    Also since you can save as many setups as you like on your SD card, you can unmount your SD card and stick it into your pc and then copy the files off of the SD card onto the pc, and you can email your setup to a friend for him to try on his 7300 or post them on a forum if the forum allows files to be posted. It can also include saving your SSB and CW and RTTY memory contents too. But it is very nice to be able to help a newcomer by sending him your complete rig setup and he can load it in a few seconds, and you can then explain a feature or function while operating on a rig setup just like yours. 73 James K0UA

    nice job. it does not hurt to play with settings for the scope/waterfall .with changing conditions I change my settings a lot.and the part i like best is reset to factory settings. usually what i do when done or first thing for the day or night. then change . A lot of this can be sent to PC and record them. and I can even do settings from my laptop. I saved my memories to PC . so much can be done. learning repeater settings on 10 and 6 meters. yes 7300 can do and even can scan PL tones . I heard some complaint's on fan noise on the 7300. what i hear is fine for me. my fan hardly comes on or if at all. I keep my power way down and let the amp do the work. my amp tubes 572/B last many years . I dip my grid and keep drive way down. and pre tune into dummy load . 7300 runs great on a LiFePO4 battery . love it. 73,s

Now at 10:00AM I get a call from DXE saying ICOM won't let them honor the sale! I said then let ICOM know that the 7300 was my second ICOM HF Base purchase from you (and them), previously having purchased a new 7200. They said sorry, but they can't fulfill the transaction!!! Thanks for this very useful video. I'm trying to decide whether to buy the IC-7300 or to spend much more money for the IC-7610. Maybe a comparison between the two?
    How about showing us how to hook up an SDR such as the RSP1a to the IC-7300? Concerned about being able to ground the SDR input so that transmitting on the 7300 doesn't kill the SDR. Also a recommendation on the SDR software to use, SDRPlay?

    Instead of changing the Ref, twist the RF gain until your noise level is ~ S1, this cleans up the waterfall and reduces some of the noise, while the signal is still just as good. It looks lower but sounds just fine.

    • @mrglabs4778
      @mrglabs4778 Год назад

      Unfortunately the inherent noise in the 7300 makes the rf gain almost useless.
      Try this… turn the rf gain fully ccw and note how much noise is present. Nothing coming in should equal nothing out yet the 7300 generates a lot of noise.
      The IC7300 is the noisiest rx I’ve ever used.

    Hey Eric. I noticed you had the Yaesu FT-991a but now you are running the Icom 7300. I’m a fairly new Ham and bought the Yaesu FT-991a. However, everything I see about the Icom 7300 tells me I should have gotten the 7300 instead; I don’t use VHF/UHF that often. Based on your experience, would you recommend the Icom 7300 over the Yaesu FT-991a for HF? Is the receiver on the Icom 7300 more sensitive than the Yaesu FT-991a? I know the Icom 7300 is SDR and the waterfall is way better than the Yaesu FT-991a. 73!

    • @alexeizhiltsov6797
      @alexeizhiltsov6797 5 лет назад

      Michael, I am not so sure you made a mistake. Ic-7300 is a controversial radio, has some problems as compared to Yaesu produxtion, particularly ft-891. Although in Russian, have a look at these comparisons, you will get the message even without the language: ruclips.net/video/gv8oUkIja1o/видео.html
      ruclips.net/video/LG96R6o-NoU/видео.html
      Ic-7300 gets into trouble by a nearby strong signal, ft-891 does not. And ft-891 appears to be more sensitive. I myself love the controls and design of ic-7300, and I am an Icom man. But I am hesitant now. Should I go for it or for ft-891 instead... 73 de R2ARM!
