    Beautiful and excellently taught, pls do more videos.
    My question is, do you think a semi bulky weight, number 5 yarn would work or is it better to use a number 4 weight yarn?i knit and can adjust needle size and stitches required, but not sure if bulky would be good to use.
    I have looked for quite a while for this pattern and your video was the best i have viewed.i can't wait to try it and i have ordered yarns to do so.
    Thank you.

      Thanks for your comment. I think it would look lovely in a bulky weight yarn. Just as you said go up to maybe a 9 or 10 size needle and you would obviously do a lot less stitches across to get your width. Maybe try a small swatch to see how it works up. I’m sure it will be beautiful.

      Hi Kathy. Thank you!! I appreciate your comment. Sorry for the late reply...I was out of town and didn't have access to my project notes. For this blanket I used an acrylic yarn called "Deborah Norville Everyday Baby". To be honest I don't recall the exact colors that were used on this blanket. I purchased this yarn at JoAnns. Hope you give it a try!!

    What am I doing wrong. I’m working 13 stitches to start my chevron it says k1, ssk,k9, yo. Do that and I have 1 extra stitch. HELP

    • @jacqknits
      @jacqknits  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for reaching out. I'm not sure where you are seeing those instructions of "k1, ssk, k9, yo" as there are no yarn overs in this pattern.
      The first set of stitches for the chevron pattern is as follows (and the first 3 knit stitches are the border stitches you do at the beginning and end of each round). So in my case the first set of stitches including the 3 knit border stitches is 15.
      K3, SSK, K9, KFB
      When you knit that sequence you start and end with 15 stitches. Then you will continue with the repeat of the pattern which is:
      KFB, K9, Sl1 as if to knit, K2tog, psso, K9, KFB
      Then end with 15 stitches again which is:
      KFB, K9, K2tog, K3
      I hope that helps clarify. There are many varieties of chevron patterns, so you may be referring to a slightly different pattern that incorporates yarn overs in the pattern.

    What is S11 in the chevron blanket

    • @jacqknits
      @jacqknits  7 месяцев назад

      That is actually SL1 which is abbreviation for "Slip One". It is apart of the double decrease stitch in the pattern which starts with a sl1 (slip one), then a K2tog (knit two together). Then you finish it by passing the slip stitch from your right needle over the K2tog stitch you just did ("psso") That decreases your stitch count by two. I hope that makes sense. I show that stitch sequence in the video which may help that become more clear.

    Hello knitting friends. I edited this video today to remove the instructions about how many stitches to cast on for the full baby blanket and the number of stitches in each repeat section of this stitch as I realized I stated this incorrectly in the video. The correct cast on and repeat stitch count is included in the video description (145 cast on stitches and 23 stitches in each repeat section of this Chevron stitch).

    When casting on what are the multiple of stitches

    • @jacqknits
      @jacqknits  11 месяцев назад

      You will want to cast on a multiple of 23 stitches plus 30. The 30 will be 15 stitches at the beginning and end of the row that will be a half chevron pattern plus a couple border stitches. Hope that helps. Happy knitting.

    How many would i cast on for full size please? Have been trying to figure it out but cant...can anyone help please

    • @jacqknits
      @jacqknits  9 месяцев назад

      Hello. Great question. Here's how you can determine number of stitches needed:
      You will need to cast on a multiple of 23 stitches plus 30. The 23 stitches are the number of stitches to complete one full "V" pattern or Chevron. The plus 30 are the 15 stitches on both ends that comprises a half Chevron plus 3 border stitches.
      The width of a full Chevron (23 stitches) for my gauge is 4.75". I have a total of four full Chevron's plus my half Chevron's on both ends (each end being 3"wide). So my total width is 25 inches (4.75x4 plus 3, plus 3).
      If you want to make it wider for a full blanket, simply add another 23 stitches for every full Chevron you want to add, knowing that one full Chevron equals 4.75 inches.
      For example:
      You could do a blanket with 9 full Chevron's: 9x23 = 207 stitches
      Plus the 30 you need for the ends: = 237 stitches
      That would equate to 48.75" wide if your gauge is similar to mine.
      I hope that helps. Happy knitting!

    • @jacqknits
      @jacqknits  Год назад

      I'm sorry you are having difficulties. It's a bit confusing because there are so many increases and decreases. Let's examine first the repeat section for a full chevron which consists of 23 stitches. Let's compare the stitch count on your needle before and after you knit those 23 stitches:
      Stitch count before after
      KFB 1 2 increase stitch, 1 stitch becomes 2
      K9 9 9 knit 9 stitches
      sl1, K2tog, psso 3 1 double decrease, 3 stitches becomes 1
      K9 9 9 knit 9 stitches
      KFB 1 2 increase stitch, 1 stitch becomes 2
      The sum of the stitches both before and after you knit that section is 23.
      You can do the same analysis for the 15 stitches at the start and end of each row, counting the stitch count before and after you knit them which produces 15 stitches.
      I hope that isn't too confusing and you can follow along. Just be sure that you are doing the correct increase and decrease stitches each time.
      Good luck and happy knitting.

    Can you make a adult blanket

    • @jacqknits
      @jacqknits  Год назад +1

      Hi Amanda. Great question. Yes, this pattern can be adjusted to make a larger adult blanket. For a wider width, simply add an additional 23 stitches for your cast on for each additional "chevron V" you want to add to your width. You will then just repeat that repeat section that many more times on each row. Then to add to the length, just continue to knit the pattern for as long as you desire the length to be. Hope that helps. Happy knitting!
