Knew X Japan, some how, before finding today's bands. I feel to really "get" todays Japanese Rock/Metal bands, you need to listen to the bands of the 80's and 90's
I saw Loudness twice, in San Francisco in 2985 (with Keel), and San Diego in 2011. My friends and I met them after the shoe in SD. not only did they blow the roof off the venue both times, but they are GREAT guys with no egp. Minoru even remembered the 85 show.
Aha! Minoru Nihara is the singer that Yoyoka was playing with together with SATSUMA3042. I know I had heard the band name Loudness before. Cool. He has a very special voice. Sounds a bit like he has problems singing. Like it is hard for him. Like he has to struggle. I have mixed feelings regarding that voice. The band kills it though. Very good song, very good guitar playing. But Saki made a good version of that also! I see in the comments that Minoru's voice was better when he was younger. Probably should listen to an older recording.
OK - now I have heard a studio version from earlier days. And his voice then was different. Much more Japanese. And not so strained. But, with a kind of compression like he was struggling singing even then. But, then it only sounded like a singing style. I can imagine that that style of singing might be difficult when you get older.
They opened for GnR when GnR had a concert in Japan in 2022. Nemophila did a cover of this song. Maki Oyama also did an acoustic cover of this song, which is awesome as well.
Loudness is together to this day. The thing about this band is that no two albums sound exactly the same. They started with s heavily Deep Purple/Rainbow vibe, but they progressed through 80s metal like L jest and Dokken, tried a bit of rap, leaned into Pantera, and now they combine a lot.
I saw a streamed concert by them last year when they did a 2-man show with Nemophila during their Zepp tour. Yes, they are getting there in age nowadays and the vocalist couldn't hit every high note very cleanly any more, but it was still very good and I enjoyed it a lot. I only knew them by name (and Nemophila's cover), but that was a good introduction. Nemophila typically covers the bands they tour with and they are doing a Zepp 2-man show with Demon Kakka (the frontman of Seikima II) and Hanabie among others this year, I can not wait for both covers (I hope they are going to keep doing those).

The first time I saw a live performance was at the Sapporo Welfare Pension Hall ♫ I was in the 8th row from the front of Akira Takasaki ✨!! After ANTHEM ended, the opening was Crazy Doctor♫ I can feel the vibration of Munetaka Higuchi's bass drum!! What about Akira Takasaki? My guitar is!! I scream with my eyes!!🎸⚡♫ It was a different world♫
I got the loudness cassette sold in America back in the 80s. Then when I rediscovered them that they were still around in Japan I got a few of their imports also. Just a really good band. I have a couple Slash's snakepit CDs to which I really like. You should react to any of Slash's snakepit stuff it's good
Akira has his own guitar brand "Killer". And that's the brand Saki (Nemophila) use nearly exclusively 👍. They even did a joint concert last year.
I saw Loudness in the US when they opened for AC/DC on The Who Made Who tour - glad to see that they never went away.
i watched them headline in the 80s after Thunder in the East was released .... and fast forward, in early 2000s ..... they were awesome
It's famous story that Akira Takasaki rejected the offer to join Metallica In 1982.

I had tickets to see them here in Seattle, they were supposed to be here in May, but last week they canceled the entire tour😢
