They are very good, but I need them for the upcoming build and a bit more rise would not hurt. The previous iteration had motobars with 120 mm rise, will probably go back to that setup.
Just in case you were interested, you could put a 7 speed SRAM '1:1 actuation' shifter on and it'd work just fine as the ratios are very close. I ran an 11 speed mech with an 8 speed cassette and shifter and all was well.
Hi. Aluminium hanlebar never will be comfortable! You put wide tires on the narrow rims - this will cause instability in corners and "kill" the benefits of a wide tire. Sorry for being so frank, but you focus on the hangers on the basket and ignore the essence of the correct construction of the bike, making a lot of mistakes, using solutions that don't make sense at all. Best regards and I wish you perseverance.
I shall motobar all bikes. All of them. The essence of a ratbike is the ignorance of correctness and sensible conformity, it is the senseless rusted counterbalance in a world full of Schwalbe Marathon.
Definitely the most creative build of Cheap Bike Build off 2024, a true rat bike 👏👏👏
@@KitVonRadical Time to go shitbike hunting for this year’s challenge!
love this bike, building my own version! great to have youtube content from you!
Haha, welcome down here to us in the Ratbike crew! No rules, have fun. I'd love to see your bike when it is done (BTW, they never get done).
@@bike2fika got a gt palomar frame which i've nearly finished taking to bare metal and a 700c kona project 2 fork, and i need to find time to build it
@@domofreekerly-thin4556 That'll be sweet! Somehow I never seem to get a GT...always wanted one.
Sweet build! All of the rust on my bikes is unintentional, but I've really been wanting to do something like this to a frame for a while now.
I want to do another raw steel ratty build, but based on a lugged frame…just got to find a suitable candidate that is already thrashed.
Love the patina of the bare steel frame. Personally, I think the aluminum bars are a nice contrast.

What a cool bike 😊
Thanks, I'll continue to mess with it, so much fun!
Yes please for the video of the inner tube wrap!

Cool, I love such shifter hacks...just very uncommon to see SRAM shifters on the old bikes I pick up.
Well done this is a sweet steed 👌
Many iterations of it, cannot stop messing with it.
Perfection in every way 😍
Perfect in its imperfections...at least it stirs some emotion, it is never dull.
❤❤
