  • In 1989, two co-workers/friends at the time, Cindy and Chase, and I were selected to be on the TV game show, "Couch Potatoes." It was a TV trivia game and, fortunately, we were all fairly good at that. Our team name was Family Affair. The show was hosted by Marc Summers, who was also hosting "Double Dare" at the time, commuting from Hollywood to Orlando and back each week and HATING it because he was afraid to fly. Each show had a celebrity guest, and on this episode it was Roger E. Mosley from the TV series, "Magnum, P.I." Marc's "neighbor" on Couch Potatoes was played by talented comedian, impressionist and voice actor Joe Alaskey. Sadly, he passed away in 2016 at the age of 63. Rest in peace, Joe.

    A New Kind Of Family. That show sounds like a winner lol.

      Yeah, I had never even heard about it at that point, and apparently that series only had a 10 episode run.

      @@reedberry You can recognize Lauri Hendler (GIMME A BREAK) and Rob Lowe in the pic but never get the show title.

    Imagine scrolling through YT and stumble upon yourself! I remember every thing! We studied so hard at the office we all worked at. This is crazy! Clearly so was I.

    Great to see this, I had this episode from reruns but was accidentally taped over. Awesome to see how the streak started.

      I think our streak would have lasted a little longer if Marc hadn't flubbed in episode three. That mistake required him to start asking questions of the other team and that allowed them to get some momentum going. But we had fun and made some decent money, in addition to each of us receiving a La-Z-Boy recliner.

    I'm rather intrigued by the fact that this was a game show created by the same company that gave us the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in 1993...

    The special weeks Joe Alaskey mentions aired between May 1-19, 1989, and were coming up "in less than two weeks". Ergo, this episode is from the week of 4/17-4/21/1989

    TOUGH Channel Roulette.

    • @reedberry
      @reedberry  2 года назад +4

      True. The second episode was much easier, plus our teammate Cindy followed my advice. I told her if she didn't know the answer, just pass and Chase or I would pick those up, which we did. Nothing against Cindy, but I think she was only 19 at the time so her knowledge of older shows was somewhat limited. But her energy level made the show!
