That would be absolutely fantastic not gonna lie. Hopefully once this pandemic is over and we start getting live music events on the regular again, we might see a collab between Heilung and Wardruna. The closest we've gotten to that collab so far is Vallåt by Kaunan, released a couple years ago, which Einar Selvik and Maria Franz both sang on. If you haven't checked it out already I'd really recommend you give it a listen, they both complement each other very well.
I was at two concerts of them. The first on a pagan festival in the Netherlands and it was the most beautiful concert ever seen/ experienced. It was in the evening and we were all outside, all listening to another pagan group on another stage. When it was time to go to there stage, we all run to see the ritual in the beginning, and it was so mesmerizing! The moon came behind the stage like it has meant to be. It was one big ritual, we were all in a mesmerizing state of mind and so happy. It was their first concert and I was there, and it was a very very beautiful pagan night. In the beginning of the evening we burnt the wickerman and we finished with the most beautiful ritual with Heilung.
I remember 20 years ago with my generation, Gen X, we felt so cluttered and confused with technology that we yearned to return to the wild but didn't know how. Today, everyone brings their cell phones to concerts instead of living and being a part of the moment. And now with Heilung, once again people are becoming the moment by interacting physically, mentally and soulfully to the music. It's so good to see!
I am what you call Gen X (I find these "generations" a stupid concept) and I love technology ever sind I got my hands on a Commodore 64. I discovered Heilung about 2 years ago and I am absolutely blown away at the level of talent, creativeness and stage presence. Its not a show. Its an experience. I cant wait to see them live.
I was at the Mtl ritual and I have to say that it was the most intense musical experience I have ever had. I absolutely agree with them saying that we are all there together living the moment, the drums pounding move all of us in the same frequency uniting us as one movement. I was right in front of the great Priestess Maria and I was absolutely in awe of her, her movement, her voice, her proximity (I have a huge crush on her! Is she and Chris still together !?). All Heilung were incredible, the 2 maidens on vocals and instruments, the Shaman, the viking drummer, Kai and his incantations, Chris with the voices from beyond and the unmiked chants of the warriors, this tribe is absolute must see event, I wish they come back during summer to live it again outside with the actual contact to earth, wind and stones, and beasts and trees. Heilung Uber Alles !!
Proud to be a Member of this Family! Thank U for what U do. U grabbed me by my Primal parts and I've never been the same again. I will see you in Detroit Sept. 10th, 2022. Can't wait!
Literally, banging different types of angled rocks to larger boulders on the ground shaped differently to create melodic percussion, and water reeds with holes as wind instruments are thought to be the oldest of instruments
I’m studying history and hope to go into museum work and help make history more accessible, immersive and interactive for people. And Heilung do exactly that, and with such passion and authenticity. They’re a huge inspiration!!! I’ve been telling everyone I know about them since I discovered them :)
Great interview! They are so well spoken and answered in such detail! Its really good to see them taking off and getting huge support here in the US. I find it amazing, too, how different Maria's other band, Euzen, is compared to Heilung.....just multi-talented musicians all around!
Keefy, I want to say that I greatly appreciate the way you handled this interview and your obvious connection to the music. The humility on display in this video is hard to find these days. Be well and take care!
Pagan belief has it that anyone who uses their own hands to make a useful object whether it be a music instrument or a flint point or a tattoo or a song , there is a bit of your own magic your own essence is in that object ... Heilung Forever !
I absolutely love Heilung! I do have to say that this is the first time that I saw an "Asia" patch on a metalhead's jacket, though I can honestly say that my local FM station played an Asia tune during the lunch segment because "Nobody hears this much anymore." Serendipity.
it's already been said but this is one of the best interviews (conversations) I have ever seen. We can identify with the interviewer as much as with Maria and Chris, No embarrassment, no posturing, just genuine passion and love. And Maria and Chris are every bit as wonderful and articulate as I could possibly have hoped. Like the music, these people are unique, compelling and make you feel you've known and loved them as long as you have been alive. Remarkable people and a truly wonderful life experience (so much more than a band)
This was a good interview, I was dying to hear about the "clothes" that are worn and so pleased Chris corrected any notion that they are remotely costumes, how brilliant. I would love to learn more about this attire as it looks so Shamanic to me, very reminiscent of what Siberian Shamans wear. It is so moving to hear them refer to ceremony and brothers and sisters, so powerful and i'm uplifted to realise it isn't just a show, but they really get it and know exactly what they are doing. This is all so timely and the movement towards plant medicines and endogenous healing traditions is spreading and something deeper is coming up to the surface and Heilung is embodying this impulse.
I just discovered this group 2 weeks ago honestly, never heard of them before that and I must say I wish I would have known about them sooner. I hope they come back to the United States and tour Detroit I would totally try to get tickets. I am really transfixed when listening to their music. It's so full of life and magic it's incredible.
Jacob McCorry they are coming back for 1 show at Red Rocks in October.... if you have a chance, gooo, i saw them In Denver and seeing and hearing them live is amazing
These aren't my people, but I want to be their people. Goddamn inspiring stuff. I've been heavy into them in the last 12 months......stumbling on their music in a game trailer and finding out what the hell I'd just heard. Can't get enough of them even now.
It's interesting how the more 'technological' our species has become, there is also a curious hunger(?), I'm not sure what word to use, for a simpler, less technological lifestyle, and one in much closer connection with Nature. I'm not sure I would want to go back to Neolithic times, but the nostalgia for it, for a growing number, is strong. Maybe (this is just speculation) the realization that humans are now capable of disrupting the 'natural' course of Nature and the global environment itself, is a big motivator for why artistic expressions like this are so appealing? I don't know. But their work is undoubtedly energizing.
I've always found Heilung's music really interesting, but it was more interesting to hear them talk about how it isn't a show, it's a ritual, and that it's something they've been living every day for years. Which leads me to wonder whether or not they identify with any particular organized religion. How do they identify themselves spiritually when asked? I've seen/heard their opening ritual, recognizing the one creator who was there before humans came and named it, which makes me wonder how they refer to it. And I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that they've received such a warm reception here in the U.S., where Judeo-Christian theology predominates and people are quite often hostile to this kind of event.
Weird as it may sound, this is kind of like certain types of electronic music gathering. But you're not restricted to be just as a spectator you are a part of it. Im all too familiar with this type of stuff and I really really really like this. I recently discovered heilung and I am very happy to know that this is something that I'm very familiar with. I will definitely be going to the ritual in Los Angeles this year I'm going to try to get ground level so I have that open space. I literally felt like I was there when I was watching the recorded stream I felt completely connected to the entire ritual.
Was at the Maryland ritual and it was incredible. Would love to see Heilung in Tennessee. I don't know the names but there are 2 caves that have concerts. Would be perfect.
These guys are the explanation to why Europe has so many awesome metal bands per Capita. Despite changes in religion/govts, the deeper culture and practices stay on.
Its naturalistic tribal and primal experience where you connect through the ritual to the natural world around us and its a shame this doesn't happen organically much anymore
I first heard of this band from the hellblade trailer, and I had chills from the top of my head to my ancles, I got obsessed, and now, after binge listening to this amazing band, I just want to part take in their rituals while on shrooms and paint in my face, I have never been this captivated by a band before, not even my favourite band, in flames, managed to captivate me on THIS level
Primal is the perfect way to explain this, this art / virtual brings the primal nature of the human species out within us. I sure as heck felt that. When they mentioned trance like state when it comes to listening to that music I am almost certain they also feel the same thing when they're performing, I can see it with the way that they use the instruments they get into that rhythm it's such a specific way almost like they're not trying, but they really are just completely one with the music making it look effortless and thats when you know they are diving deep. I'm obsessed with music that gets me into trance/meditative like state.
I'm a metal fan and that's how I also got to know about Heilung. While I don't like masses, which kept me from going to Wacken for example, I would love to experience this live. I still remember the swearing-in ceremony in my army time and the marching band with a giant drum moving past me. Every beat of the drum I felt in my chest and heart. Must simply feel amazing with all the drums Heilung uses and of cause the resonating voices and chants.
They radiate an air of calmness I think they even had an effect on the interviewer cuz at first he seemed really nervous and was checking himself a lot and by like a third of the way through he seems a lot calmer

she flinged with her eyes when he said we are lucky we have them, we are, there is nothing like them, they are gathered by fate and we are blessed by theyre work.
Imparting an essence of yourself to an instrument you would use to express. Wow. This is a wise band. Calling a concert a ritual. Thinking about that, I think all concert that has been performed is a ritual, unbeknownst to the crowd and/or the performers.
A year postponed, but I found this interview after that special open air concert that Chris was teasing at 20:19 ;) I hope you were able to get to it as well, because that show will absolutely go down as one of the most incredible experiences I'll have. Technical-issues and all

Thank you so much for such a great interview. I love Heilung´s music and I can say that I agree and I feel all they say and I resonate with it. To me there are several types of music and artist. Some touches just my ear, some touches my heart and some touches my soul. Only few musicians could merge and penetrate into all my being and even further and deeply into my soul. Heilung is one of the few and thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating such mesmerizing and beautiful music and all the ritual concept ♥
When I first seen videos of these guys live I was at first confused, I didn't know what to make of it but I was instantly drawn to their music. I don't understand a single word spoken in any of their songs but I would love to see them live in Michigan one day. They really need to do a tour visiting more than just a couple of states. I know they may not be that big or have a huge fallowing over here, but their concerts look amazing.
Every song is a ritual, every voice is a call, every resonance permeates the soul. A call to action. Honor the old ways and seek harmony. This is what Heilung means to me.
This group popped up in my recommended after watching a few Trobe de Morte” videos.. and they are by far my new favorite mood... with roots in Germany, Scotland and Norway this makes me feel alive, like my soul has been missing something and finally found it🖤
Thank you Hielung for your talent and incredibly beautiful sounds, your new song Anaona, so feminine and primal maybe because I work around animals, horse wispering especially but other animals, cat and dogs, steers, I understand these creatures, many ways they are better beings than we humans are

I was there too Brother!
I love the degree of eldritch insanity in your post, you really make me feel like being inside a lovecraftian apocalyptic story :D
Best. Reply. Ever. EVER!
Proud to be a Member of this Family! Thank U for what U do. U grabbed me by my Primal parts and I've never been the same again. I will see you in Detroit Sept. 10th, 2022.
Can't wait!
💯
Literally, banging different types of angled rocks to larger boulders on the ground shaped differently to create melodic percussion, and water reeds with holes as wind instruments are thought to be the oldest of instruments
We paint our drums with our blood.....bruh this band is on a wholenother level 🔥 can't stop listening
Neither can we! Stop listening, that is!
@@GhostCultMag fr...definitely a breath of fresh air...lol got it playing in the background rn...keep up the good content 🔥
Saw them in Silver Spring, MD...no words to describe the experience...hope they come back next year!!!
I’m studying history and hope to go into museum work and help make history more accessible, immersive and interactive for people. And Heilung do exactly that, and with such passion and authenticity. They’re a huge inspiration!!! I’ve been telling everyone I know about them since I discovered them :)
That is awesome! Best of luck!
@@GhostCultMag thank you so much!!!
Thank you Maria, for including our indigenous Native American Tribes, you all warm my soul and my heart
Heilung rocks, Best Wishes to the Collective!
Edit: Also fact that Nature right now is in Great Danger, needs more attention to it
Great interview! They are so well spoken and answered in such detail! Its really good to see them taking off and getting huge support here in the US. I find it amazing, too, how different Maria's other band, Euzen, is compared to Heilung.....just multi-talented musicians all around!
Chris is in Euzen too. They also have another project called Songleikr.
♥️Maria♥️ and to all involved #HailODIN
Skål!!
Keefy, I want to say that I greatly appreciate the way you handled this interview and your obvious connection to the music. The humility on display in this video is hard to find these days. Be well and take care!
Thanks so much!
Pagan belief has it that anyone who uses their own hands to make a useful object whether it be a music instrument or a flint point or a tattoo or a song , there is a bit of your own magic your own essence is in that object ... Heilung Forever !
As a Mexican American this music to me his very HARD! I LOVE IT ! I can't wait to be at one of their shows!
Awesome! This will tour here again soon!
the perfomance of the ritual was amazing and perfectly. I think most of us who attendant this performance get very emotional.
Well said!
I absolutely love Heilung!
I do have to say that this is the first time that I saw an "Asia" patch on a metalhead's jacket, though I can honestly say that my local FM station played an Asia tune during the lunch segment because "Nobody hears this much anymore." Serendipity.
Amazing comment! This patch is older than most of our fans 😛
amazing Ceremony in NY, thank you for the amazing energy.
Glad you enjoyed it! it was an unforgettable few nights!
it's already been said but this is one of the best interviews (conversations) I have ever seen.
What a fantastic band.. can't wait to see them live in Ireland some time in the near future.. !!
Thanks for watching! Hopefully, in our best interviews we learn stuff right along with the fans. This was one of those days.
It’s regalia not costumes
Thank you brothers and sisters!
The family will be there! Im so excited the stars are all that have been missing from the ritual.
Can’t absorb enough of their energy
I feel that very much!
Amazing! Absolutely attending an open air event with this spiritual work of art!
Thanks for thi reply! You rule!
These aren't my people, but I want to be their people. Goddamn inspiring stuff. I've been heavy into them in the last 12 months......stumbling on their music in a game trailer and finding out what the hell I'd just heard. Can't get enough of them even now.
Us too! Once you see them in person, it changes you!
I love these guys the band is amazing.
Saaaaaaaaaaaame \m/ \m/
They bring the true primal spirit out of us to this ritual.
They were also surprised and and then again not shocked at some of the more puritanical cities they went to on the East Coast.
I predict in the future concert venues won't be able to contain the rituals. Nature will be the way...
@@GhostCultMag I agree!
Я вас люблю😊.удачи вам и процветания во всем !
Please come to Greece
I just love Heilung. I'm happy to be part of your community and enjoy your music.
I love this! This combines three or my favorite things music, culture, history . Thank you 💓
In Las Vegas Nevada we have Sam Boyd stadium that does rock festivals
These guys are the explanation to why Europe has so many awesome metal bands per Capita. Despite changes in religion/govts, the deeper culture and practices stay on.
Exactly!
Hopefully they will do live rituals again and you won't need to go to a major festival to see them.
They radiate an air of calmness I think they even had an effect on the interviewer cuz at first he seemed really nervous and was checking himself a lot and by like a third of the way through he seems a lot calmer
True. Keefy had just gotten over covid-19, too.
1. Fun Fun Fun Festival in Austin is outdoors... (assuming it is still around)
2. If you like ritual muzik check out AMF - Aesthetic Meat Front/Foundation
3. Hopefully next tour they can make it further south!
They have their eyes set on many outdoor to make their dream a reality. Hopefully, Red Rocks can happen.
What a great interview with such amazing people! I’ve only found them a couple months ago and am in such love with all they do! Seeing this for myself will be a great point in my life. I can’t wait!
I attended a Ritual in Stuttgart on 14/12/22 . I was mentally blown away. The intensity & the rithyms really entranced me. At times t he lighting brought me back only to go back into another unpronounceable trip.
I did not even know they came to the US.
I can't wait for my first ritual later this year!
she flinged with her eyes when he said we are lucky we have them, we are, there is nothing like them, they are gathered by fate and we are blessed by theyre work.
Their.
@@GhostCultMag xD thank you (y)
Imparting an essence of yourself to an instrument you would use to express. Wow. This is a wise band. Calling a concert a ritual. Thinking about that, I think all concert that has been performed is a ritual, unbeknownst to the crowd and/or the performers.
Great thoughts! Thanks for sharing!
Heilung has been my new favorite for the last two months. Very impressive talent. Thank you for the new awakening.
This music of the ritual is spiritual that’s way it’s so moving to the core of my spirt
This is fantastic..great vest..the REAL deal.
Glad you like it \m/ \m/
Love them they’re so chill and personable. Been listening every day and hope to be a part of a ritual sometime. 🙌🏼🤘🏼
You hit it right on the head. They were immediately friendly and appreciative to do the interview.
Wow, These People are Cool. Thank You & Bless You All With Unconditional Love & Light Energy!!!! Cheers!!!!
One word that is not being used for this experience is "ecstatic".
100%
Absolutely love Heilung group!
Us too! So amazing!
LOVE these guys - i hope they come to FNQ Australia.
That is the heartbeat on the planet you're hearing
A year postponed, but I found this interview after that special open air concert that Chris was teasing at 20:19 ;) I hope you were able to get to it as well, because that show will absolutely go down as one of the most incredible experiences I'll have. Technical-issues and all
I would have killed to get to Red Rocks! Hoping they come back some day!
Someday, my kids will allow me and be old enough to let me see there show 😅 I'm a huge fan of there art - and its an huge inspiration for my personal style. Thank you Heilung
I hope so too! \m/ \m/
Thank you kindly for these words!
When I first seen videos of these guys live I was at first confused, I didn't know what to make of it but I was instantly drawn to their music. I don't understand a single word spoken in any of their songs but I would love to see them live in Michigan one day. They really need to do a tour visiting more than just a couple of states. I know they may not be that big or have a huge fallowing over here, but their concerts look amazing.
incredible! Just discovered you guys!
I have to say this made my day- hearing them talk . ty . Heilung works. listen. Heal.
Every song is a ritual, every voice is a call, every resonance permeates the soul. A call to action. Honor the old ways and seek harmony. This is what Heilung means to me.
Thanks for sharing! That was awesome!
one of the best interviews
Much appreciated!!
Please come to Australia, I would feel so blessed to be part of your ritual.
This group popped up in my recommended after watching a few Trobe de Morte” videos.. and they are by far my new favorite mood... with roots in Germany, Scotland and Norway this makes me feel alive, like my soul has been missing something and finally found it🖤
Thank you Hielung for your talent and incredibly beautiful sounds, your new song Anaona, so feminine and primal maybe because I work around animals, horse wispering especially but other animals, cat and dogs, steers, I understand these creatures, many ways they are better beings than we humans are
Thanks for watching!
wish I could of went to one of the shows
I wish you could have gone too. It was beautiful. I don't like crowds of people...but standing in the middle of the crowd, I felt peaceful, content!!
I love Heilung. They have Def helped me through my animistic journey and out of catholism . Thank you for explaining your music and the history of it and language. All of it has helped this lonely white girl navigate her way out of christianity and find out of her ancestors and paganism .
Welp, hopefully finding this tribe can help you feel less lonely!
