Hi Andy, I think this style of video is an improvement on the previous ones, because you get to see more of the watch.

Nice review. The best Patek out there for me.

Lovely review! Brimming with quality information and lavishly illustratred with beautiful shots ! As for the watch.... Great piece, no doubt ! Sober and stark just like military watch should be. Bit it is not without some delicate touches ! And comes with calibre featuring clever and important functionality ! I really like it. Very much so !

Great video Andy. I own the 5524G and it is a beautiful watch that wears smaller than its dimensions would suggest and has a real aviation feel. I love its “ugly duckling” nature in the Patek collection and it does fly under the radar. However, it is delicate and mine stopped within a year of purchase. Patek serviced it, replaced a part and gave me a new 2 year warranty and it runs perfectly. Don‘t know whether it was an issue with my watch or a QC issue generally.

A Patek should be for ever, so hopefully built that way.

This is my favourite Patek indeed. The complication is so well executed. I wonder if I prefer the aquanaut travel time, though.

Very nice watch, shame the subdial is the date & not a small seconds...but no hacking on a navigation watch?!! Much prefer this to the Genta monstrosities! Excellent video, thank you 👍🏻👍🏻

The Patek looks similar to the Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special 40mm. Both have several similar features especially the arabic numeral

Do you think it holds the price. Or do you lose money if the clock one day continues ?.
I buy, of course, because I think the watch is delicious. But will of course not lose more in the most necessary.

I would say, at this time it would not hold retail if you were to sell soon after purchase. However, nobody knows what will happen to the market, and given PP’s popularity, this may be a hot piece of the future. Best thing is to buy what you like on the first instance.

4:10 more like, quintuple the price...just google it the retail price of a 5711 stainless is only 30,000.

If they made a steel version on a steel bracelet it would be the winner
that it isn't. I would buy one tomorrow. In gold on a leather strap it
falls between two stools: sport/tool watch or dress watch? Neither, so
not competition to either. It is a watch that doesn't know what it is.
'Calatrava Pilot Travel Time' in one sentence makes my point. To add,
there are so many on the secondary market because people are buying them
in the hope of getting a Nautilus out of the Patek AD and then selling
them on to get the funds back in case the ploy actually works. Lastly,
big case made of highly polished soft gold. Ouch. Will need to be babied
like an occasional dress watch or it will quickly look a mess.
But....it isn't a dress watch. You get my point.

This one was bought on the promise of a Nautilus, not happening. This watch isn’t babied, may be a little too fragile in my opinion. That 2 year warranty, ouch. I agree with your points, but it does have tremendous charm. For the money, I’d have just gone for a 5196R to scratch the PP itch, or a JLC Master Ultra Thin in gold + numerous Speedmaster iterations, in gold and a few vintage. It’s a lot of dosh for one watch.

@@TheEnglishWatch Don't misunderstand, it is a beautiful watch, as it should be for the price. Why only two-year warranty? That seems odd to me. I didn't realise that you had actually bought it, I thought you had borrowed it to review.

To add, it's wonderful to own a Patek; something special about that. And do get that JLC when you can; beautiful watches.

No, not mine. A colleague bought it. I would have spent my money elsewhere.

What the heck, but no, Zenith, IWC or even Moser are better buys……….because you need a calatreva.

@@TheEnglishWatch Andy, meant no offence, love your channel. I watch again and after my initial 2 rum and coke induced comment, I retract it. It’s a sleeper for sure, keep up the great enthusiasm you bring the hobby (and your channel). Best for 2022. But I’d still go big Pilot IWC or Zenith. Take the wife on a 20K trip and call it a win.

20k…I wish. More like 20 quid down the Dog and Duck. As I mentioned, not sure I’d drop 40 large on this one. I’ll let you know if I’m ever lucky enough. And don’t worry, we’re all susceptible to the odd rum and coke. Although more GnT for me if your asking.
