Unless there’s written regulation there’s no regulation on Efoils. The coast guard has no regulation on Efoils at the moment 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Actually the USCG did come out with requirements in August 2022 that basically says comply with state level Numbering systems, Wear a PFD, Comply with 33 CFR 83 Inland Navigation Rules, and comply with ECOS (a non-issue for fliteboard owners). The link to the info is the Video description.
@@BayFoils yes read the statement. Line 5. Disclaimer. The guidance in this policy letter is not a substitute for applicable federal or state
legal requirements and is not a rule. The guidance in this policy letter is not intended to impose
legally-binding requirements on any party. This guidance represents the Coast Guard’s current
thinking on this topic and may assist States, the general public and the Coast Guard, in applying
statutory and regulatory requirements.
This letter is only the CG thinking. It is not legally binding on ANY Party. If the state has a it’s own regulation then you must follow. If not you’re free to shred. Take the ticket win in court every time. The Coast Guard does not have any regulation on eFoils
Would have loved some more detail on board registration in CA. Needed for riding in the Bay/ocean? More necessary in lakes?
Many state run lakes and reservoirs require registration and mussel tags. It doesn't hurt to register your board as it opens up more places for your to ride and it's super easy.
NEVER use 3rd party screws unless you know the pitch and material of the Fliteboard screws. If you get the thread pitch wrong, it’s a recipe for stripping the threads! And if you get the wrong coating of screw, it can rust and seize! Just buy spare screws from Fliteboard.
The specification for the threading and mm length are in the user manual. They are M6 x"__"mm 316 stainless (marine grade) which are readily availible most hardware store especially boat shops. The screws also do not need special coating as you are supposed to clean and reapply tefgel periodically to avoid seizing.
