Wow, this kit is too expensive... The past week I installed in my m273 a Sprintfilter P-08 and I think they are the best filters and is not necessary to change the intake in our cars, Mercedes did a good job, especially for gain 5-15hp. For this money is more suitable to spend it on the turbos, ECU, TCU tune or in a suspension, I don't know. I appreciate your video's explanation and honesty.
Have the blackboost intakes and like them quite a bit.i feel like top end definitely has some gains. Low end (1-3rd gear) you likely won’t notice much because of the torque limits in the tcu.
Thanks for the review giving us Mercedes-Benz. CLS platform guys a better understanding of the black boost more in depth These intakes are not cheap. I wouldn’t worry too much about the license plate, but at least they could have gave you badging on the intakes themselves.
It’s March 2024 and blackboost has not sent me anything yet. I’ve emailed them numerous times, so I decided to give up. I don’t think I will ever receive the badges on both boxes. Thanks, I appreciate your feedback!
@@Fwerks.1592 So there is a solenoid in the Oil Pump that restricts flow/pressure to essentially only allow full oiling in the engine to occur 1) on start-up and 2) over 3500RPM. Given the ECU/TCU is designed to keep RPM low and shift points "granny" shifting you almost never get full oiling. Now, what does the solenoid prevent form getting oiled in almost all fcaets of typical driving? The oil squirters under the pistons, the VVT train, etc. So you may have experienced the lurch/surging of the car when accelerating form either a low speed or from a stop when you're in S/S+/M drive modes.. unplugging the solenoid eliminates that. It also means you're getting full oiling across the RPM range so your cylinders are actually getting lubricated, in theory helping the cylinder scoring issue prevalent on this engine. What it verifiably helps is keeping the engine cooler. I'm sure you've felt the furnace like heat coming from the engine bay after parking your car? That temperature is insanely reduced from the mod because you're ACTUALLY using the oil system as intended, to lubricate the engine, and that oil then circulated through the oil coolant system, drawing that immense heatliad out of the previously unoiled engine block. It also improves throttle response, increases the free revving nature, and the RPMs are just smoother overall across the entire RPM range. @@GoldenEagleXTND wow!!!! You’ve answered a question I was asking for months now!!! Yes that jerk initially on 1st gear! I spoke to many techs, talked to different CLS63 owners and they all reported the same symptoms! Tech all say that’s normal and “ we need to let the car come up to temp”! I would always throw it on manual mode to reduce the “jerky “ feeling. Also yes the engine bay gets incredible hot!!!! I’m definitely joining the forum group!! If u want to see a difference in the sound work on the exhaust set up, i have these intakes and their downpipes im happy with both. Spending $1400 was worth it for me given the fact it looks hella sick second its compatible with a tune. If ur car is stock and u just puting it on for a sound money not spent on the right areas
I agree! I have a 2012 153k miles for sale if you know anyone interested one. Had for 4 yrs and just ready for a upgrade. Definitely a fun car to drive.
@@Fwerks.1592 major, only thing was the timing chain tensioner check valves started to fail. Had them replaced and all good. Normal wear items here and there. To bash a reputable company because they didn’t send you a license plate frame is crazy. Throwing their merch they gave you for free was disrespectful. Especially when you’re new to the m157 platform.
They didn’t send me this product free. I’m paying for this product. Just like every paying customer I’d like for the product to be in order. I’m entitled to my own opinion. If you want the merch I can send it over to you at no cost.
@@Fwerks.1592 you bought a product and because it didn’t come on time, you went into this biased . . @@GasBrakeSim did I really say the product sucks? I said the price point is not worth it! Yes of course, the wait time was ridiculous, there were no plaques included and I still don’t have them after numerous emails to Blackboost USA. Why are you so upset though? I don’t know if you have an intake set, maybe it went well for you. But I am not a fan of this product specially their customer service! I do appreciate your thoughts though.
It’s crazy! I emailed the guy again about the plaques that I’m still missing. He responded I’ll send you a tracking number shortly, a month later I’m still waiting.
I agree with you %100! Now if the intakes were under $800 I would consider. There are actually way better intakes and different brands for Audi S- Lineup.
It works if your tuned, i gained about 33whp on peak power and upto 70whp in other parts of the graph on the dyno....stock tune or maybe just a basic tune you might not see any gains but i saw some big gains on my car being tuned on e40. 60 to 130 time improved as well from a 7.3 to about 6.8s
It seals against the hood and still uses the cold air feeds. I can guarantee the intake temps are the same as stock. Especially because of the water to air intercooler.
