This week DeWALT finally allowed us to purchase the all new DCF900 (aka DCF900B DCF900P2 ect) and it's not messing around. With specs nearly the same as a Milwaukee FUEL 2767 High Torque, you'd expect it to come out swinging. And it does. Hold onto your egos, it's about to get bumpy.

Who else is now wanting a 60V/Flexvolt 3/4" or 1" DeWalt impact? Could this be the rumored project ludicrous? Whatever it is, whatever form it takes. Looking at the performance of this XR, we're 100% buying one whatever it costs should it see daylight. Our DCF900 shipped this week, many are shipping now: shrsl.com/3o62s
The 899 model also popped and crackled almost as much of this one and they seem to hold up well.

It's nice to not be embarrassed by being a Dewalt guy. I have been using the new DeWalt 3/8" impact and rarely need my 1/2" cordless anymore. Plus the power switch that goes from delicate to full-beans allows it to be used as a 1 stop shop for either big power or "put it on nicely so it doesn't hurt the aluminum engine block" in a single tool is amazing. Been using the DCF899 for about six years and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. It cuts most of my mechanical job times in half. The only bolt I've ever not been able to remove was on a leaf spring which I had to cut off. I've seen many tests from your channel and Project Farm which made me kind of regret not going with a Milwaukee lineup (I think that I have literally every Dewalt 20v MAX tool except the circular saw, even the chainsaw), but I've never regretted the DCF899. Mine looks like it was pulled out of a junk yard at this point from so much use, so it might be time for the DCF900 soon! Thanks!

Its all about extensions and universals with the high torques, so many bolts are both rusted and you don't have a straight shot, my mid torque couldn't move these by a long shot, but a hi torque can get it done, its really heavy and pricey but I'm so glad to have one these days, what a world!

    • @TorqueTestChannel
      @TorqueTestChannel  2 года назад +44

A lot of people miss the boat on this reality. It's not about having a high torque to work on everything, it's about having a high torque that CAN. Extensions, swivels 'n all. A DCF899 wont drive every toyota wheel bearing out of or into the knuckle every time. If that's your top impact wrench, you're unbolting that knuckle to bring it over to the press, + 1/2 hour, and now the car needs an alignment. On a DCF900 it's a 10 second impacting job and done.

'12 Toyota Sienna - front wheel bearing removal... my story ended at the press... except the press couldn't do it either so had to knock out the bearing inners and weld a few beads across the outer race to shrink it first. My theory was the threaded rod on the on-the-vehicle press I borrowed from Oreilly's was absorbing the torsion impacts and was limiting how much tightening torque I could get to press the bearing out.

There's nothing like competition to get the manufacturers moving forward, although I do feel that many tools are brought out when they aren't ready, just so the manufacturer can get ahead. Only time and longer-term testing will show if that is the case? Moreover, most of these products tested here are outside the average Joe's price range and also their requirements.

I wondering if they could focus on better socket technology going forward to improve the resistance of breakage at such high forces. If the game now is to bring out monsters like this then socket technology will need to improve else sockets might as well be completely disposable which is extremely expensive and a waste. I love the power I'm seeing out of this tool though.

I did recently grab a 6 Amp-hour battery, and that did sure wake the tool up. It rips with that thing. Typically quality brands will make Cro-Mo impact sockets soft-ish. Like 41-44Hrc. To do damage to cheaper socket rather than the tool. Snap-On in particular. Oddly, you may need to look at harder import brands and Cr-V to find stuff that doesnt wear so quick at this power level. I have both red and yellow systems. Yellow is about level with red now in terms of mechanic tool performance overall. Where dewalt can be superior is 3/4 and 1 inch drives... if at 60v. Milwaukee 3/4 is the limit of m18... the 1 inch has just too much heat... too much heat and uses battrry to fast. A lot of m18 HO tools are okay for smaller job... but the battery trips out on hi heat at 50 percent power remained... this is where brushless voltage at 60v shines... keeps on going and no issues.

@@andrewk8636 we have to wonder why dewalt has not yet made the biggest and most power hungry hand tools. 2 of wich are large impact or 9 inch grinder. It could be the 15 amph battery timing... we know dewalt is not settling for poor ergonomics of combo voltage on hand tools... and they also seem to want the highest durability and run time of one battery. When I use HO Milwaukee... I am constantly switching out and monitoring battery temperature.. lots of walking or maintenance to and from charger. Some people disregard the benefits of higher brushless voltage vs 18v or 36v.. but it's big reason dewalt made the flex battery and 120v combo on equipment. A true performance cord free application.

      I think dewalt could aim for a 12 amph( 4 at 60v) 9 inch grinder kit or 2 - 9 amph (3 at 60v) kit. And 3/4 impact should be a 9 or 12 also.

@@andrewk8636 well 9 inch already exists at 18v 40v and 36 v 18 x2 set up. Dewalt 60v is by far superior at 6 inch and 7 inch so far. The weight is an issue for any manufacturer... but hardly is their a difference in weight or dimensions from 9 to 12. The weight is also comparable to corded. Also from one manufacturer to another the sizes and weight are similar no matter the voltage when talking 9 inch. Dewalt has better power and run time... but by far better ergonomics. Length can be an issue but the battery placement could be under that handle to save on Length with little sacrifice. When grinding that big we also rest the weight on the work piece if we can.

Just to put this in perspective. I recently bought the outgoing DCF 899 new for 1/2 the old sticker price. It easily undoes and over tightens 4x4 wheel nuts on setting 2 of 3, and doesn’t destroy my impact sockets too…

Are you still happy with the DCF 891 or do you wish you got the dCF 900?

@@steveb611 Im still really happy and dont feel the need for the dcf900. this mid is already on the edge being to heavy and long just get a breaker bar for the 5%-10% of work the dcf891 cant do

yes it would be nice to ge a 1" or 3/4" dewalt impact...cause adapters don't cut it... I got my DCF900 last week and it has some good power...BTW love your channel, its great and true to honest review of tools and stuff....keep up the great work...

Finally had chance to use it, on semitruck wheels, all i can say wow, even with two adapters ½ to ¾ to 1 inch, cause he was right get your warranty ready it destroyed (cracked) two of my 33mm sockets thats why i had to use my one inch one to finnish the job, finally a great gun....

I have the dewalt DCF899 and decided to upgrade to the new one. I almost went to Milwaukee impact but after seeing this video I’m glad I decided on dewalt instead.
