- In this tutorial I walk you through the step-by-step process of configuring your Icom IC-7300 for seamless operation with WSJT-X and popular digital modes like FT8. These are my personal radio settings that I use for use with FT8, WSPR and other modes that have proven to help me make thousands of contacts in WSJT-X, ensuring you get the most out of your IC7300.

Additional notes:
The baudrate you use in WSJT-X is dependant on if CI-V USB Port is set to Unlink from [Remote] or Link to [Remote].
Link to [Remote] = Use the CI-V Baud Rate on Page 1 of the CI-V menu
Unlink from [Remote = Use the CI-V USB Baud Rate on Page 2 of the CI-V Menu

Sorry, I have a question on the initial settings, I have already set up my 7300 for use with the RS-BA1 Remote Utility and for that I have had to set the CI-V USB Port to Unlink from [REMOTE], so the question is can I leave it like this or should I change it?
Yes you can leave it like that, just set your baud rate in WSJT-X to whatever it is below that setting - probably 115300bps?
And that's how you do that!
Doesn’t the IC-7300 have a FT8 Preset on page 2 of the menu?
Can those same settings be used for the IC-705?
Very similar, except just select the IC-705 from the drop down radios list

I don’t own a FT-450D unfortunately. Great little radio though!
Finally got my IC-7000 working on FT8/WSPR. Unlike the 7300 I can’t turn off the microphone while transmitting. Just have to be quiet.
As an aside, do you know of an ACARS decoder I could use with audio input rather than SDR. They all seem to have lost that feature in recent updates.

HELP ANYONE .....my screen of wsjt-x is exactly like yours... except under "WSJT-X VERSION 2.61 K1JT ETAL" IT DOES NOT read "file config view mode decode save tools help" so i cant click on file to adjust the settings???? NS9T

Drivers for Linux ?
Setting WSJT-X to Data/Pkt instead of SSB hides other people's signals in the software's watefall. Has anyone noticed it or is it just on my end? If it's true why does that happen?
Check your filter widths when you switch to the data mode. If it's too narrow it will hide some of the signals

Great video Hayden. The only addition I would make is on windows go into advanced and make sure enhanced audio is turned off. This allows a cleaner signal from the WSJT-X program to the radio. I did a video where in windows 11 you think you have turned it off but the windows 10 interface still shows it turned on. ruclips.net/video/lztVFer5HqM/видео.html

Why did you omit the cabling required to set all this up? Where it goes, which cable goes where, etc. Yes... beginners need this! Also the website to download the software isn't available here in the states. Unfortunately this video seems pointless since you skip so much info.

You lost me when you went into audio and suddenly an audio menu appears on your screen and the viewer has no idea where it came from. Most users are faced with fixing the computer interface or installing one every so often, like 6-12 months, and there is no way that we are facile in jumping in and out of driver set-ups, device manager, and wondering where the audio menu is. I also noted that a number of my com port drivers were set at 9600 baud. Should they match the settings you had us put into the radio? Back to experimentation. 73, AB0CD..
