    I've gotten 2 hours 30 minutes ride time with my FOIL board with still 30% battery life left. I've never taken it past the 30% as that is when it turns yellow and wants you to go in. But I will preface that I was giving lessons so we were going very slow and there was some time falling and swimming back to the board. But I do believe with the 3 hour ride time, but like you said, in perfect conditions. I normally don't go out for longer than 2 hours just because I get tired, and usually after a 2 hour normal ride at about 12mph (because I'm not one to go super fast), I never get below 40% battery life. I do have the larger battery, but as you mentioned, it is a lot heavier with the larger battery and I'm a small female. But I am able to beach launch it. Just not dock launch it at that weight. If you ever come out to Portland, OR, I'd be happy to let you test drive the FOIL!

      Cool, I used to live in SE Portland back in 2017, I miss Bellagios and BugerVille lol. Haven't visited in a few years we're thinking about making it to the Gorge Downwinder this summer. If that happens it would be cool to try it out while we're up there! Email me your info at Levi@bayfoils.com and we can be in touch. I've reached out to FOIL every summer to try arrange a demo Day here in SF to no avail I'd love to finally try one!

    Great video :D My only complaint is that Waydoo is tier A 😂 How can it be tier A when their facebook owners group is mostly posts of bent masts, broken parts, corrosion, I wouldn't buy a Waydoo because of all the quality issues.

    • @BayFoils
      @BayFoils  7 месяцев назад

      Because they are inexpensive. I'm in the forums i hear horror stories like that from lift too with 50/50 resolution from customer support. Waydoos are cheap enough that you can just buy a new one if it gets trashed in one year.

    You didn't mention that the flightboard has to be sent in to be inspected every 50 hrs or once a year else you loose your warrantee. $250 and shipping is what their main office quoted me but I've seen as much as 600 Euros.

    • @BayFoils
      @BayFoils  4 дня назад

      It's every 100 hours or with in 12 months of 1st use to preserve the a 2 year warranty. Fliteboards were designed around their system with the intent that every piece can be serviced, repaired and/or replaced. Every motor experiences wear and tear (not just efoils: boats, ebikes, scooters) the difference is the other brand just expect you to purchase a whole new unit when it eventually dies. Even outside of the warranty period a fliteboard is still fixable for a 1/4 of the cost of buying a new one. A custoner brought a series 2 unit (3 years old) that rusted. 2 hours later they were back on the water with a rebuild unit.

    Good review. I wish you knew more about the newest Wadoo boards. Have they overcome relyability issues. And lift has a cheaper 3 model you skipped over that I'd be interested what grade you would give it. And almost nothing on Batteries. The Ebike reviewers are all over that. Thanks for all the other info!

      There's a motto in the boating world "buy once cry once." There are cheaper brands compared to flite even though flite has brought their prices down. From the horror stories I've heard the quality is directly related to cost. Is saving 1k or 2k worth the potential issues with

      @@michaelculhane3058 This review is from 9 months ago so its a little out of out of date as the efoil market is rapidly changing. I definitely recommend doing your own research on prices (especially since global markets vary) but, This Summer Fliteboard released the New Flite AIR at $6999. Still using the same motor battery controller and wing technology as thier 12k carbon boards from 2023. A fliteboard will last your 5+ years (Many series 1 flites are still on the water.) can't say the same with waydoo.

    A really strongFlite bias, Many people really like the EPP foam boards on the waydoo because it isn't prone to getting and giving scratches. Also, aren't fliteboards really loud?

    • @BayFoils
      @BayFoils  2 месяца назад

      Series 1 Fliteboard's in 2020 were pretty lound as they didnt have the extra damping seals that the new 2024 efoils have. Wavestorm style foam boards absolutely will get scratched/torn up or just legit broken in half plenty of images on line showing this. Plus if you are concerned with scratches and dings and keeping your board visually perfect, Fiberglass/carbon can be sanded and re-glassed super easily, Foam boards are not repairable using PU or Epoxy.

    Sifly hat jetzt auch einen Jet. Man bekommt für Sifly auch einen Folding Prop von anderen Anbietern. Vom Preis Leistung meiner Meinung das Beste. Fliteboard hat natürlich mehr Auswahl. Ist aber auch teurer. Sifly ist auch deutlich besser als Waydoo. Ich habe beide besessen. Das Waydoo habe ich verkauft und das Sifly fahre ich jetzt regelmäßig und bin sehr zufrieden.

    We always like your great videos, but you might want to check what you said about the Audi e-tron foil by Aerofoils. When you made the video Aerofoils already had a choice of six wing sets (down to a 900 wing), all the ones in our NZ shop have 80cm carbon masts, 4500 Watt at the propeller instead of the usual 3600 Watt.
    Importantly, the price you showed for the Aerofoils included the VAT but not for the others, so in the EU its a similar price to the Awake Vinga and actually cheaper than a carbon Fliteboard ;-) Its wings and jet are quite a different design from Flite's (eg flatter wings more like the cruiser jet, anhedral stabilizer maybe even a bit polyhedral, choice of two propeller options in the jet quite different from flitejet) so its an interesting efoil you'll want to try yourself.

    • @BayFoils
      @BayFoils  7 месяцев назад

      Im down to try any and all efoils the hard part is getting them here! As an American company it's difficult to get current information regarding brands that are not super available/know here. While I don't specifically try cater out videos to just American audiences, it will be from an American perspective which for the etron will include VAT (which is not applicable on flite as they have a United States branch.) I understand they have 6 total front wings in their line up but they only have what appears to be 2 "shapes" with 4 in their flat shape and 2 in the surf shape. Both flite and lift or on different levels: Flite has 14 total wings 6 shapes, lift has 17 total wings 3 shapes much more variety. It feels like Audi is focusing on things like motor design and wings but ultimately what improves the efoil ride sensation is lighter weight or some ability to catch waves (which both flite and lift offer)

      Hi im the one in the video and yes, true story I spoke with a client that owned a waydoo, they finished a session on the water, as they were driving away their battery burst into flames IN THEIR CAR. Water plus lithium creates hydrogen gas which releases lots of heat and is extremely flammable. There are incidents on the internet of efoil batteries catching fire. Thermal runaway is kind of a big deal and not every brand puts the same level of safety measures that fliteboard does. Fliteboard is the only brand that has never had a battery fire reported.

      Haven't had the chance to try one yet. Their prices are reasonable and it looks like they have more options now, but ultimately they're super heavy 37kg is 80lbs, flite's heaviest set up is only 65lbs. Weight is a big factor on the overall ride experience, lighter weight is not only easier to carry but it extends your ride time, feels more fun to ride and makes it easier to ride wave. I'll take a 9k 50lb board over an 8.5k 80lb board anyday

    • @BayFoils
      @BayFoils  7 месяцев назад

      @@TheNaturalustFor the record I don't think efoils become "obsolete" like a computer of cell phone, I still have a fliteboard from 2022 that rides just as good and works for any style of riding I want to take it in (flat water, downwinding, surf ect). Some brands (flite, lift, waydoo) are built in a way that as you progress with your skills and experience. Their platforms offer you more ways to ride other than just flat water other brands (that are sometimes more expensive) do not. Also besides more safety features, I don't think there are big jumps in the performance of the current line of efoils to render the older models useless, I'm speaking more from a price structure. In 2021 a fliteboard was $13000, now they start at $9500, in 2 more years it's quite possible that we could have Fliteboards or lifts for like $4000, look at how ebike prices fell used to be 6-8k now you can get a decent one for around $1500.

    • @TheNaturalust
      @TheNaturalust 7 месяцев назад

      @@BayFoils Well our Specialized mountain e-bikes still cost over $7000. I guess you always pay for the best in any such toy. But I appreciate your wisdom on the efoils. We are thinking of getting a couple but are questioning the huge price tags. We are first class wave windsurfers and think our learning curve would be less than most because we know how to both read the ocean and balance and carve on a board. But we have never foiled. It looks like carving on them takes even less body/weight movement. It the downwind foiling without power that appeals to us most from watching. Just putting around on a flat lake probably wouldn’t cut it for us and a lightweight rig you can carry to the beach like our surf sailing rigs seems most desirable. We will soon rent some efoils out to see if it will be worth the investment.
      Thanks for your great information, just the kind of thing we need. I still use windsurf equipment a custom boards and sails I had made over 20 years ago and shred with them. There is a point when the innovations are mostly for beginners and we’re not sure if foiling has reached that point yet. We’d certainly like to start with equipment we wouldn’t quickly outgrow since we are such water dogs! 😂
