- Andrew is riding high on press conferences but misses E3 so he gets the gang together to watch one of the great: Microsoft’s press conference from E3 2004. Relive the memories, the triumphs, and the disappointments that came with gaming 20 years ago. Did you get a Halo tattoo too?

Regulation supplemental material is better than coffee. 😊
It helps with regulation
Better than ice cream!
This is better than coke classic.

I'd love more of these old E3 watch alongs.
REGULATION WATCH ALONG LET'S GO WOOOO
I studied computer science and we actually used XNA during a game programming course back in 2009. It was actually a pretty decent framework for developing games as a hobbyist in a time where Unity and Unreal were still less accessible, but I have no idea why they spent so much time on it during this E3 as it's really only interesting to developers.
Wasn't E3 an industry event for businesses instead of consumers at this time?
They shat on it the entire time and it was obvious they had no idea what it was. Ironically, Gavin has played a game that used XNA because Stardew Valley uses it
Still going strong as Monogame, shittonnes of games have been made with it.
@@justicerainzYes, i think actually right around this time is when the shift started to go from industry trade show to more about the fans
Because E3 was an industry event for businesses instead of consumers back then.
I am so unbelievably happy that this group continued doing what they were doing after Red vs Blue went down. This type of thing is what makes youtube.
I could watch an entire series of this MST3K style just watching game conferences lmao
Someone should blindside Andrew with GoldenEye: Rogue Agent
Loved that game on the xbox 😂
If no one has played republic commando, it’s a fantastic game, highly recommend.
I'd love to see the crew struggle through Full Spectrum Warrior and its sequel Ten Hammers
Second!
Dude republic commando was amazing I still have it on the pc
Yes you guys should do the fake gameplay review/reenactment!
The cringe will be incredible
This rules.
Republic Commando was a good portion of my childhood 😂
That video chat portion was crazy.
This was amazing, i never know what to expect from you guys. What a great idea for a watch along
Regulation Full Spectrum comment
This is one of the coolest commentaries to E3’s that will never be again. Very cool. Hope you guys do others. Hearing your commentary and opinions from so many different points of views is great.
Anyone else worried that Andrews voice isn't healed after like 2 months lol
Probably was filmed when he was still sick
This was a such great idea. Loved every minute of this video.
Glad Gavin recognizes that Godzilla games don't get made anymore. We need a new Godzilla fighter!
I was getting bored waiting for the showcase so this is nicely timed
Love this kind of content
Andrew NEEDS to play Conkers Bad Fur day haha
I love that game
I’ve been playing almost this exact game with the old episodes of the rt podcast
I LOVE CONKERS BAD FUR DAY. ONE OF THE GREATEST GAMES EVER MADE.
This was such a great idea. Bravo!
Absolutely love Fable! Hope Geoff plays the upcoming one.
First time watching regulation podcast, good stuff
Steel Battalion is the game that had the giant control panel
REPUBLIC COMMANDO 😎
Offically a Full Spectrum Comment Leaver
I appreciate the old e3 style back in 2004 it really shows you how much Hollywood has influenced the gaming industry nowadays
y'all didn't recognize Republic Commando??? Fantastic game.
This was a really good E3 showcase, crazy to think that I was just a little guy when this event took place, the halo 2 reveal takes me back to a far more optimistic time in gaming that I miss dearly.
Please do this with the other E3 conferences if you have the time! I enjoyed this regulation content a lot.
They definitely need to do more of these
Oh my god, you guys are doing a 20 years later too! Absolutely love it
Insane content
I want a regulation press conference so bad
Please do more of these!
God, E3, blast from the past. My favourite has to be the 2014? one with the PS4 and Xbox One reveals. It was just so chaotic and petty.
"Blast from the past" it's only been 5 years, relax
@@notveryniceatallit’s been 20 years, 2004 which is the blast from the past he’s referring to was 20 years ago.
@@notveryniceatall I know E3 ended in like 2020 or something, but I can honestly say that I didn't see anything from it after maybe 2015 or so. Life moved on for me.
Great recap boys
Ha wasn't expecting a Midtown Madness reference from Gavin! Loved that game as a kid.
loved this
I like the idea of looking back at these old conferences
This was the funniest thing I have watched in a while
Love hearing Andrew and Geoff talk Fable! One of my favorite franchises of all time! Those first two games were absolutely magical and I hope we see them do some kind of video when the new one drops next year
Nice to hear Geoff and Eric recommend Fallout 76, I have had a great time playing it since the TV show came out.
This is dope, I'm a moderately to big fan of old e3 conferences
Eric referencing Dave Meltzer’s star rating system made my day 😂
I watched till the end!
Markus Naslund was the highlight of this. West coast express represented on the regulation podcast baby
I've been meaning to watch 2004's conference since forever!
I want so many more E3 watch alongs. This ruled
53:00 I can't see this trailer without thinking about Monty Oum, RIP
More of this!!
Idk if it's just me, but the lighting for Full Spectrum Warrior looks great for 04
Need a shrek regulation gameplay
I loved that game so much I bought it twice, on the playstation and gamecube 💚
Love that this covers Doom 3 and that this comes out on RUclips mere hours before the trailer for a new Doom game hits the internet
You guys should absolutely play conquer live and reloaded. The multi-player was so fun I must have put hundreds of hours in it as a kid.
I watched the full video Geoff.
Steel Battalion had the giant controller - Mech Assault was a fun bundled game with the OG XBox and two normal controllers
XNA was a programming library for C#, I used it when I was learning to make games at university in 2008. It was the backbone of a lot of those early Xbox 360 indie arcade games.
for shrek co-op, you can probably emulate and use parsec to share controls for it - at least i think that works
Republic commando popping up hit me right in the nostalgia 😂
Timesplitters is awesome!
Regulation Engagement Comment
Long Live Regulation!
That shrek game was actually a blast. Had it on Ps2
This is the most hype conference to watch this week
Keep it up guys
When Gavin mentioned the interlacing watch the background during the flashes form the cameras and its very obvious
Star Wars republic commandos , conker live and reloaded ,halo 2 and fable what a year 😢
I have such a core memory of playing a pirated copy of doom 3 at a friend's apartment. It was a small 2 bedroom apartment, and they decided to hold a lan party in such a small space. I tried to play doom 3 with my headphones on at night, but people kept trying to scare me behind my back. I miss those days
My sister was Ali's occupational therapist for a few years at Cedars Sinai in LA. She said he was still hilarious to the end.
Geoff refusing to be a car game guy was such an insane moment in this video 💀 closer to gta
Good content
A full spectrum, regulation supplemental
22:47 dude! This Namco Arcade game came bundled with my first ps2
I was a regulation 3 year old when this came out so its cool to see what it was like back then
jesus i was 20
4:50 Nick willed the black hawk down game into existence right here lmao.😂😂
I must be one of the few people who LOVED the Mechassault series. I remember being so excited about being able to leave your mech for another. Too bad Microsoft barely remembers this series exists and it’s stuck in legal limbo…
I love Doom 3. I'm too young to have played the first ones so that was my introduction to the series and I still love it, exactly because it was very dark and scary, torch or gun, and people seem to hate it, and then a few years later Dead Space comes out and everyone loves it. It's all about expectation, they were expecting another frenetic shoot 'em up and got a survival horror
This was great omg 😂
LETS GO
Comment Leaver and Full Spectrum Warrior checking in.
If you guys wanna do another react, Noclip Game History Archive has the Xbox E3 2009 Press Conference in HD 1080!
Full...Spectrum Warrior
There's nothing I hate more than getting excited and then waiting. It fills me with dread and anxiety. E3 is just discomfort for me. This is the first time I've watched an E3 in a long time. It's, even more importantly, the only time I've ever felt joy doing so.
1:08:50 I swear I remember my little PS2 slim having a ethernet port on it, so I looked it up, seems like online launched in 2001 in Japan, 2002 in NA. Not that I ever played online with my PS2 haha
Yeah ps2 had a free online thing for a long time, you had to buy the modem though and put it in the back of the ps2. It was also the HDD tray/adaptor which you needed for some games like phantasy star online I think. Which is funny to think about because the dreamcast came with a modem that you could pop off and add an ethernet port in its place.
04/05, games were sponsored with the military like full spectrum warrior and the actual army game
Hey I sit through to the end.
XNA was a framework for indie devs to create and publish their games to Xbox, it was actually quite popular before the game engine market delineated into what it is today.
OMG A WATCH ALONG!
Makes me wonder if they will watch any of the PlayStation or other old game press conferences, i forgot which one it was but i remember one where they tried to hype up the room and badmouth other companies and after announcing there consoles price the next one to come on stage just said there systems price which was twice as cheap and walked off
I stayed to the end 😂
Really enjoyed star wars republic commando last time, tried searching for more. Too bad it was one of a kind.
That was Steel Battalion with the big crazy controller.
Gavin forgetting that videos were recorded in 240 back in the day
ok boys now that this was the biggest xbox showcase in 20 years. I think we need to watch this new show case
