Not forgetting he's not a vocalist but a rapper. RM is actually a poet and lyricist at heart. He has the most input in the writing of the BTS's songs. The song is about self-acceptance and being content in the moment so it's easier to face all the struggles in life. It's alo about him not wanting to comply to what society/people expect from him.
Cbtm made me so emotional but in a good way. BTS individually has grown so much. You can not hear any tone of insecurity in their respective music anymore. Among the group, the most confident one in expressing maturity as an artist is RM. He doesn't need any boundaries when it comes to his craft. I'm so proud of him! 💜
This is very much RM’s vibe from his solo music. He’s a poet. This is from an upcoming album. He’s definitely more alternative. His collabs are genius as well. You need to check out Smoke Sprite, Don’t Ever Say Love Me, and Sexy Nukin. Also every song on the new album is going to have a video and I think it’s going to be a whole connected story based on the albums theme.
Well actually RM is known for this kind of music. His past albums Indigo and Mono are very much similar to this sound. Do give them a listen when you can. Mono is still my fav with Moonchild and Seoul my fav tracks not only from him but among the whole of BTS discovery.
I don't know if you have checked out any of the other RM albums or bts members music. NONE of them make kpop music. What even is kpop? RM is known for Indie style pop and rap. His mixtape MONO is a masterpiece. its piece of art about depression and loneliness. Or indigo, a multi genre indie style album about his 20s. Jhope makes Old school 90s hiphop and hiphop street dance music. Suga does his own production and makes multi genre blends of hiphop and pop. V does pure rnb and jazz influenced music. Sounds nothing like kpop. Jin is a trot influenced rock ballad singer. Only jimin and jungkook have touched 'pop' and its still not kpop, its retro style pop music. BTS as a group itself don't sound like kpop. In one single album they can have ballads, to rock songs and dance music and edm. Kpop is not even a genre in the first place. Its the name for an industry. I dont know why the west has to pigeonhole them to a singular label. And BTS really don't fit in at any aspect. RM is a poet first of all and that shows in his msuic. His introspective ideas are also the foundation of BTS music. We can't really say "Oh i didn't expect this from this artist" without listening to all their previous works. So i suggest you guys listen to all their albums. The albums are the real deal. Real art.
This reminds me more of songs like SEOUL from his second Mix track on MONO. Love this. Like BTS led the way to show a group of artists, industry outsiders can do the impossible and make it big not obeying the rules. RM proves you dont have to sell out. You can be the artist you want. RM is a poet, main lyricist of BTS and with a148 IQ with a love of philosophy. I never look for literal meanings. 😊MY THEORY in RMs work every mix tape and album is different from the last. His first self titled mix tape the track DO YOU( the song that says clearly he refuses to be labelled or boxed into any genre). He is continuously pushing boundaries. In a way thats what is also happening in the mv. RM wanders around depressed confused and unhappy through all these potential different lives and expectations never being comfortable. We see this has been so since he was small. At some point he becomes more comfortable in each scenario after being united with his other half/ self, and he can be more comfortable with others. But he still doesnt stay, he moves on finds himself and accompanies the woman( his other half Jung or Plato?) out of the maze of societies expectations to find non of it's real. In the light he sees its all fake sets designed and created by someone else. However with RM there is always light at the end. Hope of better futures now he can see what life is about, he is free of those boxes. There are several clues for ARMY buried within the MV. Pain Devine. During a conversation piece with Pharrell Williams they discussed judging lyrics by how painful they are to produce ...pain divine, devine inspiration?
Maybe watch out production team and cast behind this... starting 'Beef' director.. Maybe... RM "wondering in the maze of life, in different dimensions", which door we walk through and what remains behind closed doors?... This is real song what we can really listen, a movie to watch and thoughts to talk about after💜

He's a poet before he became a rapper. This song with the MV just reminds me of that fact again.
This is an indie pop song. I like how all of the BTS members are doing what they want to, not caring about the trend
