White Sox had a bigger mistake by having a huge 'division tax'. For example: Twins writer Dan Hays said on the Foul Territory podcast that they were going to give away Luke Keaschel for Fedde. White Sox were wanting one of the Twins top 3 prospects and they were not changing their minds. Twins backed out because of the overprice.

I don't know that the Dodgers' FO valued Randy Arozarena as highly as the fans do. I wanted him on the team, I thought he would be a natural for that fan-base. the former Mannywood would have become Randywood in left field.

I would take Teoscar over Randy... and that is the deal. It's a righthand left fielder. I would rather stick Mookie in right. Randy is batting .180 with runners in scoring position. That's not the guy we need. And the argument that he was good in the post-season.. yeah... in 2020!! And not since. I will take Teoscar. Randy didn't fit.

I think with thè Braves, AA did what he could. He wasn’t willing to overpay for pitching like some teams did. Not only that but several teams wanted Spencer Schwellingbach. I’d have been mad if he was traded. He’s a future ace. In the we got a good outfield bat and a good reliever. In the end, given what teams wanted, I’m satisfied.

My Tigers didn't really make any real mistakes. They just came up short in a couple ways that prevented them from having an A level deadline. First of all, there probably should have been a third player in the Flaherty package. There's a few factors that keep this from being a mistake. First of all nine out of ten deadlines, this would have been a perfectly fair return for Flaherty. This market just made this the one year that was not the case. Secondly, the day before the Flaherty trade the Tigers got a reliever from the Dodgers for just cash. It's possible that Harris looked at that as the third piece in the Flaherty deal. Finally, even though Flaherty is a Free Agent, there is a very good chance that Flaherty returns to the Tigers next year. The relationship between the team and Jack was extremely positive and the Dodgers are more likely to not make him an offer at all than to pursue him heavily.
The second weakness of the Tigers deadline was not receiving a left handed pitcher (which is a need throughout the organization). This is where I think the organization's focus on the slider hurts them. I say this because there are just fewer lefties with good sliders. Since the slider is the off-speed pitch they seem to place the most emphasis on, it predisposes them to acquiring Right handed pitching.
In all, a B+ deadline for the Tigers. They got nine prospects. Seven of whom are Top 60 in the organization. Four of whom are in the Top 30.

I like the moves that the Cardinals made getting Fedde and Pham, but I wish they had kept Tommy Edman.
Assuming that he gets healthy and plays, I pictured him as a spark for the offense (more than Pham) and with the multi-role players on the team it would have given them the chance to get Gorman out of the lineup (he has been terrible lately).
The team has the worst run differential in their division and they're still in second place so they have been good at winning close games, but they have also lost quite a few as well and an offensive spark like Edman could have changed things.
Maybe they can't get Fedde and Pham without trading Edman, but there has to have been a way to make it happen.
Pitching wins in the playoffs, but if you don't score any runs...it doesn't matter how good your pitching is...a 1-0 loss is still a loss. The team needs offense.

I think the Blue Jays were not the winners everybody thinks they were and it was the Astros that saved them and screwed the Twins in the process. The Blue Jays paid 2M of the 3.9ish remaining on the Turner deal and only got a dart back? They paid 1M for this year and another 1.9M next year on IKF's deal and got darts back? Plus adding 2M to the Turner deal is roughly the difference more they had to recoup in another trade (most likely IKF deal) to get under the luxury tax.If The Blue Jays are competing next year then trading IKF made no sense until you do the math.
The above could have been a bigger disaster if Houston did not bail Shatkins out with their offer because, according to one of the Twins media, the Twins had a "deal" for Kukuchi that seen the Blue Jays paying all but 1M of his salary for 2 low grade prospects BUT Houston jumped in with their offer and not even Shatkins could screw that up (maybe). Soooooo if they did the Twins deal how many more would the Blue Jays had to trade to get under the luxury tax? ...Shakes head.....Shatkins had one job, get under the tax........if it was about replenishing the farm then they should have sold everybody.

The Rockies one is weird because they wanted to trade from the looks of it at least 4 of the three my guess is theres way less value from hitters because of Coors so Rockies probably had a asking price for Diaz but teams wanted way less so they just settled for a comp pic instead probably my guess

Dodgers needed a centerfielder and Randy can not play CF. Dodgers priorities were DEF and Randy sux at Defense and he has no positional versatility. If Randy was a rental I think the Dodgers would have been all over it. But 2.5 years of sub par defense in LF wasn't appealing to them. Dodgers have better youth options than Randy for the next 2.5 years.Robert was the answer but the White Sox have no idea what they are doing. It takes 2 to trade.

    • @laartwork

Yes. I think these youtubers got Randy in the fans heads. He didn't make sense. He can only replace Teoscar and he isn't nearly as good. He has a batting average of .188 with men in scoring position.
They then say he is great in the post season.
He was... in ONE post season in 2020.

I honestly believe the biggest mistake was from Mike Elias and The Orioles. Not getting a Dominant Closer will cost this team in the playoffs. There is no pitcher currently in the O’s bullpen that I have total confidence in when they are in the game. They are counting on Coloumbe coming back, but that’s not a certainty. We all know Big Felix isn’t coming back this year either.
Big opportunity lost to not only improve this year’s team, but to pair another high leverage pitcher with Bautista next year.
I truly hope I’m wrong, but I have literally had nightmares about Kimbrel and Cano blowing saves in the playoffs!?

Given the pitchers other teams wanted, AA did the right thing and won the trade he made. Why make a mistake and trade the future to acquire players țo replace guys who are about to come off țhe IL? Fried and Lopez are coming off soon. Harris comes off on the 19th. Albies will be back in September and Whit Merrifield is playing well in the meantime. Acuna will be ready for Spring training and Strider will be back next year too. As a Braves fan I’m satisfied.

You're wrong on the Kukuchi deal. What the Astros gave up is less than what the Dodger's gave up. Neither Loperfido or Wagner are highly rated prospects leaguewide only in the Astros's system. The players the Dodgers gave up were much more highly rated. Bloss, was a 3rd round pick, just like the Dodgers gave up. It was an overpay but not as much as has been made out. And when you look at who actually pitches every 5th day, Kukuchi does it Flannerty doesn't. He's even now working on a bad back. BTW, his first game in an Astros jersey, he tied the team record for the most consecutive Ks at 8. Not only that but he throws very hard and in that game we saw what the Astros had planned for him, lower his 4 seam and use more off speed. 11Ks.
