and worrying about getting the blocks to line up, you could add it to each block log cabin style. Then the blocks set together with no stress. You border the right and bottom of each block then add long strips to the top and left side of the whole quilt.
I have been looking for a pattern to use up some layer cake squares that were screaming for a stained glass treatment. This will be beautiful in the vivid colors from a Kaufman collections. Thank you for a great idea.
This was way cuter than I thought it was going to be but, I kept seeing a floral print where the white was and maybe a coordinating color where the black was, time to do some math and figure out the yardage. Happy new year MSQC family!
Well, this is new to me. I’ve never heard of the asterisk standing for ditto before. Is this kind of like the pound sign # becoming the “hashtag“ now? Well, I think that if you surrounded each block with white sashing (in this case) instead of the black, it would look like individual asterisks instead of a grid. Which will give it a whole different look! 😁 *This would be a great way to use up leftover skinny scraps of 1.5”. You could make each asterisk a different color! 🌈 🌷
If you mark the block with the first sashing sewed on at the half way mark, it's then super easy to line up the center for the next block being added. Hope this makes sense. Lines up every time and no missed matches...lol Babs near Tombstone AZ USA
Awesome tutorial thanks for sharing different quilting patterns. Ringing in the New Years sewing this beautiful quilt 😍. Happy Holidays 🎉 to you and your family. Looking forward to new quilting.
Love the quilt but…. I think the “ is for ditto and the * is for an unknown variable. Like if you wanted to search for Missouri but you weren’t sure if the last letter, in some search engines you could type Missour* and it would return everything that starts with missour and ends in any other letter. * can also stand for multiplication. Sorry I’ve been an auditor for 30+ years. Retiring next month. Just in time I guess. Still love the quilt and thanks for the tutorial.
I have many memories of those old mimeographed papers. My stepmom worked as a secretary in my high school and her hands were always that strange shade of purple.
Hey, I posted that my block came out at 5.25 inches. Well, I know why, I cut my strips at 1.5 instead of 1.75 inches. I'm not going to change it now since I have quite a few cut. I think they look fine, but did make notes to correct it ,if I make another one. So sorry for saying that the size was incorrect. I cut my squares from wof.
FYI.....I have to say that there is a mistake as to the correct size the block comes to. The individual blocks are 5.25 not 5.5 inches. I made two full blocks, one where I starched the white and the other I didn't. I wanted to check to see if the starch shrunk the material that much. No it didn't. So make sure you test your piece. You may have to make adjustments. The block should be 11 inches square unfinished. Just thought I'd pass that info along.
@@kayschaffer844 I didn't follow the pattern correctly. I believe Jenny said her strips were 1 and 3 quarter. I cut mine at 1.5 inches. So that may be why mine was the 5.25 instead of 5.5 inches
@@fluffypotato-n8g I am making another top and cut my strips at 1.75. The block still comes to 5.25. It might come to 5.5, but my piecing wasn't always on and it's working with the bias that I don't want to distort. I trimmed to 5.25. It still looks good 👍 Wish we could send pictures for all to see??
Same here! My eyes started to hurt and I had to look away from the quilt and just concentrate on the sewing. Weird. Maybe there is too much contrast everywhere. Thanks, Jenny, because I can use other colors to soften it. Happy New Year to all our sewing friends!
This would be gorgeous as a stained glass window quilt
Happy Year Jennie and all. Been watching you for years here in Texas.
That's what I was thinking too!😃 This could work with so many different colors and even ones with patterns. Hmm... an idea for next Christmas!
I need to stop watching these new tutorials at 11:30 at night - too much creative juice flowing. Jenny this is so fabulous and stunning. Football fan family beware your team colors could appear in your Christmas gift next year.
I can see using a layer cake for this and picking out a complimentary color for the sashings. Florals would be great! BRILLIANT idea!!
Ditto! I remember when ditto was a copy of a worksheet in school-and I sill say “ditto,” if someone says something that applies to me as well. So many possibilities for this quilt!
Yeah….ditto is not a synonym for asterisk. That was a little odd.
I remember "ditto" from the movie ghost...

This would be so pretty using batik squares with the black sashing. Kind of like stained glass.
or color coordinate the sashing with the batik colors!
Oh what a great idea! I love batiks.💕
Ive got several rainbow charm packs. They would be really cute w that black sashing too
Jenny, I love this quilt...I'm a beginner but sort of a perfectionist. Your tutorials have given me and my projects life...Thanks 🤩
I love these short version tutorials. Just like Mom used to make! Happy New Year, Jenny and the staff at Missouri Star.

I love this. It looks like a beautiful screen.
I would call this a very therapeutic quilt to make….chain piecing extravaganza! Thank you, this looks tricky, but you made it look simple
It’s so fun!! Another one I will have to make!! My list is endless!!
Ditto is Sam's way of saying "I love you" to Molly ❤
I can see using this for people to autograph as in well wishes for a friend...
Happy New Year's Eve from Canada! I hope 2022 is gentle to all of us.

How beautiful! It reminds me of Tudor Windows. Since I can’t get those in my house, I can now make a quilt instead! Love it!
It reminds me of black work embroidery.lovely quilt.Happy New year everyone.

This would be cool with a panel used as the background. It would look like a scene viewed through a screen.
I love this idea.
Really like this one💝
Congratulations on your new show! Cute first project.

And you can leave out the extra center sashing in between the blocks and in between the rows and get a secondary pattern!!

I'm going to do this with the rainbow colors radiating from one corner instead of black

It reminds me of the lattice four patch…
I wonder what would happen that instead of white background squares, using batiks or ombré fabrics to create a striking quilt.
