I enjoy the nonstandard calatravas. Another favourite of mine is the 5134G travel time, went out of production in 2008 and you can get one for a relatively sensible price now. Similar vibe, surprisingly sporty precious metal calatrava.
I almost don’t want you to buy one, since I haven’t picked one up yet and I reckon you hold genuine sway over the Patek market in the UK.
It looks pretty nice on the green strap. I picked up a 5170G chronograph in 2019 from an official dealer just as it was discontinued. And I have a 5146R annual calendar.
The watch protect looks incredible, it’s like PPF for watches. So cool!

congraz man! I have the 5524G, picked up the 6119G earlier this year and have a 4947A coming. not hot models all of them but I do like them very much!

Only dead fish go with the flow. Great to see a RUclipsr go for something other than the aquanaut and nautilus route. I have just ordered a 5205g which i think is also way under valued on the secondary market. Also has a great Patek developed annual calendar movement 👌🏻

that's a beaut mate , tbf I thought it would be well into the 60's but £42 k is good money , patek's are classy and seem to have strong residual value unlike Mclaren 's 😂, I've got an royal oak I'd happily trade in for that !

Love the green strap on the Patek and transforms how it would look over its original brown strap. I've got to say that the Patek Pilot watch from the 1930s is chaos and I love it! 😍

The Patek 5224G Pilot Calatrava looks like a copy cat of the Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special 40mm. Both have several similar features especially the arabic numeral.
If they made a steel version on a steel bracelet it would be the winner
that it isn't. I would buy one tomorrow. In gold on a leather strap it
falls between two stools: sport/tool watch or dress watch? Neither, so
not competition to either. It is a watch that doesn't know what it is.
'Calatrava Pilot Travel Time' in one sentence makes my point. To add,
there are so many on the secondary market because people are buying them
in the hope of getting a Nautilus out of the Patek AD and then selling
them on to get the funds back in case the ploy actually works. Lastly,
big case made of highly polished soft gold. Ouch. Will need to be babied
like an occasional dress watch or it will quickly look a mess.
But....it isn't a dress watch. You get my point.
Like a white gold aquanaut or nautilus? Or a white gold Daytona or sub 😜

@@TGE for thirty years, I worked hard, planed on one day treating myself to a nice watch. Twenty years ago, bought myself a Planet Ocean. The next year followed that with a Monaco, always picturing a Daytona in the near future. Then boom, the 21st Century comes along, I own a million pound home outright, and an Aston Martin or two, but you know what? No freaking way will I ever be able to accept that 30,000 is a reasonable amount of money, or represents ‘good value’ for any kind of darn watch! Never mind the fact my fantasy Daytona is somehow suddenly going to cost me a Kidney! To hear anyone say these prices these things cost today is either reasonable or good value, drives me utterly insane. 🤪

Haha thank you. The important aspect is that you are happy with the strap. For me I feel like the strap weighs down the watch and does not do it justice I just like to keep everything original on my Pateks. Do what you like man.
