Nice to see the old girl come back to life !! I hope we get to see more videos on this machine (it's my favorite bulldozer on you tube).I hope some day I can find a good one at a reasonable price. Can you give us a little bit of history of how long you have owned it ,where you purchased it etc.
Thanks for the comment. I love this old Cat too. I have had her for about 45 years. Purchased it from a used parts/equipment dealer locally when I was about 20. It has only gotten occasional use in the last 30 years. I'll try to make more videos but they may seem repedative and filming is a bit distracting and time consuming. Not too good at it.
@@AndreasvonT Don't worry about it being repeadetive I love watching that old 74a doing what it does best ,Dad had one when I was growing up and I've always had a soft spot for a D6C,thank you for taking the time to make the video (there's a lot of videos of D2 and D4's out there but not many on a D6c) and in my opinion you do a great job making the videos !!
I'm still looking for a 9U or perhaps a B series D6. There's a retired contractor up near the Great Lakes that has over 45 Cats, many of them D6s. If he didn't live so far away, I'd throw him an offer for one of them.
@@AndreasvonT The "B" series ('59-67) and the "C" series ('63-77) overlapped each other by 5 years. I believe they both were powered by the D333 engine. I think Caterpillar's Model 12 motor grader also uses the same engine but I'm not sure.
I could smell that when it fired up.. The skidder should likely be a 353? Those were either 53's or 71's, or 92's later on?. All I ever saw in a skidder was 353, 453 or 6v53's in them for Detroit engines. I've got a collection of Detroit engines, probably 8 or more besides the dozens of other types.
thats no feat,,,i have a 1948 d4 7U...when i got it in 1988, it had been sitting 17 years,,,,towed it with d7 for 15 ft and it fired right up. No stuck clutches or brakes, Its in my back yard now, hasnt run in12 years, but im sure it will start again with a short push in 3rd gear.
I’m going to be 53 next week and this thing starts better than I do in the morning
I hear you but you probbaly have way more hours on the clock. This old girl gets lots of rest. All the best to you. Thanks for watching!
This video made me happy
I been waiting to see this old rig going again.
Thanks and sorry for the delay!

It’s my favorite dozer on RUclips also.

Appreciate you comments. It is a great little dozer. It deserves more TLC

I had a D6B together with my dad before I bought this one 45 years ago. The B had the same engine as this I believe.

Last cat I was on was a 1962 D6B long track with a winch

You are right. 353. I realized I misspoke after uploading. I am no engine expert. Appreciate your comments

I know you are in Northern Alberta, but what is your closest town ?
