I just bought a DeWALT DCF899 to replace my car's shock absorber. Easily removed all nuts from the shock absorber. I am very happy with the DeWALT DCF899
I couldn't break my rack and pinion to frame bolts free by hand, so i got this impact. Luckily it just barely fit into the tight space. It broke the bolts free in like 2 seconds. Since then, i have used it hundreds of times. Well worth the money in my opinion
@@davidray8763 I bought it bare tool and run it with the 3ah battery or a 5ah battery. Sometimes I'll stick a 9ah flexvolt on it too. Just depends...but in my experience it has the same power with any size battery.
Ive come across several bolts on a regular car which it cant loosen. Usually bacause they are seized due to rust. In these cases its better to use a breaker bar (in addisjon to chemicals and heat off course) as the dewalt will just strip the bolt heads.
Prolly getting this for Christmas. Much needed tool for me. Been doing things the hard way for decades. Anyhoo, my inquiring mind wonders why haven’t they come up with an impact that also utilizes a torque reading, too. Like a two in one combo. Just a thought.
If you’ve ever checked out the inside of an impact you’d see it’s a rotating mini hammer action which would be difficult to tune and get precise torques out of hahaha good idea tho lol
It has up to 950Nm but "it also provides up to 1625Nm of breakaway torque". Is it something built-in or do we need to switch some option for this function? That would be huge for impact driver
I bought mine to change the blades on my zero turn and my general home use. This is over kill for my use age but what the hell. Probably be the last impact I’ll ever buy.
Hi Brad, Use this Dewalt 1/2" high impact on a project to install bolts through a ledger board and it worked great. Have to say the DeWalt mid impact is also pretty good. Thanks for the video
I think an update it’s coming. But they updated it once. 2763, came out in 2014. Then the dcf899 came out in 2015. 2767 came out end of 2017. And honestly it’s only marginally more powerful than the 899, if at all. Either way I think the 899 successor will come in two flavors. A power detect and FlexVolt advantage versions.
I’m a new mechanic and I’m looking for something that will last a long time along with give me enough power for almost anything other than an 18 wheeler. Do you think it will take the abuse of being used at least once a week for at least 2-3 years? Like I said I’m a newer mechanic and don’t have much money to replace tools.
it's Definitely a tough tool, but I think Milwaukee might be a better choice for a mechanic. they have a really nice line of tools for you guys and way more options then Dewalt has for that Industry. Im also a 2nd year Diesel Mechanic and if I was to get back into the trade it would be Milwaukee.

Why is the one you show in the video 220$ but when I look up 1/2 inch 20v dewalt impact driver the first one that pops up is the same thing you have but it’s $40 ?? Is it a fake?? I’m new to tools btw
I think what your finding is probably a knock off, there is a link below the video for the tool. even the smallest dewalt impact is around $80 minimum usually $100 plus
What is the torque in foot pounds when screwing in the bolts on minimum settings. Is this just for quickly removing lugs? What about fastening em to specific foot pounds or Newton meters that car companies specify?

it's a beautiful tool,
I own this thing and it's a beast, have not came across anything that it won't loosen or drive
good to hear! thanks for watching
Do you have the 4Ah or 5Ah battery? I can't decide what one to get.

Does it have 3 speed or 1? How much torque in lower mode ? I'm trying to get me 1 with 10ahr batt
Have a much older 1/2” dewalt that has served me well,,retired now to the truck bed for emergency road repairs!
that's what i did with my old version as well, thanks for watching
This tool benefits a lot from the 5 ah power stack currently being sold on Amazon for 100 bucks

After watching your video I purchased one, jus wanted to have an idea how it performs. Thanks
I just got one to work on my Jeep, can’t wait to use it.
Nice!
Best gun ever. Total beast.😊
Just got my DeWalt in the mail today, can't wait to try it on my 4x4 F-150 crew cab
Sweet!

Don’t use chrome on impacts...but good review 👍
i try not to, but have a limited amount of impact sockets

thats what im using it for as well, also bolting large LVL together , thanks for watching
I love my Dewalt dcf899 and this thing eats nuts and bolts for breakfast all day long ... With a 6ah battery its so violent lmao
That’s awesome! I wish I had more to use it on, such a beast
@@hammerandhome I know right , go to a junk yard and have some fun there 😂😂😂 Happy New Year
When did this impact come available? I’d this new like three months ago or years ago. Thx
Very good impact driver. Way better than the one I used to have and thst was the Chicago electric impact driver I had got from harbor freight
not an impact driver. Its an impact wrench.
Really enjoy mine.
Good to hear!
Dewalt need to update that tool Milwaukee refreshed their 1/2 high torque 3 times since that impact been out

@@hammerandhome thanks for the advice, ill look into them and see what they have thats affordable for me and still reliable
Thanks bro
Any time
what is the different with the 18v version? i can only find 18v version in my country.
Whats the difference between the type 3 and type 4 model??
Got one for my roadside biz 👍
NIce! thanks for watching
You got all those dewalt tools and not a single set of impact sockets?
i have some now, :) at the time i only had small ones
Why you not tell exact model number DCF 899HB ?
BECAUSE I WANT TO buy AND WANT TO MAKE sure THAT I AM GETTING THE RIGHT ONE
Great review!
Thank you!
They should make a power detect version or flex advantage of this gun
that would be sweet
Dewalt should utilize actual mechanics to promote their products.
Did the chrome spark plug socket used on the lug nut in the first 8 seconds signal that?

Does it work with 2ah battery
it will work with any 20v battery, you wouldn't get much run time on a 2ah
@@hammerandhome thanks
I use a 5 AH battery I wouldn't go less than 4

For this you use a torque stick attached to the socket to limit the applied torque. There is no torque settings.
I used this on 1 1/2 bolts/nuts daily
nice, thanks for watching
I just got one because because
That’s a good reason 👍
Toooo powerful for the wheels at full torque, I already broke more than one nut at first use. Turn down to #2 setting for wheels.
You should never torque wheels with a impact yeah bafoon
dont want to bash your effort but this review is pointless , this was not a test at all for this tool...
Those trailer nuts were what? 70-85lbs lol
