    Rivian is giving the luxury feel that Tesla customers like myself have been asking for and just haven’t seen. I own a few teslas and have been looking into getting a Rivian seriously for a little bit now just because of how premium the materials look and feel. Also I love the more box style look (kind of like a Range Rover) over the teardrop look. Tesla seems to choose aerodynamics over looks and I get it but my preference leans towards the Rivian. Over time I think as Rivian updates the software, improves its Driver+ functionality, and gains access to the supercharger network (while expanding RAN) it will become an even easier choice to go with the Rivian when looking at the premium car space. Excited to see what Rivian does with R2!

    Great comparison. To me it all comes down to use case. The X is more of an Explorer size. The Rivian is more a Yukon size. We own a new X and a good friend of mine has an R1S. Both are amazing and I love to see Rivian succeed - they make great vehicles. The only comments I have on the content of the video are: (1) Max pack on the Rivian is not worth the additional cost over the large pack - get the large pack. (2) the X is a charging beast in speed and curve. (3) the X is much more efficient (of that matters for your use case … eg, time charging in a road trip). (4) autopilot is usable anywhere, not just on highways. I use it all the time. I like forward to driver+ improving over time.
    Great video Raj - keep up the great work!

      The R1S is not Yukon size. Not nearly that large. It's a couple inches bigger than a Kia Telluride.

    Rivian for the Win! This is why competition is so great. I think the Model X/S days will be numbered pretty soon as older Tesla designs begin to fade in the features wars. Hopefully, Rivian will continue to stay alive and grow stronger. Full disclosure: I own a model Y, but Rivian is rocking it!

      Tesla is not trying to be an exclusive member of lux class, like Maybach, Rolls Royce & such, but what they're trying is completely different, to make most affordable, bit at the same time technologically most advanced car, which leads to building of most safest cars on the road & tesla already have that reputation about safety, but not about price, yet.

      I had 2016 model X, then bought R1S. Just ordered a 2014 Model X with price cut. It’s now a very compelling choice. Drives more car- like and smoother than Rivian. Rivian drives nice, but still can’t hide a truck chassis.

    We were debating about the X or the R1S.. we ended up getting the R1S because of how much more space there was. We have 3 kids, all in car seats/booster seats.. and this car works to perfection with it. We just did a road trip from Sacramento to Disneyland in the Rivian and it was a breeze. Charging at 3rd party chargers is hit or miss, but the drive and the handling of this car is superb.
    One thing you didn't mention is that the Rivian has a built-in hotspot with up to 8 devices that can use it at once. The speed is shockingly fast.. I was driving down I5 and was getting over 50mphs. We put on movies on our laptop and and kids watched it during the drive.
    I never in a million years thought I would ever purchase a 100k+ vehicle, but I am so glad that I did and this was it. No regrets! In fact, I now want the R1T for my next purchase haha

      nail on the head! glad you chose Rivian. Also once the adapter launches next year you will have access to Tesla's Supercharger Network!
      Totally forgot about the hotspot! Good point.

    After driving our model 3 for a few years and now starting to grow our family, at first I was thinking model x. But a lot of the practical limitations you pointed out is what pushed us to the r1s instead. Charging infrastructure is the only big concern but I’m confident with them partnering with Tesla superchargers it’ll be fine. Infotainment is coming soon I’m sure.

    Made some good points. Model X has it limitations, but I do think some of your scoring system should be weighted. The reason Model X has the better range is that it is smaller and more aerodynamic. Range, especially if towing will be better in the Model X, especially if you need the supercharging infrastructure. My biggest complaint with Rivian is that they don't seem near as invested in installing some charging infrastructure themselves, just want to ride on Tesla's coat tails.

    • @TeslaRaj
      @TeslaRaj  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hahahaa very true with the efficiency stand point! Also I’m glad they rode the coat tails now they can compete. Without Tesla Superchargers Rivian wouldn’t be at the table! lol

    I think you are comparing two SUVs with different applications and use cases. The Rivian R1S is more inline with a Land/Range Rover type vehicle, whereas Model X is more of a stealth cruiser lux SUV in its own category. They are two good options.

    Not mentioning better autopilot, active safety, fsd and audio of and $7500 tax incentives of model x means this is clearly biased review

    • @Aegisx5
      @Aegisx5 10 месяцев назад

      Only the 5 seat Model X qualifies for a tax credit. Some variants of the R1S can get half tax credit too, and that's 7 seats. Audio in the Rivian is on par or better than Tesla. The Tesla is ahead on FSD for sure.
      What I didn't like is that the Model X feels like you're driving a minivan, and the 2nd row in the Plaid doesn't fold down so surprisingly not practical. Plus no power frunk.

    • @zackxmoon
      @zackxmoon 9 месяцев назад

      @@Aegisx5 You are correct that only MX 5 seat config qualifies for tax credit, though only the standard range R1S battery config qualifies there.
      I've heard many complain about the non Meridian in house audio system used by Rivian, and after hearing it myself, I found it a bit lacking... though I haven't really tested out the Model X. Maybe you can weigh in on that.
      And aside from FSD in Tesla, I'm still trying to weigh in the differences in performance of standard Autopilot vs the non Driver+ cruise control in Rivian.

    I have had a Tesla Model X 2020 and now I have a Tesla Model X 2022. For me nothing beats the Model X. Interesting, the title of the video is Tesla vs Rivian clash: who will win? However, you clearly had made up your mind for the Rivian before posting the video. Therefore the title of your video is misleading at best.

    Good point on the ease if flattening the back rows, but if i remember correctly, it's a pain in the ass to put them back up.
    I think they each fit into the auto ecosystem. You want a more luxurious BMW/Benz style EV SUV, you go Model X. You want a larger Tahoe/Wagoneer adventure style EV SUV, you go R1S.
