Having worked for Apple and knowing a bit directly at how they do things, I know for sure AI is being the main focus for Apple for at least the past 5 years and I’m patiently waiting bc I know Siri will jump from the worse to possibly the best assistant yet just like they did with the M1 chip.

you’re definitely onto something here. Apple has been slowly taking their time to get it ‘right’. they want to make Siri truly USEFUL in a variety of different contexts when it comes to AI. this takes time. slapping an interface on that just spits out information when you ask it questions probably isn’t something that Apple views as truly valuable. there’s always more and you know when Apple does it the right way, everyone else will follow.

You are right for the most part but I am surprised that you missed a very evident angle here that’s famously tied with Apply business strategy of 4 decades. It’s “be the last to be the best, not the first” and Apple does that by learning market firsts’ and leaders’ mistakes. In my theory, Apple got confused about its Mantra in Siri launch during the days of Apple grieving Steve Jobs and was trying to figure out the identify and philosophy alive of an icon within its culture and Siri was the ultimate result of this confusion but as soon as Apple reached a resolution stage, it learned from its mistake and stopped pushing on Siri to be back of track to wait and observe and then relaunch when everyone else has shown its mistakes.
You can see this in the example of Apple nowhere to be seen in foldables, cameras, screen bump war and now AI war and only recently started being visible regarding its AR/VR ambitions when everyone else has failed . Just my two cents and I am ok to be completely wrong!

Sad that some people are so hooked and need to have this kind of data gathering technology in their lives.

    Where’s your event?

If they replace Google with their own search engine I’m switching to android lmao. That would be so wack. All we went is a better virtual assistant, not an even more inescapable ecosystem.

So it's not an announcement then. If they don't announce publicly they will not announce anything. If there was to be an event next week they would announce that on there website.

I actually have been thinking that Apple would be wise to keep in the background while working on AI.There are so many things that can go south in this developing technology. Yes watch them and learn from the early missteps. No valid reason to jump head first into choppy uncharted water.

But why should they just stop working on Siri? Why not continuening with Siri to develope a serious AI out of it?

In my opinion, The only reason I think why apple did not improve Siri is simply there is no incentive for Apple. The only way you can make money from free AI powered products is by harnessing the data and use it for ads or by subscriptions. Will anyone of you like crap ton of ads on your iPhone. I still think you are right they will not sit back. I think they can bundle up with apple one. I just don’t know how they will convince an Apple user after all the improvements they did with Privacy.
