"M-Z-A!" means nothing, and it was intended to be replaced with another line in post-production. When Niihara couldn't come up with anything to replace it, the "M-Z-A!" chant survived.
They are the most influential Japanese metal band ever. X Japan used to cover "In The Mirror" before they were signed. Taiji Sawada (RIP), also joined Loudness after leaving X Japan for a few years.
Their Album " Thunder In the East" is an amazing straight-up classic metal album from the '80s. Since then, original bassist and Drummer have passed away (RIP)
Original bass player Hiroyuki Tanaka were only a member in 1981. The same year he was replaced by Masayoshi Yamashita who has played on most albums and are still a member. It's also him in the video
GREAT choice! Killer band. The entire 'Thunder In The East' and 'Lightning Strikes' albums are metal masterpieces, with ungodly tone, riffing, and lead guitar! Akira Takasaki is considered by many to be in the upper echelon of the best metal guitarists that walked the planet!
Loudness have 27 albums in their discography. Quite insane. You should check out their 1992 album just called Loudness. It has Akira Takasaki on guitar, Munetaka Higuchi in drums RIP, Masaki Yamada on vocals ex-EZO and Taiji Sawada on bass ex X-Japan RIP. Very heavy album. Firestorm, Slaughter House, Waking the Dead, Black Widow and Everyone Lies. There are some great live recordings from that album. There are of course also a video of In the Mirror with american vocalist Mike Vescera
I always liked this band. They were a very good metal band with a great guitar player. As far as what the chant of MZA means? It doesn't mean anything. For years people would ask the band: “What do the letters M-Z-A mean?” And in an interview with the lead vocalist Minoru Niihara he said that it actually means nothing. He said while doing pre-production on their Thunder In The East album, the producer asked him to sing something for an unfinished part of the song and out came M-Z-A which ended up in the final track because the band couldn't find a line to replace it! But, Niihara has also said that in past interviews he would just tell people it means My Zebra’s Ass. lol
I get a good snicker when I see the M Z A being flashed cuz they said in interviews after being repeatedly asked what it meant, they said "Nothing at all, we meant to use something else later, but we couldn't come up with anything else when we had to make the decision, so we left it"
Loudness has so many killer tracks. Shadows of War is one of my favorite tracks from them. Someone else commented and they are correct, the chant "MZA" means nothing.
True Lagend of Heavy metal in world. Out of the best guitarist in World. You guys should check out Heavy Chain, Soldier of Fortune, Let it be by Loudness
I actually got to see them live, when they opened for AC/DC in 1986. I really likes these guys and the cassette that this song is from, but I felt bad for them, cause alot of people were booing them, and yelling nasty shit about them. As for me though, I enjoyed their show, especially the guitar player, who is really good.
MZA, ment absolutely nothing....lol. They were a musicians band in USA before they hit it big with Thunder In The East, all of them are great. We had a Japanese foreign exchange student, I asked him about Loudness, he was like ya I know of them, then he said but in Japan 🇯🇵 We love Twisted Sister...LOL.
Loudness lead singer said they had no lyrics for this song when they recorded the video, so he said the lyrics were made up on the spot and just gibberish. He said mza has no meaning, that's just popped in his head.
The white kids in America went to see Loudness open for Motley Crue and most of them walked out after Loudness performed because that's who they went to see! Rock and Roll crazy nights you are the hero's tonight! MZA, say it till you Zen!
"MZA" means nothing... It was a "filler" lyric that was put in till they came up with something better, but they never did so it just got left in there
Everyone does this song. One of their weaker efforts in my opinion. Got forced into that over produced U. S sound of the time. Go for the older stuff, Crazy Doctor, In the Mirror, Speed, or any of the hundreds of tunes since 2001. Over 20 studio albums and still going

"Well, we're gonna rock and pile you
We're gonna do our best"
The most positive lyric in 80's metal history :)
Their Album " Thunder In the East" is an amazing straight-up classic metal album from the '80s. Since then, original bassist and Drummer have passed away (RIP)
Thats sad. But its so awesome we can still enjoy their lifes work on youtube!!
Original bass player Hiroyuki Tanaka were only a member in 1981. The same year he was replaced by Masayoshi Yamashita who has played on most albums and are still a member. It's also him in the video
I have been blessed to see these guys in concert in Phoenix opening for Mötley Crüe on the "Theater of Pain" tour.

After this, the vocals are fired and an American singer joins.

Therion's version is outstanding!

Yes! The drummer was killing it!!
The band actually didn't speak any English when they did this song and learned to sing in English phonetically

Loudness has so many killer tracks. Shadows of War is one of my favorite tracks from them. Someone else commented and they are correct, the chant "MZA" means nothing.

Im glad you were open minded! It stinks when people act like that! Metal is supposed to unite us!
@@TheWolfHunterZ Exactly, but I had already heard them, cause I had their album.

Loudness the best...
Loudness was my 80 band.
I have a concert shirt of theirs, but I never wear it because it's that old metal t-shirt material that just doesn't last long.
They opened for Sammy Hagar on his VOA tour. I saw them in Salt Lake City. Good show.
This song doesn't even come close to what a badazz Akira was,..
Might be the greatest all-time at one point~
Tnaks for the Reaction~
This guy's started in 81'. Guitarist was Japan's Van Halen
Nice to have new reactor welcome Dolly😎
Thanks so much gaston!
Their lead guitarist Akira is a freakin legend. For a taste, listen to Soldier of Fortune.
I did not read all of the comments, but I believe that Gene Simmons discovered them.

Sounds like a Kiss song. Kind of fitting since they are dressed a little like Kiss too.
Kiss wishes they could play like Loudness. In 85' most hard rock bands dressed this way though..
M - Z - A
Metal - Zone - Arena
🤘🏼
😁
Listen to You Shook Me by them
