Yes i saw it come in the other day before i saw the video and I did say to Nellie (The Border Collie) looks like Jake has found another bargain. This one looks like it could be a "WEAPON"@@dieseldownunder.
What a weapon! Will be really useful at the yard Jake. Brilliant bit of kit. Reminds me of the old iron fairies we used to have over here. Couldn’t believe how easy she fired up. Would have thought that water would have given you more trouble than that. I had exactly the same issue once with a Perkins TX engine, got all the water out but still wouldn’t go, the starter was smoking when it finally went🤣🔥 brilliant video Jake, just keep getting better and better🤙🏻
It will be we have a forklift that will lift 7t but this will take it to the next level. I couldn’t believe how it fired up either, I’ve had engines with water in them in the past and I’ve never got them to run that easily. Thanks mate I appreciate all your support I’m glad your enjoying it!
Gday Jake, that’s definitely worth doing some work to and bloody handy to have around the yard, interesting how the oil was still up in the top of the engine, top job mate, cheers
Thanks Matty! I think so too, the price was right so I’ll definitely get it run key ready for around the yard, yes it was really weird it’s had somthing other than engine oil in it for sure
Thanks mate I got the heads up from another guy about the cable so that was a super simple fix! I’m a fan of the little 53 it seems like a great engine!
Hey mate thanks for watching and commenting as always mate! Yes the float is a life saver it’s not mine but I have access to it when needed so it makes moving everything very easy!
Hi Jake that’ll be a handy machine to have with all the lifting you could need to do. Doesn’t look like it really needs a lot to get straight for use. The leaking ram looks like the worst part. The seals and hoses will just be a matter of finding and making replacements. Bet the neighbors will love that quiet machine. Be an interesting fix up.
Hey mate it will be a great machine and I lifted a few things to get it out I’ll check over the rope and do a few safety check and I need it for a few things coming up. A few solid days will get it up to scratch I reckon! Cheers
Great find young man with a little work your going to have quit a bit a fun running that crane. And like you said do not trust that hoist rope! Worked at a tower crane company in the states for over 32 years and we had a 20T AT Grove as a mobile yard crane it was fun to operate but when we sold it the thing didn’t have enough power to drive onto a low boy so we put the low boy at the bottom of a hill and I got a run at it the first time it still wouldn’t make it up the ramps so I got back a little farther and told everyone to get out of the way and I took off it made it up the ramps onto the trailer but lucky the brakes were the only thing on the crane that were still good but the muffler did fall off when I hit the ramps. We didn’t have camera phones then and we had a good laugh about it after it was loaded luckily no one was hurt. Be careful they will turn over very easily but good luck with your new crane. Love how your saving old equipment.
Thanks mate I like hearing from you blokes with experience, that would have made a great video to see you have to load it like that😂 it’s a good story to have from when times were abit simpler! I get the feeling they will turn over easily so I’m pretty carful lifting with it I’m sure I’ll learn it’s limits but I’ll take it easy!
Haha yes a little overwhelming at the moment I’m trying to clean up and get organised at the minute and building a couple of small shed to park the trucks undercover out of the weather Cheers
Our petrol compressor run out of petrol real professionals lol think we've all had moments like this , like packing the big Milwaukee rattle gun with a almost flat battery or a to small battery
Hey Jake, another great video,GM’S just seem to follow you around ,plenty of work to get it in working condition but will be a handy machine to help you with your projects 😏💪
Hi Jake and dad , wow you can't keep a good GM down, great motor these 4 cylinder gm, that thing couldn't wait to start , with water in it and all away she goes
Jake push bead back clean of rust and dirt replace o ring ,, you will need a air gun or 2 to assist inflation, borrow from tyre shop leave ratchet strap around tyre as you have it , I used to be a tyre fitter and old squished tyres are cunts most of the time but are do able
I can just hear the neighbors now" oh crap Ethel that kid's done brought in another noisy piece of equipment"😂😂
😂 one of my neighbours will be watching he will be over to check it out I have no doubt about that, he keeps a close eye on what I drag home

I learned something with this video about Detroit's not liking 15-40 engine oil😮
Yep in these old gms always straight 40 or 50 weight low ash I believe!
Good buying
Here take my money now here's to another good video
Thanks!
Thanks Harold your keeping the show on the road with these contributions it means a lot I really appreciate it👌🏻

Haha yes a little overwhelming at the moment I’m trying to clean up and get organised at the minute and building a couple of small shed to park the trucks undercover out of the weather
Cheers
Another great video Jake
Cheers thanks mate
The way the oils coming out of that unit I think hoses and seals will be the cheaper option, great asset for the yard that’s for sure
I think it will take alot of hoses but once I spend some time on it, she will be a great crane!

I know I’ve gone 22 years of my life without one and in the last year I’ve accumulated around 7 I reckon! 😂
Hi Jake and dad , wow you can't keep a good GM down, great motor these 4 cylinder gm, that thing couldn't wait to start , with water in it and all away she goes
Hey mate yes the old gm just wanted to come back to life, I’m glad it has another chance!
"will it start ?", of course, its a detroit :):):):)
Love it.
👍👍
Maybe it's got a bunch of blow by
I ran it up to operating temp and it was really good so I’m gonna give it an oil change and go from there
yep she's a beaut and only 178hrs on the clock... whistle*
Haha that’s it she’s basically brand new!😂
