Testing the 2024 Flite AIR in 30mph winds under the Golden Gate Bridge | Ultimate Performance Test
Thanks, I was losing sleep over that question. Thanks for the videos!
Don't forget to sub to the channel. 🤙
FB Ultra 1500 CJ and 300 CJ was great for a few days. Now carving 15mph on F800/245 with negative shims, I weigh 162, top speed at 21mph on Sacramento River. Will try the CJ300 with F800 as you mentioned. Appreciate the explanation!
Hi levi, very instructive video! I´m weighting 145 lbs and riding the 100l fliteboard 2.2 with the standart cruiser 1100 wing and 290 stab. Now I want to become more agile, i.e. attempting narrower curves and turns at a slow speed (speed level 4 (max. 5)). When I get your recommendations right, the flow s 1100 with a cruiser 300 stab would be ideal, or do you have another suggestion?
You're pretty light so I would say flow 1100 s with a 245 and you'll be fine!
100% unbiased! Hahahahah😅😅😅
Baller on a budget, I'm going Saltbush Pro.
Just Fyi Saltbrush is currently only available in the EVA soft top which is very limited availability right now. Don't delay put in your order sooner than later so you can get some time on the water before fall comes.
I'll be looking for a Fliteboard because of the superior quality and support. There is a Flightschool down here in San Diego and they deduct the cost of a lesson, $300, from the bottom line when you buy a new setup.
Most Fliteschools will deduct the cost of a lesson from the purchase price. We really encourage people to take a lesson and try it out before committing 10k+ on a set up! 🤙
Great video! Thank you!
You're welcome, don't forget to like and sub!
Hey Levi! Love your videos, they've convinced me to buy a fliteboard, likely new. Question for you, when's the best time to buy a new board? It's too late in the season for me to really enjoy one this year. Are there any end of season sales or a time early 2025 when they will be releasing the latest products? Would love to hear what you think about that.
You know with the right wetsuit/dry suit efoiling a year round activity. In summer i ride flat water and in winter I surf. In general winter spring is the best time to buy as its not the peak summer season.
@BayFoils I live in Canada, so I only expect to do this a couple months of the year. Is there a time when they launch their new products and are there ever end of season sales?
@@SulibanX Not really if you're looking for a deal you should contact your local partner and ask them about any discounts on a used setup the guys at efoil muskoka are experienced and good friends of ours, they can get you taken care of!
@@BayFoils thank you. I'll do that!
@@BayFoils it looks like they only carry lift products. I'm more interested in a fliteboard. I'm guessing you'd agree with getting a fliteboard pro over the lift 3?
Hi I’m looking into or interested in purchasing an efoil but the prices are something I’m not able to afford and saw a company Xfoil. And looks like something I’m probably maybe afford. What’s your thoughts of Xfoil? Mahalo.
There are always consequences with going with a cheaper alternative compared to a trusted brand. A flite air is only 7k which is really the best value on the market for performance and reliability. Unfortunately efoil are still a pay to play hobby (just like motorcycles or offroading) trying to pinch pennies will only cause problems in the long run when you have an issue. We've been working with flite for almost 4 years now and have always had the best experiences and easy problem solving.
@@BayFoils Hi but what are your thoughts on the Xfoil? It is developed by a company in Silicon Valley California PLX Devices inc. and the developer Paul Lowchareonkul an avid water person. In what I was watching the Xfoil videos they don’t look like a Penny Pinching Company. Lmk your input on the Xfoil.
Feel Free to email us info@bayfoils.com
Sifly is way to low on that and I don’t own one but ridden one
Haven't had the chance to try one yet. Their prices are reasonable and it looks like they have more options now, but ultimately they're super heavy 37kg is 80lbs, flite's heaviest set up is only 65lbs. Weight is a big factor on the overall ride experience, lighter weight is not only easier to carry but it extends your ride time, feels more fun to ride and makes it easier to ride wave. I'll take a 9k 50lb board over an 8.5k 80lb board anyday
@@BayFoils I no but ride ride one and still tell me a waydoo is better 😂😂 I heard they are bringing out a new small board. Keep the videos up mate 🙏
@@supermotoxcw7695 Currently there is only one dealer in all of USA, in Flordia, which is 5000km away from us so it might be a while.
What wing/stabilizer/shim were they using in the lesson? I have the fliteboard model, intermediate rider, flyer 800 with the 290 stabilizer - I struggle with shim selection - your thoughts?
1500 cruiser jet plus 300 stab and a 3 shim. It's super easy to ride great pitch control for beginners and really efficient on power
Looking to get my 2nd wing. Started with cruiser 1100. Given the BOGO deal from fliteboard, I am thinking a flow 900 or 1100 paired with a flow S 900/1100/1300. I like going fast and carving. Thinking I should try at least one of the 900s. Thoughts? Btw I almost bought the flyer 800 before watching this video.
I am 5'10" 185lbs
I would say a flow 1100 and 900 with the 245 stabilizer if you are just looking for fast and loose. That being said both of those wings feel way better using a nano or sport battery compared to an explorer. If you really want to ride faster and carve harder consider a lighter battery.
@@BayFoilswhat about one flow and one flow S to have both options? If I did that would it make sense to go flow 900 and flow S 1100 or even S 1300?
Unless there’s written regulation there’s no regulation on Efoils. The coast guard has no regulation on Efoils at the moment 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Actually the USCG did come out with requirements in August 2022 that basically says comply with state level Numbering systems, Wear a PFD, Comply with 33 CFR 83 Inland Navigation Rules, and comply with ECOS (a non-issue for fliteboard owners). The link to the info is the Video description.

Would have loved some more detail on board registration in CA. Needed for riding in the Bay/ocean? More necessary in lakes?
Many state run lakes and reservoirs require registration and mussel tags. It doesn't hurt to register your board as it opens up more places for your to ride and it's super easy.
in one of your videos you also compared the prices of awake efoil (net) and aerofoils etron (gross). and of course than audi is more expensive. by the way. the hyperfly boards are designed for families and beginners so it should be easy to ride. they don’t want to go to the limit. put a piece of tape to close the anti breach system and you go up. please don’t give a review until you know all facts or better tested by yourself. thanks
Ah yes putting tape on your $16000 efoil to make it perform like a $12000 flitescooter. Anything that takes control away from the rider isn't really good. Riders that learn how to properly shift their weight with out any stabilization devices are better equipped to ride and reduce the risk of dangerous falls. And the great thing about having a youtube channel is we can offer our opinion (as experienced riders) and let our audience decide who to trust.
Can you tell me how to take off that cover on thread of jet module, when it's bright new, before connecting with mast,please...🤔
@@petrsson it's on the pretty tight you just have to force it. Wear some gloves for extra grip
@@BayFoils Do you mean pop it off or unscrew that somehow???🤔
@@petrsson it's not threaded on there it just pops off but it takes a bit of force to get it off the first time when it is brand new
@@BayFoils Ok...ThanX a lot
Is smaller battery better for wake foiling?
Yes lighter is always better for any kind of uncovered riding. Especially wake surf as a boat wake is typically slower and less powerful compared to ocean waves.
Hey are you there ❤
Yes...
Hello! Like question is you have time to respond; Just tried out the Audi E-Tron Performance this afternoon. It was a great great great machine, so well thought out. I found it a little too big and I want to use it for a long time and keep improving with an even more challenging board. Anyway, so now I checked, compared, looked at reviews, specs, and so on. My choice finally comes down to: Audi E-Tron Competition or Flite x Marc Newson. I’m not the kind who’s is going to swap parts all the time so that isn’t important to me, knowing that the flute is definitely more configurable. I found the fit and finish amazing on the Audi, but never had the chance yet to put my hand on a flire board. What do you think? Thanks
@@2179Louis If you are looking at the Marc newson model you are looking at the very top of the performance spectrum and lowest weight efoil on the Market. Flite is the only brand that offers a one piece monobloc carbon efoil with an inline motor fuselage design. Which are both huge design choices to make the ride experience the best out there. The etron mast and fuselage are aluminum like flite standard efoil (which is much heavier and has more drag) comparing the two is like comparing a camry to a supra. You should really find somewhere to try even a standard fliteboard before your purchase. I'm assuming you are in Europe as the Etron efoil not able to be purchased legally in the USA as they were given a cease and desist order from Flite for copyright infringement. I can't speak personally to the quality of the aerofoil's e-tron as I never tried one (again not available in the US) but audi has a track record of copying flite's designs after they are released (hyperfly and airfly are copys of the flite scooter and new flite AIR). There's a big reason many people on the internet say flite is the best, they are the only brand that constantly puts safety and performance ahead of everything else while also crushing sales.
Thank you - What are the chances that plugs for a handle could be added by an owner or 3rd party?
There are no plugs for a handle but you could use a stick on handle.
That was fast 💨😁 nice 🙏
We're Professionals.
Awesome review Levi!!!
Is it easy te replace it as it gets old and scratched? How do you remove it?
A heat gun an acetone would get it off real easy but I wouldn't worry about replacing it that defeats the point of put it on
Great :) Can you make a review of the MN controller with footage of it in use in the water? how do the menus, ui, charging etc look?
They look great, nice big bright screen. But it’s not as structurally rigid as the standard controller.
How do you like it compared to the Ultra L?
So much better it's not even in the same world. With a nano, and standard 75cm mast, the Ultra L2 only weighs 46lbs it's going to be under 40 with the new carbon efoil. I was foiling on power 1 with a flow S 1300.
I ride on gear 1 with the nano, ultra and 1500 jet and get 45min. How does the board compare? You like the narrowness and extra length?
It's lighter it planes better and turns better. It's is better in every measurable way.
Like i always say a fresh fart is a smelly fart.
???? 😂😂😂
Thanks for awesome info! What are your thoughts on the new wings: the MN 1300 and the Wave 1000 and 850, especially with an Ultra L2.
Haven't had the opportunity to test them yet still waiting for my wave edition efoil.
How do we get in the invite list for the next adventure? 😃
Send us an email. www.bayfoils.com/giants-game
hey fellas thx for the review. I am curious as to how this board would go catching waves - both typical slow rollers and also more downwind type wind swell ? Can these fliteboards catch those waves without using the throttle (ie can you swing onto waves with the motor but then cut the motor and glide / foil just using the waters energy, or is the overall weight of the setup prohibitive ??
It is totally possible to catch waves with the air eventhough they are the heaviest board option, just keep in mind it really depends on the power/speed of the wave you're trying to ride and your skill/weight. A skilled rider can surf 4-6 ocean waves on any set up as those waves have alot of speed and energy, but 2-3 footers rollers or boat wake maybe challenging for a beginner or when you're using a heavier set up (air board sport battery). That being said you'll never know until you try as it is all really personal and takes alot of trial and error to figure the customization out.
I'll be coming by for lessons in a few weeks, as you guys are right up the street from me. Glad you're here!!
Amazing day out great camera work 🎉
If you knew how to foil and did it for a few seasons. Would you buy an Air Pro as your one board with a jet or some other model? Thanks man
The Air board is great can't be beat for the price. I wouldn't recommend the jet as it goes through battery much quicker. If you did want a jet I would say get two Nano flitecells and one fast charger then you'll be set
In your videos you said something about the Audi efoil not being sold in the USA. What was that about? Thanks!
@@michaelvadney5803 They were served a cease and desist letter from flite at the FLIBS 2 years ago and are not allowed to sell in the USA. I'm not sure of the exactly what the details of the patent infringement but either way they're not allowed to sell in the USA.
Thanks for sharing Sifly's look really good but they are not available in USA so I haven't tried one yet.
Thanks for the video! Does a jet recover from breaches as good as a prop or will you have the tendency to nose dive that much more?
In my experience the jet is actually much easier to recover a breach than the standard prop and guard, as it's spinning about 4x faster, but recovering from breaching is really about proper throttle management and weight shifting.
Very nice, thanks. Having a soft but rigid board is tempting. I currently have a GetFoil and as you know, they closed their doors. That will be a problem if and when it breaks. The carbon is great, but learning on a CF board beat me up pretty good. I'm glad that I'm finally over that hump last year.
I mean the air is softer but you should be kicking the board far away from you when you fall regardless of the material. Trying to avoid the water and land on your board is not really safe as it puts you close to the wings and stuff. If you have the chance you should really try a fliteboard, you'll be very surprised how much easier and relaxing a fliteboard is compared to a Getfoil!
Thanks. I do know that if you are way off balance that it is difficult to actually kick away.
You'll be surprised how much easier a fliteboard is to control (especially during a touch down). If you're ever in SF look us up!
Levi - Thank you... Do you advise that we ever degrease or clean or rinse or otherwise maintain the one-way roller bearings inside the prop in a Saltwater environment?
You can take a qtip and clean them when you take it apart to grease up but it's not something that's required in saltwater use
@@BayFoils Thank you 🙌

Great comparison!
Really appreciate the detailed content. Just started with Air Pro and CruiserJet 1500. Looking forward to upgrading to a more "carvy" wing soon. You video helped immensly!!
For carving, the 254 stab is fun! Adding negative shim in front helps keep the nose down while being more stable through turns.
I have a significant amount of experience on Fliteboards (have all the boards Levi talks about - Ultra L vs Ultra). This is the single best video on this topic. It is truly about the foil, what going one above the water is all about take off (bye in large). Levi - nice work. Hope to ride with you guys the next time I am out in SF. JohnBino in the community.
In California PFD & a Whistle. I expect that the sun protection bill could cause extra neck torque from the force of water on impact.
You know I've used a billed helmet or a hat under the helmet for over 3 year and I've never jacked up my neck. But I also don't fall head first into the water so maybe idk? (really shouldn't be swan diving off an efoil headfirst to the foil).
Im happy with my ensis balz pro helmet. Fits like a second skin, perfect to adjust and have little visor for sun protection. Greetings from Germany, i like your vids!

A really strongFlite bias, Many people really like the EPP foam boards on the waydoo because it isn't prone to getting and giving scratches. Also, aren't fliteboards really loud?
Series 1 Fliteboard's in 2020 were pretty lound as they didnt have the extra damping seals that the new 2024 efoils have. Wavestorm style foam boards absolutely will get scratched/torn up or just legit broken in half plenty of images on line showing this. Plus if you are concerned with scratches and dings and keeping your board visually perfect, Fiberglass/carbon can be sanded and re-glassed super easily, Foam boards are not repairable using PU or Epoxy.
I was all set to order a set of shims but I found the shipping too expensive for such a lightweight package. No thanks
FYI efoil Solution's shop is located Hawai'i. Shipping from Oahu it the mainland is not cheap. If you have access to a 3d printer you can get the .stl files and DIY it for only $10.
AS a beginner flite board owner, I have a few comments.. I took a lesson and was not allowed to use my fliteboard in the private lake.. They let me use a Lift board and I did not notice a significant difference on either board.. My second comment is the $6,995 entry level board. How much time will a beginner rider who weighs around 200 pounds get with the Nano battery?? Maybe 20 minutes ,, because I have almost 10 hours and I get just a little bit more than 1 hour on my explorer battery.
That's a bummer about not being able to ride your Flite, but it is a private lake so you have to follow their rules. It's hard to say what ride time you'll get as there are lot's of factors other than your weight that dictate your ride time (speed, water conditions, wing selection, # of falls in your session ect). As far as noticable differences between brands for a beginner it's hard to tell as it all a new sensation, but when you have 100's hours logged things like weight difference, mast height, and motor placement are VERY noticeable. Especially if you are seeking the highest performance elite experience, Flite is the way to go. Feel free if you have more questions call or text us 415-295-2925 or email info@bayfoils.com.
10 grand…. For a surf board plus a little carbon foil and electric motor 🤨🤨
Their 7k plus a flite board has an aircraft grade aluminum mast, a huge lithium ion battery with titanium housing and BMS and there is GPS with a interconnected app to track your speed, distance, location, and wave count.
Cool! I think the folding propeller makes sense. Bit less efficiency but who doesn't want powerless swell riding!? that's gonna boost your ride time. Perhaps a 3 or 4 blade version will further improve efficiency and drag? like the foil drive
The folder prop is nice for wave riding but ultimately doesn't feel great for regular flat water riding. Luckily it's super easy to change the prop on a fliteboard for the conditions you're riding in
@@BayFoils I see. Thanks! Just about to order one. Was thinking the Air with 1500 cruiser and folding prop. Will get the guard prop too of course.
@@noobsaibot5285 🤙 you can head to www.bayfoils.com/flite-air to order, crusier jet 1500 wings are back ordered so if you want to start riding right away I would reccommend getting a crusier jet 1800 it's also easier for heavier riders to practice un powered riding and you'll get more ride time.
Yes ! I bought a used board from bay foils. Great service ! Thanks Mike and Levi - -mendo Ben 🌊
🤙🤙🤙
I will never ride one but I subscribed
We appreciate the sub, never say never! If you ever have the opportunity you should try, it's way easier than it looks! 🤙
What about Pulsar
Never heard of them, looks cool german engineering. There are alot of brands in the efoil game now. I'll have to make another video at the end of the year.
