Factory 2-Strokes were the bomb back then. I remember the smell of the VP, and the Brapppp sound unlike any non-Factory bike as they hit it to clear a triple. It was amazing to see in person, and hear. I hated going to 4-Strokes, bvut at the time I bought a Yamaha 426, which was the start of the 450's. I never liked riding it as much as a 2 Stroke, but I bought it because they were outlawing the 2 Strokes and I wanted to be ahead of the curve.

Back in the mid 70s to mid 80s they would usually have two 40 rider gates full in the novice classes, and a full gate of each amateur and expert. I was a big fan of his, and me and my buddies went to 2 Vegas US Open Sx's, and at the Studio 54 After Party, I went to the bar to get a beer, and MC was arm locked with Troy Lee, well when MC walked up, he bumped into me by accident, and he insisted in buying me a beer, but it was Red Bull Sponsored, so he got me a Red bull and Marandin Vodka instead. That became my fav drink. I started chatting with him, and he invited me up to the 2nd floor, where only the riders and their family/friends could go. I spent that night hanging out with legends, and I was in awe of MC's kindness and how funny he was, Troy lee too. I'll never forget that night, and my respect for him grew quite a bit that night, even though he was my #1 prior. I used to spend hours slow-mo'ing the vids of his style, and how he did so many things to save and gain time. Those were fun days, and it was a blast to be in that mix for a night. I got to know Davey Combs and Malcom McCassy a bit at the Atlanta SX's. We used to drive up from Florida each year for 7 straight years. Fun times and once we went there a few times, we got to know Shae Bentlys brother, Brandon. He was awesome and used to take us out in his Hummer, and he knew basically everybody in Atlanta. He was a great host. So much fun. One time as we were driving back to our Hotel, after we said goodnight to Brandon, I drove my truck and felt bad for a homeless guy, so he hopped in the bed of the truck and we drove him into Buckhead, but we also stopped and got some food. It was freezing outside, and as we got near the hotel about an hour later, I saw that guy in my mirror! I completely forgot!!! We were lauging so hard that night. I dropped him where he wanted to go after that! (There may have been alcoghol involved) Also, we learned the 2nd last time that those frozen shakes you can buy all over Atlanta are the BEST thing in the World for hangovers. Anyway, just sharing some of my favorite times being aroiund that crowd. Solid people, all of them.

Wow that is amazing I grew up watching Jeremy McGrath dominate the world of dirt bikes. I believe he used to live in canyon lake and had his own track out here in Good Old lake Elsinore California. So funny was just commenting about Jeremy McGrath the other day somebody said James Stewart was the best dirt bike rider ever I beg to differ I made a comment and said Jeremy McGrath is the best dirt bike rider ever good to see you're still riding 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Everyone has their own favorite riders...but RC is the best dirtbike rider in the sports history by a wide margin...love MC and Stew but RC smoked both of them regularly....either way it was it was GREAT racing and definitely the golden era of moto/supercross. Glad to have seen it in real time

      @@joebuss8835 are You kidding?
RC was beating McGrath in 2001.
      RC was 22 years old...
McGrath was 30 years old and Not in his Prime anymore, when Carmichael was able to Beat him finally.
Carmichael got his ass kicked in 99 and 2000.
      McGrath in 94-96 was unbeatable.
      Best rider ever.
