    Note: Since the making of this video, roughly two years ago the claims procedure for lost mail etc, has changed considerably and is a lot easier to deal with - hence, we now always file a claim for lost mail and I would encourage everybody to do likewise...this is an old video.

    I spend £900-£1200 a month with Royal Mail OBA Click & Drop, I looked at my invoice recently and I'm getting charged £3.71 inc VAT for a RM48 (untracked) pacakge up to 1kg, business account users are now charged an 8% fuel surcharge on all parcels. I appear to be paying more than the man on the street who posts one item using Royal Mail online.

    Great video. Literally a life saver. A thing to be born in mind is that when trying to use integration an up to date browser is essential for it to work. I have an old computer and integration didn't work as I was using an old browser. I didn't twig. The integration is an enormous help when you don't have enough hours in the day. Also no worries about mistakes transcribing addresses manually.

    Thanks for posting this. My daughter has been selling on eBay using Click and Drop, nearly all large letter 2nd class with no proof of delivery so she is open to to the small minority of scammers who want something for nothing. I'm now looking into an OBA account so we can use the Royal Mail 48 service and get a delivery scan.

    I end up hanging around the post box at collection time because my local post office just complains if I try and drop parcels off with him to be collected (stuff that won’t fit in the box) I’m looking for oba for the collection service at this point but didn’t get a call back last time I tried which was annoying. Give them purchase receipts. How can i give receipts for items i got 3-5 years ago. Lol. Instead of promised till 100 gbp compensation they did send 8 stamps as a compensation for postage cost. I also registered with OBA. I received everything I need. Bags, labels, etc. Online everything works and eBay is connected to click and drop and oba account is running. But now I don't know how to start. My click and drop already shows dozens of my orders I already dispatched usual way I used to do.
      Now can I buy postage from c&d today? Or everything should be manifested the same day I take bags to the Post office (Monday in this case) ? And how to be with sorting by class and type? If I have 5 letters of 2nd class and 30 LLs, it doesn't make any sense to use a bag for the sake of 5 letters.
      And also in future, what if I do all my parcels by 13:00 and print manifest. And later by 16:00 I have few more orders? Do I print another manifest and put 2 manifests in the same bag?
      And do I put manifests inside the bag or how can I attach an A4 paper to a bag?

      The standard Click & Drop is well worth a go mate and very easy to use. Once you qualify for OBA I would definitely have a look into it if I were you - the monthly billing is a bit of a pain and it would be nice if they introduced a pay per item option for OBA. But yeah, if you're currently going to the Post Office for your postage needs, I'd definitely give C & D a go.

    Leftover Venison - 1. Is 'proof of delivery' (only) available if you have (both) an OBA and click & Drop?
    2. Are 24 and 48 postal services the only services with 'proof of delivery' service added?
    3. You said OBA has postage discounts, but does it not add extra VAT to the postage costs? Lets say regular postage was £1, and the OBA price was 90p, if 20% VAT was added it would be £1.08p as an additional 18p was added as VAT to the 'what seemed' like a 90p cheaper option.

    • @LeftoverVenison
      @LeftoverVenison  2 года назад +1

      Hello there
      1. Proof of delivery is available to standard click and drop via 1st / 2nd Class "Signed for", Special Delivery & Tracked 48/24 (differs from RM 24/48). Signed for is a lot more expensive than RM 24/48. I think RM 24/48 is only available via OBA & Click & Drop integration.
      2. See above - you can send via the recorded and tracked services with an OBA also
      3. VAT is not charged on standard mail - only Business Only products such RM 24/48. For example RM 48 Large Letter up to 100g in weight is charged at 0.86 + VAT (£1.04 approx. total). 2nd Class standard for us is charged at 90p (no VAT to pay) - but does not come with delivery confirmation.

    • @Abaddon3x7
      @Abaddon3x7 2 года назад

      @@LeftoverVenison I get a lot of 'Item Not Received' cases from fraud at ebay. So I am looking for a cheaper alternate to fully tracked mail.
      (Quote Proof of delivery is available to standard click and drop via 1st / 2nd Class "Signed for", Special Delivery & Tracked 48/24.)
      - Those are all expensive, its the cheap option (proof of delivery) I need. Which seems is only available from your reply with the business RM 24/48? Which needs an OBA 'as well' as the C&D?
      The proof of delivery versions of RM 24/48 can these be posted in a post box?
      Your price of RM 48 Large Letter 100g (£1.04 approx. total) with POD is good. I pay 1.29 first class, 2nd class 98p with 'no proof of delivery', you can guess how it turns out expecting buyers to be honest.
      What do you pay for LL 250 grams? For standard first class I pay £1.83, £1.53 for second class, its way too expensive for something that has no proof of delivery, I use it for my £8.99 items, and that price point is enough for customers to say they didn't receive the item. But its not expensive enough for me to use a fully tracked service. If I can get 'proof of delivery' for around the same cost that's ideal.

    • @LeftoverVenison
      @LeftoverVenison  2 года назад +1

      @@Abaddon3x7 Yeah I know what you're saying. Something to note with the RM 24/48 is that they SHOULD get delivery confirmation - but they don't always scan them...which is crap.
      Royal Mail 24/48 is only available if you have a business account with Royal Mail and no you can't just put them in the post box unfortunately. You need to raise a manifest and sort the mail yourself and then drop them with RM directly or via a Post Office branch.
      So RM 24 /48 for LL up to 250g costs us (incl VAT) £1.86 / £1.42.
      Standard Mail for LL up to 250g 1st / 2nd class costs us: £1.62 /£1.24.
      So you can see the RM 24/48 service is a little more expensive than the standard mail but "technically" comes with a delivery scan. I've done a little review video of the 24/48 service that you might be interested in (if you haven't watched it already).
      Sending items priced at £8.99 via standard mail on eBay is definitely risky and I know exactly what you mean re: buyer fraud! We had a similar issue - most of our products sell around £5.00 so a fully tracked service from RM is very rarely worth it for us - this is why we switched to the OBA so we can access the 24/48 service.
      Another option worth a little look at might be Hermes Postable via Parcel2Go - you're looking at £2.10 (including VAT) for a fully tracked service. I used to hate using Hermes but we now send some of our sales via this service and have found it surprisingly very good. (Not that £2.10 is particularly cheap but it's handy as you can send up to 1kg in weight so handy for larger orders that you might want fully tracked).

      Still, when sending anything of real value I'd always opt for the Tracked 24 / Tracked 48 service which is currently very affordable for LL post at just £2.70 for T48 up to 750g and a mere £3.30 for Tracked 24 up to 750g. Can't go wrong with that :)

    Do you use Royal Mail OBA?

      @maniesinghwalia8726 3 года назад

      I do, but I was thinking shall I switch over, because royal mail provide you with the labels so you save money there, also it's integrated with all platforms, where as I don't think OBA is... OBA seems a bit clunky to me... although I have been using it for a while. What do you think?

    • @LeftoverVenison
      @LeftoverVenison  3 года назад

      @@maniesinghwalia8726 Yes, I'd agree with that OBA is clunky and feels a little dated, but integrated with Click & Drop I feel it all works pretty well. The labels provided by RM are also a bonus, like you say.

    I can't believe that you wouldn't put in a claim for lost mail ! I doesn't matter how small the value it's just lost profit.

      I can't believe you would put a space before the exclamation mark! :) Anyway...since the making of this video about 2 years ago the claim process has been very much streamlined and yup, we do indeed claim for all lost mail these days. It was a total pain the butt before.

    If you had bought the Royal Mail printer for £150. They send you the labels free permanently. Saves an absolute fortune

      They send you free labels permanently anyway mate, you just order them via the mail supply tab on their website. You don't need to purchase the RM sponsored label printer for that. So as long as the printer you buy uses 6x4 labels you're good to go.
