As a 65 year old man, that remembers when it used to going to the gym was to actually focus on working out, and camaraderie with the fellas. Then women changed the entire atmosphere and it's like they're coming in with their bra and panties, then calling guys creeps for looking at them...but if the men aren't approaching or looking at them, complain about that!?! I prefer to set up a decent home gym to workout.

To all men who work out and women are videoing, go to the staff and ask if this is public or private property. If it's private, make a complaint and ask to have the police called because there is an expectation of no videoing and privacy
A few times at my local gym when I see a phone set up unattended I'll pick it up and take it to the front desk and every time a woman freaks out and starts screaming it's theirs. I just say "you can straighten it out with the front desk." My wife has even had to run interference so I don't get attacked by them, lol. I just ask the front desk to ensure it gets to the owner and tell them it was recording when whoever knows they're not supposed to because it's posted everywhere "NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEOS". I know at least 4 people have been kicked out of the gym on the spot and 2 for sure lost their memberships. There's a "no photos" sign posted like every 10ft on the walls and even in the locker rooms.
Just ban the recording in gyms for God's sake , it's a breach of privacy and it's a gym , it's simple. If a gym don't protect their paying patrons privacy then they should be held accountable by Not Getting Your Money .
Tbh, I stopped going to the gym because I'm overweight, I'm not there to make friends, look cute or wasting my time, I wear comfy and appropriate equipment and clothes, I sweat a lot because I'm FAT and I get red like I'm about to explode because I have asthma too, I don't give a fuck about my look or who is looking at me but I stopped going because the GIRLS the fit ones laugh at me or ridiculize my body... they go there with even fake lashes, I don't care but it made me feel bad at the point I was struggling mentally. I never had any problem with men, fit or not, they helped me because I didn't know how to use few things, they cheered me and made me feel good, even knowing that I probably smelled horrible but I just can't stand these girls...

I remember a funny story from the mid-90s when I was about 18, and affordable laser pointers just became a thing. My friend had just got one and was showing it to me as we were walking into the gym. I was shining it on everything and realized I could bounce it off the mirrors on the walls. We didn't know back then how dangerous they were. Anyways, it reflected off multiple angles, and I realized that it was shining on this middle-aged lady who was sitting on a bench. I suddenly lock eyes with her, and she's fuming! It was there for a second at most. She dropped the weights and almost sprinted to the manger. I couldn't hear everything she said, but I could tell she was mad and pointing at me the whole time. When she finally stopped, I could hear the manager say that she could finish her workout out or leave. Thankfully, she left. As she was leaving, some of the cheerleaders for the Buccaneers walked by, and we had a laugh about it. This almost made her face turn red! They couldn't believe that she had made such a big deal about it. It's not like I did it on purpose. Some people are too sensitive. The manager never said anything about it to me.

There are items at gyms you don’t have at home yet at the same time it doesn’t have to be something super expensive to get started with your workout journey. Gyms should have a no phone or recording device policy everywhere but that’s largely not the case. I personally enjoy the peace and quiet from exercising at home so I don’t see myself ever returning to a gym now or in the future.

Okay, so I'm a woman, and I do go to the gym from time to time. That being said, i do NOT wear just a sport top and leggings to the gym. I wear a big baggy T-shirt and sweat-pants/joggers that have pockets and such for my music player and wallet, as i don't trust leaving my wallet and such in the lockers, also i don't wear makeup unless it's Halloween or a special occasion like a wedding. To all the "gym girls" or "influencers" and anyone else going to the gym with cameras recording everything you do, if you want to make videos of weightlifting then get weights and such for your home, don't do it at a public gym. Also to those same people if you wear tight cloths that leave basically nothing to the imagination, just like wearing a bikini, people are going to look at you, you're making a show of yourself, you're making yourself into visual entertainment for people online anyway, if you don't want people to watch you be dumb by dancing around instead of actually working out and calling attention to yourself with your antics of invading other people's space and generally making a nuisance of yourself then STAY HOME, and absolutely DO NOT RECORD IN A PUBLIC SPACE. People seeing camera equipment will likely look over, because curiosity of "Oh is that a camera?" and then "Oh, i wonder what they are doing?" it's not because of interest in YOU or creeping on YOU, it's because cameras and the way you're dressed and acting by doing stupid tick-tock dances DRAWS PEOPLE'S ATTENTION...it also usually leave the people thinking about 9 times out of 10 "Oh my god, that person's an idiot." I once saw a woman go into the office and complain about a guy. They made him leave along with his seeing eye dog and his cane. Yah he was blind. I was on a trial membership, I said nah I’m good so did about 40 other people in there. They closed about 3 months later.
I bought a Total Gym, with a weight bar, to max out the resistance, 20 years ago, because you can move from one exercise to another, in seconds, to keep your heart rate up, so I never had to deal with this nonsense. I HIGHLY recommend that other people do the same.

This is really sad. I started lifting weights 16 years ago. I guess before it was the it thing for women. And it was sometimes hard to wonder if I was going to be judged. I use to practice my workouts before I went. But then I started to get the hang of it and loved sharing the space with men. I even had a few guys give me tips which I really appreciate looking back. There were times I was able to give those tips back. And I always felt that if the guys looked my way they were impressed with what I was doing, how much I was lifting or my progress. I’ve always gone to gyms on a military base and never had issues.

Camera laws in Canada are about public spaces, if you are in public & there is no expectation of privacy, You can look, you can record... I remember a funny story from the mid-90s when I was about 18, and affordable laser pointers just became a thing. My friend had just got one and was showing it to me as we were walking into the gym. I was shining it on everything and realized I could bounce it off the mirrors on the walls. We didn't know back then how dangerous they were. Anyways, it reflected off multiple angles, and I realized that it was shining on this middle-aged lady who was sitting on a bench. I suddenly lock eyes with her, and she's fuming! It was there for a second at most. She dropped the weights and almost sprinted to the manger. I couldn't hear everything she said, but I could tell she was mad and pointing at me the whole time. When she finally stopped, I could hear the manager say that she could finish her workout out or leave. Thankfully, she left. As she was leaving, some of the cheerleaders for the Buccaneers walked by, and we had a laugh about it. This almost made her face turn red! They couldn't believe that she had made such a big deal about it. It's not like I did it on purpose. Some people are too sensitive.

There are items at gyms you don’t have at home yet at the same time it doesn’t have to be something super expensive to get started with your workout journey. Gyms should have a no phone or recording device policy everywhere but that’s largely not the case. I personally enjoy the peace and quiet from exercising at home so I don’t see myself ever returning to a gym now or in the future.

Okay, so I'm a woman, and I do go to the gym from time to time. That being said, i do NOT wear just a sport top and leggings to the gym. I wear a big baggy T-shirt and sweat-pants/joggers that have pockets and such for my music player and wallet, as i don't trust leaving my wallet and such in the lockers, also i don't wear makeup unless it's Halloween or a special occasion like a wedding.
To all the "gym girls" or "influencers" and anyone else going to the gym with cameras recording everything you do, if you want to make videos of weightlifting then get weights and such for your home, don't do it at a public gym. Also to those same people if you wear tight cloths that leave basically nothing to the imagination, just like wearing a bikini, people are going to look at you, you're making a show of yourself, you're making yourself into visual entertainment for people online anyway, if you don't want people to watch you be dumb by dancing around instead of actually working out and calling attention to yourself with your antics of invading other people's space and generally making a nuisance of yourself then STAY HOME, and absolutely DO NOT RECORD IN A PUBLIC SPACE. People seeing camera equipment will likely look over, because curiosity of "Oh is that a camera?" and then "Oh, i wonder what they are doing?" it's not because of interest in YOU or creeping on YOU, it's because cameras and the way you're dressed and acting by doing stupid tick-tock dances DRAWS PEOPLE'S ATTENTION...it also usually leave the people thinking about 9 times out of 10 "Oh my god, that person's an idiot." Also a LOT of the time that guys -would- approach a girl at a gym is because of the girl obviously not knowing how to work the machine correctly to actually do a proper workout, BUT because of all this recording and being offended if someone even breaths in your direction in a public space leave alone GLANCING in your direction *gasp*, now most guys will NOT approach a girl in the gym for ANY reason even if they are using a machine wrong and could hurt themselves.
Personally I think cameras should be banned from gyms. If a "influencer" insists on having their camera with them then they aren't allowed in the gym, period. You can record your gains/losses in a notebook at the gym and if need be on camera once you're home.
If I see any camera in a gym, especially on a tripod, an accident will happen. Trip, fall, or something and a camera would be involved.
Videotaping is forbidden in the gym I go to. The owners reserve the right kick anyone out for any reason. People behave like adults , but it's not the USA.

I once saw a woman go into the office and complain about a guy. They made him leave along with his seeing eye dog and his cane. Yah he was blind. I was on a trial membership, I said nah I’m good so did about 40 other people in there. They closed about 3 months later.
I bought a Total Gym, with a weight bar, to max out the resistance, 20 years ago, because you can move from one exercise to another, in seconds, to keep your heart rate up, so I never had to deal with this nonsense. I HIGHLY recommend that other people do the same.

This is really sad. I started lifting weights 16 years ago. I guess before it was the it thing for women. And it was sometimes hard to wonder if I was going to be judged. I use to practice my workouts before I went. But then I started to get the hang of it and loved sharing the space with men. I even had a few guys give me tips which I really appreciate looking back. There were times I was able to give those tips back. And I always felt that if the guys looked my way they were impressed with what I was doing, how much I was lifting or my progress. I’ve always gone to gyms on a military base and never had issues.

Camera laws in Canada are about public spaces, if you are in public & there is no expectation of privacy, You can look, you can record... However the gym is not a public space, it is a private establishment with different rules, it is up to the owner of each business to make rules & enforce their space.. I would talk with the staff, express your concerns about filming. If you have done your due diligence, than fight fire with fire.. If these women are free to record, so are you! She is the creep recording you as you workout, make it known before she does! If any woman wants to work out half naked without being looked at by guys, go to Curves!
