Well that guy did a wonderful job in keeping the door open and fueling the fire !
No kidding a couple of people told him to close it. Also I don’t know what the hell you thought he was accomplishing.
He wanted the city to have a try at his product.
Done on purpose ??
@@fmfdoc7778 I was thinking the same thing probably arson thinking he's gonna destroy the evidence
Boss: "If you leave the store, you're on break. If you are on break, you don't get paid!" Him: "my foot is still in the store.....I'm on the clock, bro!"
Perfect video of why you close the door to shut off the flow path.
The employee is a civilian. Smh. He doesn't know that.
There was a vent in the roof so not going to stop fire flow.
Yep that's a smoke shop alright 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The way he held that door open makes me think he was tired of that store and needed the insurance money😂
Why did he keep the door open? Was he trying to stoke the fire along?
He's a civiian.
@@owensweetland342 That has nothing to do with him being an idiot.
Everyone is a fire science expert. This employee is simply a civilian who's called 9-1-1 and is awaiting the arrival of the fire department 🚒.
He, like most regular citizens, isn't aware of flow paths, etc.
@@ffjsb it has EVERYTHING to do with it. Perhaps you should take a ride to this place and ask him about his motivation to keep the door open. Perhaps it would ease your mind.
@@owensweetland342 Is he aware of what HOT is????
Very good video!! Caught lots of early action.
Good job at feeding that fire with the door open..
you're right, the fire surely would have put itself out due to lack of oxygen seeing how the structure is air-tight
@@gsarjos no but it doesn’t help at all.. keeping it open like that
Insurance job
Dude risking his life to make that fire grow faster. Good job!
Great footage
Sure looks like the fellow in the beginning, before the NYFD arrived, was hoping to give the fire some good oxygen!
Maybe he wanted to make sure his business was completely destroyed to collect the insurance money?
Good on you for trying to get him to close the door. Too bad dumbo didn't listen to you. Dude was like a deer in the headlights I wonder if he even heard you. Amazing footage tho bro!💯
Just wish the video would've been a little longer to see more of the action. Either way great job bro.
Close the door!!! You’re spreading the fire!!!
One big bong!
6:00 Should he have waited for someone with a charged line, before attempting to breach that door in anyway? Maybe he should of at least touched the outside of the door with his gloved hands, to feel for any heat. That way he would of at least had some idea about it. Instead, he breached the door, which could have backdrafted (exploded) in his face, if the door was sealed shut. I'm not complaining here, just making an observation based on me own smoke eating dayz at station 63.
Damn that 180 degree kink in the engines supply line is crazy. Lucky he got anything at all
Ah the misinformed on door control on a working fire. Great video
Up in Smoke!
New York City bravest doing what they do best
That guy should play the lotto of almost getting caught in a flashover
The owner saved the FDNY time. They usually let it spread pretty good.
Is this a joke? He literally kept the front door open feeding that fire all the oxygen it needed until it flashed on him and he finally closed the door. The owner did exactly what you should not do.
another wannabe
@@jakemartinez4208 What he meany was, the owner did what the FDNY Usually do. They help the fire get really big before putting any water on it.
Nice Rundown
Bet that was battery fire
They called HazMat for lithium Ion batteries.
And no one wearing scba😂😂😂😂
The brothers thank you for ensuring that the fire got the store that it needed.
The guy at the door was trying for that new flash-cut hairstyle. He definitely ran from the door like his rear was on fire when the vapor rolled toward him!
i mean i know FDNY is the big dogs in the fire service but that was WAY too long from arrival to getting water on that fire imo
The FDNY is one of the worst departments in the USA if not the world. If people took off the Rose-Colored Glasses and evaluated their irresponsible performance, they would see it in every one of these videos.
Great capture citizen.
Tip focus on the fire only.
Ladder guy #1 struggling with the back door.....then Ladder guy #2 comes along and kicks it in....yikes. Seems like these guys had several issues on this fire. The nozzleman seems to have some difficulty operating the knob to get water on the fire...and E285......Nice kink in the supply line, hope you dont need much water.
Saw that as well. It almost seemed that his mask got caught up in the nozzle some how as they were advancing the 2 1/2 on the Bravo Charlie corner right after the door got donkie kicked
Nozzleman was struggling in the B/C corner right after the door got Donnie kicked. Looks like his mask was caught up in the nozzle some how when they were advancing
And this is the, all mighty FDNY!
Yup agreed, the supply line is just pure lazy. The OV not finishing the door and maintaining its integrity is poor training. FDNY seems to have lost some basics.
@@ironeagle22a Did they ever have them? I have a file of FDNY videos accumulated over the past 10 years or so that has an almost endless list of bad firefighting from them. I don't even think I have seen them do anything correct, ever.
was that guy holding the door open with his foot?
Keeping the door open gives the fire more oxygen to burn, next time close the door immediately.
Can't make the rent this month- keeping the door open to move things along...
I am watching from Elmira NY looks like a video arcade on fire
Nice catch
Did you see the huge kink in the supply line?
Respect aux pompiers pour leurs dévouement aussi il prend le risque pour sauver les gens et les biens les anges gardiens de la ville
Does FDNY have a policy against engine companies using tank water until a positive water supply is established? I kept waiting for the line brought to the front door to be charged, and it just wasn't happening.
My thoughts exactly. Not one of FDNY's better performances...
@@michaelcannon3978 They always perform like that.
usually drop the booster in a oh shit situation when you need water cause people are trapped on floor above
5 mins from scene arrival until the first water was put on the fire at the back door. Pathetic.
The FDNY does every single thing backwards. It is right there in every single video on RUclips. Children at play making every fire as exciting as possible. If people looked past the hero crap, they can't miss it.
WOW... Good video!!!!!
If they only knew keeping the door open makes it worse
Chiba !
adding air helps the fire to grow, plus if its a flash fire you will be bar-b-qued
Guess never heard of smoke inhalation
No rush guys no rush
SOP for FDNY!
Hitting the THC too hard there buddy! LOL
at the 2 minute mark a back draft occurs
No street boxes? It would have been quicker.
Water on the fire? Lines weren't charged!
SOP!
amazing bravery. how anyone could walk into that
That really is a smoke shop
Dude needs to get away from there !
Is that dude taking a selfie or is he stuck??
that cowboy at 7:12 is lucky he didn’t get his face burned off lol. geez!
They had the munchies after that fire
Alot of overhaul needed there😮😮😮😂😂😂😂
Why do they respond Rescue units to fires, before they even confirm it's a fire of serious size?
Oh my that shops a smokin 😂
why was he holding the door open to fuel the fire?
Nice one, giving the fire fuel …
How did they have 3 lines stretched, when the first due engine didn’t even enter the fire yet?
Because the audio was trimmed and is clearly not in sync with the video
Now this is what a REAL smoke shop looks like !!! Should've named the place Smoke Haven not Bud Haven. Are you holding the door for customers >!?
A major backdraft would have great right around 1:40.
That guy so started it for the payout, he is stoking the fire to max out damage
Nothing in there was illegal. You could say it all went up in smoke. 😅
Lithium batteries are no joke. But based on the chimney maybe some honey?
Guess my man didn’t want the nozzle and handled it off
Oh no not the weedshop!!! Tf was that guy doing at the front door??😂😂😂😂
Why he holding door open to feed the fire
I have to be honest and ask you why you didn’t call it in? Was filming it more important? I have watched countless videos of yours over the years and always gave positive comments.
I didn’t take this video… the first thing I wrote in the bio was that it was from Citizen.Com.. all I did was cut parts of the video and add the Audio to the background of it….
Unreal that ppl cant grasp that concept. Also the guy in the weed shop knows nothing and cares nothing about flow path and fire behavior. If he watches this video he will get 1st class instruction as to what he did wrong.
@@fa3556 atleast someone gets it lol, unreal…. You’d think I’d at least record it horizontally if I took the video
NOT THE "BUD HAVEN"!!!!!
10ft soft doesn’t kink and gets the engine tight to the curb…
take out those windows
Yah think?
With took them so long to get water on the fire
That smoke burned the fk outta that guy at the door!!!
wtf is old mate doing with the door?
FLAKE THAT HANDLINE OUT..
His shift ends in 20 minutes, and he is waiting for his relief....
Does "door patrol" hate all of the other people in the building?
Everyone here knows to close all doors and windows during a fire to help starve the fire of oxygen, Everyone except this guy right there. 😂
Perfect example that New York doesn't put the gear on until they actually see a fire that's wrong that takes minutes to do that they should be dressed and ready to go once they jump off that truck that is just bad fire management I'm sorry to say
Big Vape
Video guy was smart! Too bad the other guy didn't listen to him
Camera dude needs a tripod , must be tripping
People need to be educated best thing that store worker could have done was close that front door and get back
Not fully dressed on arrival. No urgency. No charged line! Pouring FFers into the structure with NO CHARGED LINE! Poking at the side door with no mask and no hope of getting it open. Look at all the low-level smoke and no masks. Opening the side door with NO CHARGED LINE! This is the FDNY??? Why would you not have a fan at the front door and open windows to vent so you could see someth9ing inside?
great video wish it was shot sideways
This weird guy who seems to be filming himself in the smoke while holding the door open and barely describing the situation for his social network, will definitely have to answer several questions from the investigating police officers. Let's just say, his reaction seems quite suspicious to me. With my years of experience, any normal individual would have quickly left the danger. I'm also curious if he called 911? A story to follow.
Don't inhale lol
what a clown holding the door open
Our fire department can handle that fire with our 1936 ford and 2 1957 Jimmys. 15 gallons of dawn dish liquid as foam substitute
That's the case in the vast majority of big city fires. They make a big show about doing nothing. For me it would have been a 1957 Mack pumper, tank water, a fan and three or four guys with strong and responsible work ethics.
He fueled that fire by holding the door open and feeding it oxygen 🤦♂️ what was he trying to accomplish with holding open the door?
...get insurance money for his failed business?????
So many heroes with an opinion. Share your expertise at your spaghetti fundraiser not on here.
Can we agree Chief it would have been better to close the door? Can you please pass the Parmesan cheese lord and savior. How about it took way too long to dispatch this fire.
Man makes a blanket statement and acts as if it were a drop the mic moment 😂😂😂😂 man you share your expertise bud! I'm a professional firefighter and that douche canoe created a very destructive flow path by holding that door open. What a choad
How about instead of being more concerned with videoing it he should have called it in
I CAN agree about the door. I dont think most ppl here realize this is a citizen app. video NOT video from the guy that posted it. The dispatch audio is overlayed and the timing of it does not correspond with what you are seeing in the video.
@@fa3556 I suspected that. It made no sense. Regardless I don’t know how to process what I saw. There is room for improvement at every level.
😂😂lemme just keep this door WIDE OPEN and feed this INSURANCE SCAM all the oxygen it NEEDS
NOT GOOD
He better hope that was an accident because you know all that radio action and trucks rolling isn't free!
I'm going to be an FDNY Firefighter and put out fires
Love the FDNY. They make every other fire dept look like Usain Bolt. Never took a nap walking to the door of a fire bldg. also haven’t these guys seen a fire nozzle before?
I think eyes are being opened to the reality of what USA fireplaying really is.
Bringing a water can up to this is just dumb. I hate the robot response. Bring what you NEED, not just the same thing every time...
In most if not all FDNY Truck companies, on structural fires the can man brings the hook & can.....EVERYTIME! Its part of his tool compliment while riding in the CAN position on the rig. No he doesnt always use it but its part of being a disciplined FF. Sometimes in larger commercials the canman will also bring a search rope. It may seem odd to some but its done for a very good reason.
@@fa3556 There's NO good reason to bring a can to a fire that it's going to be USELESS on. It's better to bring something you CAN use. That's just mindless firefighting. You should have the brains and training to adapt to the fire you're fighting, not some page out of a training manual that doesn't apply to the fire you're fighting.
@@ffjsb ok
@@ffjsbActually the door the canman (as well as other truckies) entered was the entrance to the apartments above the fire. As you are well aware, their job is to do a search and look for extension. I would rather have a can and hook, as well as my irons man and others when conducting a search while the engine works the fire. There is nothing robotic about this other than your comment. You CAN go back to recliner, now.
@@Fyrfytr Why were they all ganged up at the main entrance??? I get taking it in exposures. But too often I see a bunch of robots that aren't trained to think.
Great shots. Did someone nail that dopes foot to the floor. Bet he was feeling the heat.
Bad place to put masks on. If that door blew out. 285 MPO check your supply line. FF at rear door, put your mask on and keep working. Guys need that vent
Insurance claim? He might as well been dumping gas on that fire keeping that some open like that
You should definitely show this video to fire officials. That dude made that fire a lot worse a lot faster than it should have been.
Maybe he was trying to destroy the illegal stuff before the FD showed up. 🥵
Insurance scam 👍
WTF?? almost 8:00 minutes into the video before we actually saw any water on it!!! that's BS that they couldn't get water on that quicker - even when you saw fire coming out of the hole above the door - simply could have shoved a nozzle in it to know down the heat and the fire too....instead of just letting the fireman kick it open only to have been greeted with a lot of fire!! where did that guy go that was helping to feed the fire by holding the door open with his foot???
\
Did you watch the same video? The first engine, 285 I believe, went inside the front door at about the 5:00 mark. Do you expect to see them putting water on the fire with the interior attack?
Start the clock after the company went on scene not at the start of the video.
@@rcor87 Yeah! And they went in empty handed with no way to stop the fire. And the FDNY couldn't coordinate a barbeque cook out, let alone a fire.
@JB91710 looks like they had a line there to me
@@rcor87 With NO WATER in it for how long? That line should have been pulled and charged within 40 seconds of arrival. A complete entry team should have been fully dressed and ready to go in with that line. Other firefighters should have broken out all those front windows. None of that happened because the FDNY showed up instead of a real fire department. One of my 5%ers.
