At first I was a little weary of Heilung but man, after listening to them for a few weeks now, its weird how much it helps calm me down
It blows my mind to hear people from a different part of the world who you never knew existed pops into your experience and they allow you experience something you have been longing for.
Blown away in person by the 2nd NYC show...Heilung was everything I wanted, needed, and more. Transcendental it was like walking through a portal in time and seeing every frequency...what a healing experience.
Endlessly grateful to have had the opportunity to see them live. It was definitely an experience. Spiritual and entrancing. Beautiful. Definitely on my top 5 artists for me.
Seeing Heilung was first on my bucketlist… but sadly.... heath prevented me from traveling to see them here in the US. My first introduction was some youtube suggestion and an unusual photo of a woman wearing antlers..... Now I am hooked. The most original group of creative artist I have seen as far as I can recall. Thank Kris, Kai, and Maria.... feel loved and appreciated!

I remember smoking a cigarette with Maria, years ago in Maryland, before Heilung. She came to Maryland’s Faeriecon as Euzen. Cool moment.

Sander Cohen I was about to say the same. I love Europe. I go there often, but the smoking thing there is ridiculous.
@@sandercohen1371 Smoking a cigarette doesn't necessarily mean you're a smoker. I played hockey once, but I'm not a hockey player.

Great interview! I thought I knew what I was expecting when I went to their show but I was happily surprised! Fantastic event.
This interview was super awesome! I saw them in SF, it was super eye opening and after leaving the concert I could still feel the drums beating!

Went to the San Francisco Show. I have not been the same since. I LOVE their music. I do my art to their music and I hike listening to them. It completely puts me in trance state when I hike and in nature. Thank you for this interview. You did a great job. Thank you Heilung for my mental and spiritual healing.
These questions asked are so deep and the response is even as deep or deeper. Heilung is not a band but a painter for all of us.
Whatever is happening with the visuals is not appealing. The weird cross fade, out of focus, opacity thing is not working.
Agreed. If you're interviewing the band, keep the band in focus the whole time. We can look at concert photos elsewhere.
Right? And if the idea is that you are introducing people to the band for the first time, just show them the pics briefly and get back to the band. Not really being able to see either is distracting and off putting.
Yeah sadly he said the footage had blurry parts so the photos where added, honestly I hope he can get a better rig
I guess they wanted to make the most of Heilung's visual style but just carried it out poorly.

Heilung inspired me to learn ancient Scandinavian - I love the sounds in this language - just beautiful.
I feel very lucky to have seen Heilungs ritual in San Francisco with my friends. This experience has impacted me so much I can’t put it in words...just look into my eyes as I try to explain what I saw and heard, utter disbelief...love and wonder. Thank you Heilung for sharing this astounding history with North America. We all look forward to your next project and seeing you again.
I don't understand why they were showing pictures the whole time. Like if you're watching this video, you already know their look and performance..
Looking forward to see them this year for the first time. I can't believe I skipped them for almost a year or two, regardless, I am grateful! Their folklore music is amazing and very spiritual in nature! The blurry image should be removed, want to see the talk show in entirely.

I got to see them at the second NY show. Had to fly out from Alabama. 100% worth it.

RE: the overlaid images - They totally messed-up the filming by having most of it blurred and so they tried to cover their fuck-up by overlaying images throughout the whole thing. BUSTED

Not the best interview.... good intro interview. But, if you haven’t seen them live. You won’t get it. Like the Dead. It’s an experience, listening and watching videos is too one dimensional for this type of music. For a lot of folk it is a ritual. They will cleanse you and then it begins... A must experience.
Yo dudes, whoever is in charge of the visuals of this video, please dont do this weird fade in fade out shenanigans! Its distracting, you just interviewed one of the most interesting bands of the past decade and killed the vibe because of poor editing.

Visuals are terrible.
You guys can make this anything you want. This is not anthropology. It’s entertainment. But the inspired vibe is earlier than the Iron Age. By then German tribes had a sophisticated pantheon. The portrayal of the female wisdom woman is indicative of animistic Germanic tribes of pre-Bronze age. The bone ornamentation on the head gear is Bronze Age, but the animism is much prior to that. These are hunter-gatherers no later than mesolithic. Going into trance to come up with acts? Okay, but interrogate whatever is channeling through who and when they are. Might lend authenticity...I think. You’ve read a lot of Nietzsche and are acting out, cool, but art is better when accompanied by historic facts.
By late Iron Age Germanic tribes were quite sophisticated. For heaven sake, they defeated the Romans. The Celts only came close. Come on. You want to play pagan who cares, but if you want to represent the Aryan vibe do the reading and do it right. I have standing being German/Viking and a student of anthropology. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but the makers of Conan seem to have done more homework.
Reality is always far more engaging than a fiction; and red haired tall white people are found in every nook and cranny of the world dating back to at least 6000BC and perhaps much earlier. Work it, but don’t trivialize it. A white woman with red hair and antlers sticking out of her head. Where did we loose it? Bring it back, Baby.

@@Thomas_Geist They're authentic to their own unique creation of these rituals, just copying currently known or guessed facts, staying in "line", isn't authentic nor is it creative. The line of thinking you're portraying here is representing limiting yourself, WHICH definitely is something others will notice and it won't come off as authentic at all. It's like watching a painting of a really good technical painter that didn't FEEL what he/she was painting, it might look visually good and complex, but it won't move you. Because there's no real story or feeling in that creation. It falls flat. It won't capture you. You'll move on and not think of that painting or artist ever again.
How do you think our ancient ancestors came up with different rituals that made the people participating in them feel connected to their ancestors, the universe, the gods and spirits they believed in btw? Especially if you consider the first ones. Did THEY go around thinking, nah man, can't do this shit, it's not historically accurate enough...... No they didn't. Had they? Humans would've never created anything like this, ever. We'd be stuck in a cave somewhere, not even having music.
It does seem a pity that you criticise and I don't see it constructive to try to correct some sort of supposed historic errors.
My understanding is that Kai accesses none ordinary states of consciousness so to me this is totally Shamanistic and authentic because he is channeling a visionary reality. This allows for something deep to be drawn on and gives them great power. I believe they are awakening something very deep in everyone participating and is so timely for the re-emerging of plant medicines and healing through none ordinary states.

Actually we do. That is actually the focus of Heilung. Their lyrics, regalia and vocal style are inspired by and directly taken from ancient Germanic languages and traditions. Europe had many different tribes within until Christianity came in and almost wiped them all completely out. Our history, languages and cultures have been irreparably damaged by Christianity and now Islam...
What? Ofc they do. You have the native indigenous people, but even an American that doesn't have that specific heritage, their ancestors OBVIOUSLY came from somewhere. Probably Europe, and as Volkisch points out in their comment, there have been a TON of different ancient tribes and cultures all across the European landmass(All over the globe really). It's just that a lot of that knowledge is now lost to us, and in many cases you have to go out and actively seek out information on your own to get in touch with the knowledge that DID survive. Our ancient past is RICH, which many of us can feel and spiritually connect to when listening to Heilung.
