Stevie's voice has always had that sensual sound and scratch to it, which makes her so unique and everyone absolutely mesmerized by her voice, however as she got older her voice did seem to become a little deeper and the her vibrato and the scratchiness sounded more profound! Also, take into account this is another decade (the 80s) where as Fleetwood Mac hit the scene in the (70s) and the style and music was progressing with rock as was Stevie with her her own personal style & musical expressions of herself and personality in her solo music. I wanna add that Stevie is a stellar songwriter, and should be known for that as much as her singing and vocal abilities she wrote or cowrote most of her songs as well as many for Fleetwood Mac. She says she has file cabinets of unheard and unreleased songs and I wish I could hear everyone of them.
Stevie still makes music and albums, & performs, she does tours both with Fleetwood Mac and then she also goes on her solo tours. She and her personal life are just so intriguing to me, imo her and Lindsay Buckingham's love/hate story is the most passionate, frustrating, and bittersweet one there is in Rock music history, and I know there's been many saddened tragedies in the industry, but there's just stands out to me. She was also with Don Henley of the Eagles at one time and y'all should react to Leather and Lace, a duet they did. Also please react to the song SILVER SPRING, a Stevie song she wrote about her feelings toward Lindsey Buckingham and their relationship, but YOU HAVE TO WATCH the video of them performing SILVER SPRINGS LIVE FROM FLEETWOOD MACS 1997 "The Dance" Tour 1997!!!!
    ruclips.net/video/Ud2XKt2N8fs/видео.html

Regarding her voice; by Stevie's own admission she ruined it by too much screaming during the 70s, specifically on the song Rhiannon. If you've ever seen it performed in concert during the seventies it ends with an extended very hard rock Janis Joplin-esque borderline possessed "screamfest" for lack of a better term. It was the highlight of every show, but doing it night after night for months at a stretch took it's toll. That, together with the natural voice drop that occurs with age and, unfortunately, her drug use combined to permanently alter the sound of her voice. Much like Elton John she can no longer hit the high notes of her youth and either doesn't attempt it or has one of her backup singers do it for her, most notably (ironically) on Rhiannon.

Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, and Lindsey Buckingham all did solo projects while they were still Fleetwood Mac as a band. They did this because since there were three lead singer/songwriters in the band, they could each only contribute 3 to 4 songs per album, and they each had a lot more material that they wanted to get out there for the fans. Doing solo albums allowed them to publish many more of their individual songs. They knew they had magic as a band so they didn't break up and this brought more satisfaction to everyone!

One of the primary drives for Stevie to record her first solo album is that she is an amazingly prolific songwriter. With two other songwriters in Fleetwood Mac, she needed another outlet for all those songs. Her first solo album, Belladonna, is an absolute classic and produced multiple hits, including Stop Draggin My Heart Around with Tom Petty, which you’ve already reacted to. Make no mistake, she's a rocker as well as a poet. This song is from 1985 and you're right, her voice is definitely different to her 70s work with Fleetwood Mac. I got to tell her I was blind for a portion of my life before my corneal transplants, when I couldn't see and was in the dark, I had her voice and her music to carry me through that dark time to the light. She held both my hands, listened intently and then gave me a hug. She is THE BEST. FOR SOLO STEVIE: since you guys love Prince too💜 you should listen to stand back, they wrote that together stand back is a companion piece to Little Red Corvette. "Stand back" or "I can't wait" for more rock Stevie. For modern era Stevie which is still her own unique style the videos and songs for "Everyday" and "Sorcerer" are magical. I thought y’all reacted to Edge of Seventeen. It was a solo song. An all time great must listen. Showed her more rock side. Also check out her other solo hits, If Anyone Falls in Love, Stand Back, Leather and Lace and Silver Springs. Btw Silver Strings sounds more like Fleetwood Mac. Oh a deep cut called Rooms on Fire is really good too.

They did react to Edge of 17, but it was so long ago they forgot. And Silver Springs IS a Fleetwood Mac song, not Stevie solo. It was meant to be on Rumors but there wasn't enough room so they put it on the B-side of Go Your Own Way. Twenty years later it finally became an official single when they released the live version from their 1997 reunion concert CD The Dance.

My girl!! I can't wait to see her in Chicago this September. It'll be my 2nd time seeing her. She is just simply perfection! All most all of her songs come from her poetry, which you may enjoy, Amber. Stevie has said in interviews that she hated her voice in those specific years because too much partying and smoking was changing her voice. It wasn't her true authentic voice. This song came out in 1985, and she checked herself into Betty Ford clinic in 1986 and got sober from coke. Then he got terribly addicted from Clonopin for another 8 years. She is my idol! I know so much about her. Her music is the best!

She BLASTS emotion into the lyrics, and one of the things I have always, always, ALWAYS loved is the DANCING in the video.
I don't know why, and I don't understand the appeal, but the dancing has always made the deepest mark on my mind.
It is such a simple step, no complicated moves, no overly expressive steps...just a simple movement.
And I have no idea why it moves me....

Both Stevie & Fleetwood Mac in the 80s had a bit more pop-like finish to the songs like this.
To see the same vibe w/FM you should react to Seven Wonders, Little Lies, and Big Love (1 w/each singer as lead)
You should watch her acceptance speech into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame too, it's pretty good. She's the 1st woman to be in there Twice!

Stevie started Solo work because in Fleetwood Mac, there were 3 songwriter/singers. Lindsey said Christine also contributed songs on each album, and there was only so much room for each one. Her solo work is very diverse with some hard rock, dance-type tunes, slow poetic ballads, and even some songs bordering on country sounds. She has had the same background singers for years, one of them married her brother, Christopher. They now travel with Fleetwood Mac and continue to backup Stevie and the Band. Check out Rooms on 🔥 Fire !!! It is awesome. Her heartbreaking ballads include Beauty and the Beast and Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You ? ???!!!!!!

This was off her third solo album, Rock A Little. There are lots of great sponges off this album.
I recommend Stand Back. She wrote the song after hearing the newly released Prince song, Little Red Corvette. It was her counterpoint. While recording it, she called Prince and asked him to stop by and listen. He was in town and did. I think he added the secondary organ, which a rhythm line that drives the whole song. Very dance, rock and role of the early 80s. She and Prince became good friends and she offered him writing credits, but it was his gift.

Stevie has an extensive solo career and STILL writes songs, releases albums and tours as a solo artist. There are so many fantastic solo songs both from early in her career and late---Songs like Trouble In Shangri-La, Fall from Grace, and Planets of the Universe from the Trouble in Shangri-La album, In Your Dreams, Ghosts are Gone, and Secret Love from the album In Your Dreams, and Mable Normand from her most recent album, 24-Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault. She has always been a prolific song writer and, even at the height of Fleetwood Mac, realized that 2-3 songs every 2-3 years on a Fleetwood Mac album wasn't enough for her. She shares a story about Christine McVie walking by while she was working on a song and saying "The mad song writer is at it again," to which she thought "You know what, she's right. I am mad. No one will ever hear these songs." The root of her solo career was wanting another avenue to release all the songs she was writing that, otherwise, no one would ever hear. She didn't quit Fleetwood Mac but started a solo career on the side. Stevie Nicks, the unlikely god-mother of the side gig.

This was a top 5 hit for Stevie Nicks in 1986, from her November 1985 solo album Rock A Little. Her first three solo albums went platinum within three months of their release: Bella Donna (1981) sold four million copies, The Wild Heart (1983) sold over two million copies, and Rock A Little sold over a million records. Meanwhile she continued to be a member of Fleetwood Mac for 1982’s double platinum Mirage and 1987’s triple platinum Tango in the Night. To date, she’s had nine solo studio albums and seven Fleetwood Mac studio albums.

OK guys, I just found your channel and I absolutely love it! So Stevie from 1969 to 1977 sound a certain way. After 1983 she had some issues with her vocal cords. After the Maroge album she came out with the wild heart on her’s solo Career. Her voice was noticeably different and 1986 on her rock a little album. This was after many years of smoking cigarettes, straining her voice from singing Rhiannon and cocaine. Her voice did become deeper and richer, but she was also running her voice. DM me for more info. I miss TV expert.

That’s not what I meant to say, but you get the gist of it. Basically, her voice changed because of the drugs cigarettes and straining her vocal cords because of her life performances from Fleetwood Mac. I’m so glad you guys are doing this because Fleetwood Mac is possibly the number one rock ‘n’ roll group of all time. she is the first female singer to dominate the charts and has such a distinctive voice that still resonates to this day.
