- The griffen, a mythological creature with the body, tail and back legs of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle, is the namesake of the Iso Grifo, an automobile with the hood, grill and engine of an American, but the lines of an Italian sports car. This Italian-American hybrid defines Italian muscle.

Kudos to this guy for actually driving it regularly!
A real beauty! Those people who tell you that you "shouldn't be driving" it are either just "investors" or snobs. Cars are meant to be driven, unless they're Yugos.
There is an elegance to the Iso's styling and lines which make a Jensen Interceptor look crude by comparison. The layout and visibility are practical for a grand tourer. Simply fabulous.
like a 69 Chevy Stingray and De Tomaso Pantera had a one night stand
They went on an vacation in Italy, & left their baby lol
张鑫宇 hahaha
I've seen these cars in person back when they were just $35k in the 90s. They look like a mix of 67 Corvette and De Tomaso Mangusta
so true!!!! OMG!!!
That’s exactly what I thought!!
This car haunts me. It's one of my absolute favorites of all time. My introduction to it came from Matchbox! I started restoring diecast cars as a hobby just a few years ago and came across this incredible Iso. Somehow this beautiful car was off my radar until I started searching for orphaned Matchox and Hot Wheels cars at 52 years old! Ironically there are no shortages of the Matchbox version. If I had known about this car when I was 8 I too would have started saving and figuring out a way to own one in my lifetime like the subject of this video. Alas, I'm afraid there's not enough time left now. But thanks to Petrolicious for giving me an up close look.
+Chris Fagan I had the Matchbox too. Dark blue, and the doors opened.
Chris Fagan Do you also deal with cars made by Penny?
I also discovered the Iso Grifo because of an old matchbox. My dad gave me his old matchbox collection when I was 13. I’ve taken care of it and collected quite a lot of my own vintage diecast now but that Iso is just such a cool looking car. I put it next to the Lamborghini Marzal
ISO Grifo,Monteverdi,Bizzarini, Maserati Ghibli,Alfa Romeo Montréal,and Ferrari 365 GTB 4,the most beautiful cars ever!
The single most beautiful car ever made. I won't say you're lucky...as there was no luck involved. It was shear hard work and determination that acquired this car. Well done.
The De Tomaso Pantera is another great example of Italian muscle; it's got Italian design with a ford engine.
Another great example of a nice car built badly with the wrong engine...
Beauty, with the; BEAST!
@@TheWierdFish Pardon but you are wrong, Iso cars were famous to be built perfectly with very high construction standards. For this reason they were extremely expensive also compared to Ferrari or Lamborghini. Back in the days Iso was kind of italian Aston Martin, making luxury gentlemen GTs. Regarding the engine ISO was a very small family company with no resource to built it's own engine and no chance to get an italian one (Ferrari,Lambo or Maserati). The only way was to get an american powertrain, they starded with the GM corvette V8 and, at the end of their production with the ISO Lele, they moved to the Ford 351 Cleveland.
@@TheWierdFish The engine is amazing, I can tell you didn't know what you were talking about back then.
Who the hell are people to say that someone shouldn't drive a car they own? Cars are built to be driven; if you want an investment, buy bonds or something. If you want a statue, buy one; but ffs, if you buy a car drive it. It's what the builders would have wanted.
I have respect a lot of respect for this guy; keep enjoying your car, man, don't take shit off people.
People that say you shouldn't drive a car should just never talk.
Damn straight!
+Stu K But....motorcycles....
Steven Zettel Hahaha touche! I totally agree too. I wouldnt even own a car if it wasn't for winter and me being a wimp in the cold.
*****
That's what multiple layers are for! Seriously, as long as you can block the wind, you can get yourself pretty dang warm with the proper clothing. Long underwear, fleece pants/jacket/gloves, and then wind/waterproof motorcycle gear, you'll be set!
Steven Zettel Yeah I know. Have some buddies up in Seattle that keep telling me to just get heated gear already.
Looking at buying a Tiger 800, so maybe that will get me to stop being lazy. I just need to make room in the garage. haha
Italian sporty elegance. Absolute beautyfull
this youtube channel is so damn underrated..
Glad to see it being driven. Too many of them sit around unloved. I can relate to the owner. I love when people decide to talk to me about how I should use MY car. I've driven the hell out of every classic I've owned very respectfully and enjoyed every minute of it!
This has been my dream car since I was 6 and my dad gave me a Corgi version that he used to play with as a kid. It had little crystals for headlights and I still think it is the coolest car ever.
Love this car!!! It's the prettiest car ever, alongside Bizzarrini 5300GT and E-Type Jaguar!!
...and Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale '67
God, how can metal be shaped into something so GORGEOUS!!
One of the worlds greatest and most beautiful cars.. rare.... gorgeous styling and awesome Corvette engine...this easily better than any lambo..ferrari etc...
My uncle bought one in the last two weeks. It's a badass auto. He got it for £ 438,666 . worth it. . . . YES !
I was drawn to Iso like most others... they’re achingly beautiful cars. I began to be really interested after learning that the drivetrain wouldn’t cost me the soul of my first born to maintain. “Hybrid” cars truly are the best of both worlds
Petrolicious is possibly one of the best series on the tube.
You are so lucky to be able to own the single most beautiful car ever❤️
A car is to be driven! not kept as a museum piece to just sit there and gather dust. Keep driving man! that car is one of the sexiest cars I have ever seen
Drive the socks off it.
Absolutely fabulous. One of the most beautiful cars ever.
an italian stingray
Beautiful. One of my favourite classics.
Absolutely stunning car. If i were to be really picky i'd wish for stick instead of the auto box but other than that .... wow.
Also, this channel needs to go to 150k+ subscribers. I really have no idea how this hasn't gone through the roof yet. A proper (only) channel for real enthusiast and the material is sooo damn well put together if a little too short.
Please please don't give up and keep these coming !
Beautiful car!
If you love this car. Drive it daily. Life is not long. We don't live forever.
Surprisingly, you can hear the Italian influence in the exhaust.
It's like a more beautiful Italian Jensen Interceptor. Bravo!
Beautiful car, this is in my fantasy garage along with a Facel Vega 2.
Once you see the Alfa 105 coupe tail lights, you can never un-see them
Man, this car is clean as hell.
love his attitude
Beautiful!
Breathtaking... The true definition of beauty.
Beautiful car great to see it being driven
Awesome! Piero Rivolta now live in Sarasota FL
A beautiful car from every angle. Really nice profile. Even the slightly unusual treatment at the back looks just right. Same appeal as the mark 1 E type.
it's great that he actually drives his cars rather than let them gather dust in a garage
The back glass and rear end are really beautiful 👌
Gorgeous automobile
Amazing! :)
As a child my favorite car was the Giulia Gt; consequently my favorite supercar was the Grifo since it fitted the Alfa Gt rear lights and was designed by the same genius!
that is pure car passion
Beautiful.
Have you ever even worked on an engine? The whole point he was trying to make in the video is that the engine is really easy to work on and gives him peace of mind while making enough power. Those engines were highly tunable and in stock form a version of the 5.4L in the Iso Grifo made 385hp, before carburetor modification, higher lift cams and higher compression pistons. All the modifications could be made in your garage without too much headache.
What a passionate trail..! By the way, Iso Rivolta were produced at Bresso workshop in suburban Milan. They certainly had a creative streak as they were the ones that also designed and marketed the Isetta bubble car and consequently licensed to Bmw. As a teenager, I managed to see the original factory walls before it was torn down. Where it stood, nowadays is public green space... cheers
That is beautiful!
Its beautiful the lines on it are so smooth and subtle and the back looks similar to a mustang fastback
I adore these 7 litre monsters. Such devastatingly beautiful cars with a rarity to match.
They were built with 327 Chevy engines about 5.4L. This car looks like it has a replacement engine with a PCV system and newer style exhaust manifolds. Most likely a 350 engine which is 5.7L.
@@markg7030 There are also 7 liter versions
@@AlbertoDsign I know that. I was pointing out that this car has a 350 and not a 327. both are small block engines. The 427 (7 litre) is a big block.
@@markg7030 Aaaah ok. Yes, this is the small block one, the 7 liter has a big bulk on the hood. I think I've seen the "normal" one.
Never forget allways add 1% two stroke oil to your fuel when using modern ultra dry
eco fuels in old carbed vintage sports cars, in Germany any Porsche driver adds 1% two stroke oil Api tc !
When I first saw it, I thought "This is it". Wonderful car with the outstanding sound. For now I bought myself a T-shirt with a drawing of the car 🙂
A car collector who DRIVES his cars, nice!
It looks great.
I got a ride in one back in 1981. From White Plains NY to Briarcliff Manor NY. Miss you, John Mastrianni! (sp?)
This car looks like a cross between a '77 Aston Martin V8 Vantage and a Ferrari Daytona!
Beautiful Vehicle.
what a gorgeous car.
beautiful magnificent amazing car
When I give my (lesser but good stature) cars to my kids, I think it will be ever more valuable having the scars I put on it, etc. "This happened when my grandfather did this..." It really is about the journey. Even if I still don't quite get it.
That’s a gorgeous car with a gorgeous sound.
Congratulations - very beautiful car.
Great Italian car.
I like this guy. He's not made of money like a lot of the exotic car owners.
Mercedes W111 Coupe or Convertible at 00:46, up on the lift. Gorgeous! The Iso is beautiful, and respect to the owner for making his passion a reality, through lots of creativity and hard work. It'd be fun to see the rest of the collection, and hear how he found each car, what condition they were in, etc.
Quite inspirational, really! He reminds me of me!
wow i had never seen that car before, it truly is one of the most beautiful car ive seen!
I really like this car and its design, and the video has a good quality to it.
Un'altra super bella!
I love the car and love the story!
that is a true beauty of a car.
Stunning car
Gorgeous
A Ferrari 365GT 2+2 in the background? Definitely a poor's man garage
I wish there were more of these in the states
love those alfa tail lights!!
thank you for the facts sir
There is not an ISO with a V8 I don't love. The Grifo is just gorgeous!
Giotto Bizzarrini - il genio e la macchina!
Never heard of this car, but it sure is beautiful.
I'm not getting into this argument but, all i'll say is the new V8 Corvette is a great engine, lots of torque and good miles per gallon, very reliable. The 1980's Corvette ZR1 held numerous world record (which was broken after 50 years) for long running mileage records, thus proving how reliable the Corvette V8 's are. Anyway it all comes down to some great cars that we all have our favourite...most of the time its the looks that are the number 1 thing buyers go for!!!
What do you think about the new ZR1 Corvettes 1064 HP 800TQ 5.5L flat-plane crank DOHC Twin Turbo V8?
Discovered it 2 days ago, already addicted...goddamn!
A 60`s corvette dressed with an italian suit.
very beautiful
$25,000 in 1986 was about the equivalent of $60,000 today...so even at it's lowest sale price it was still prohibitively expensive for most people.
Front end reminds me of a Montiverdi and the back end reminds me of a '70 V8 Vantage.
Gonna go for a ride in one next week! im blessed
Grande bella macchina
Wow, desperately beautiful.
Wow stunning car, so interesting to see italian style on american power.
Wow! Such a beautiful car. Never heard of an Iso Grifo before. Kinda looks like an early 60's Vette that's been sexified(?) a bit. Very cool. I like it!
I love the styling and was drawn to it years ago. As a teenager I got a Silver one, it was Tyco slot car however, but hey, beautiful car! (gotta dig out my cars and see if I still have it).😄
Rare and great car
the alfa romeo junior back lights looks good on this great car!
I agree!
The best/worst problem to have. Have an awesome rare car, but want to drive it every day.
FOR THE LAST 45 YEARS I want 1 !
I love this channel. Many uploads in the past few days, which is great! Is there any way you could keep your eyes out for a 1970-1983 Datsun Z Car that is worthy of a feature? I have read your Q and A on the website about the Datsun 240Z but a video would be stellar.
excelent channel
