This record "Thunder In The East" was a fantastic album. The Guitarist Akira Takasaki is in my opinion at the same level as Yngwie Malmsteen and I'm from Sweden.
They have changed style some times i guess thats why they didn't became bigger. They have over 20 albums and 4 before "Thunder In The East".

MZA didn't mean anything it just sounded good to them from some interview i read. I always just thought it was hey hey hey anyway, lol. This came out in like late 1984 or 85, i had the cassette as well. My brother in law was in the Navy and i was showing him Motley Crue and he was like, you ever hear of Loudness? Gave me the cassette, blew me away. Fan ever since. Saw them live finally 30 years later and got Akira to sign one of my guitars. I brought a 1988 special edition Akira model to the show. Actually the guy who he runs his guitar business is their tour manager and we talked about those guitars all night. The one i had was very rare and seemed they were surprised to see one in America.

LOUDNESS is a well known Japanese Rock band in South East Asia in the 80"s. I was a youth in that era. Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Scorpions etc. Try hearing LOUDNESS "Heavy Chains".

They have released their 27th album "Rise to Glory" last year. I think only 5 of them were released in America (between 1985 and 1991) though.
It was really interesting to hear about the memories you had on them!
How amazing would that have been if you still had an old recording from back in the days :)

Loudness has been playing since 1981, took a few years off in the 90's, and are still touring and putting out records. The just played in the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan a couple of months ago, and a few of their songs were live streamed wold wide. (Band-Maid played that show too, and also had a few songs live streamed).
Here's one of the songs they did there...

MZA means「MZA ARIAKE」it's name of night club of tokyo.
Loudness had a management contract with them in that time.
But that company was bankruptcy soon.
After then "MZA" goes to be no mean.

Japanese music market is the world's second largest after the United States, and various categories of music were popular around the 80s. The topical city pop was also around this time, and that YMO was also in the first half of the 80s. Now, thanks to RUclips, it is becoming widely known around the world.

Nice reaction to LOUDNESS, that song is such a classic hard rock tune and the band are very known overseas thanks to it. In my country (Chile), there's a radio station that play it some times. I always watch your videos, they are really fun. Let me make a suggestion: If you have already done BAND-MAID reactions and now this one with LOUDNESS, I recommend you to check another kick ass japanese band that was very known in the late 90's and early 00's, that I think it needs to be spotlighted again because, due their long inactivity and lack of new material, they have fade into obscurity, I refer to SIAM SHADE. They play a mixture of Hard Rock with some flavors of Heavy Metal, some times a little thrashy, other a little bit of punk with some pop elements. If you liked BAND-MAID I think you will like them as well. Check out some songs:

Nemophila just released a cover version of "Crazy Nights" a couple days ago. They have been touring with Loudness in Japan (first tour as a 4-piece since guitarist Saki left) and the play "Crazy Nights" together as an encore. Saki leaving sucks, but the ladies have made some adjustments to current songs and will continue on as a 4 piece. Hazuki might look like a librarian, but she's a technical wizard and plays Steve Vai level instrumentals on videos demonstrating her signature Ibanez guitars and products. She shreds hard on the cover. Here's the link if you're interested. ruclips.net/video/rQ0SRKmcLAY/видео.htmlsi=SG0FsVujFv2JXoMj

Best version of this is the Once and for All live version with Taiji Sawada from X Japan on bass. They were big enough in Japan that X covered In The Mirror live in their club days. and Taiji ended up joining them for a while when he left X.
Edit: also the MZA was just a placeholder because they weren't sure what to put there, but it worked so they left it in.
Niihara: "Actually it does not have any meaning. When we were doing pre-production for the Thunder in the East album, I did not have any lyrics for Crazy Night then, so I sung total nonsense as a guide vocal for the demo recording. I sung “M.Z.A.” by accident and the producer Max Norman liked the line, even though that did not have any meaning. We were trying to create some cool line but we could not beat “MZA.” Max ended up deciding to use ”M.Z.A.” for the real take.”

Thunder in the East is such an amazing album, from start to finish. The album was their first in the US and came out in 85. Akira Takasaki is a guitar god and made Mick Mars look like child's play.
They toured with Motley Crue on the Theater of Pain tour in August/September 85, after which they were replaced by Y&T. The consensus is that Motley Crue got tired of getting smoked by Loudness every night.
Their second US album Lightning Strikes is pretty good too.

I consider him a pioneer and advanced, something strange being Japanese. If we analyze Loudness's first albums we can observe risky, progressive and advanced riffs and compositions for the time, even with some arrangements with touches of jazz, a modern style that makes us see other albums of the time (period between 1981 and 1984) and even in Lazy, the pre Loudness band, they seem archaic and primitive. If he had been an American, he would be in the top five of the best guitarists in history.
