Rieth my auger stopped and I did the fix you showed. Fortunately my motor was still ok. It was completely jammed tight the whole length of the auger tube with solid material. And my auger was rusty so I must have had some wet pellets somehow. I think I will seal the top of the hopper with a gasket and also drain the hopper each time in the future. Thanks, I wouldn't have figured how to get that hopper off without you. One tip - unscrew the control panel first and push it into the hopper box so no strain on the wires that way.

I drilled some holes in the lid of 2-cup tupperware container and I leave that in the hopper full of crystal cat litter. I'm using the petco's generic brand because it has no scent. The cat litter acts as a desiccant. It's kept me jam-free for three summers. I use the cat litter for woodturning, too, to speed the drying of once-turned bowls and thought it ought to help keep my pellets dry when it's humid.

Great job, thank you this was very helpful. On my model "Woodwind" I found that I didn't have to remove the bottom vent plate. Maybe this will save someone from removing a few screws if they don't need to. I was also luck in that the small bolt that hold the auger to the motor is what sheared so I was saved the expense of having to buy and wait on the delivery of a new one. Thank you again for taking the time to do this you saved me some time and heartache diagnosing and solving the issue.

thanks for posting this video - i have a similar camp chef woodwind 36 - too much accumulation of pellet dust caused a bit of a fire (KEEP YOUR PELLET GRILL CLEAN!)
afterwards, the auger wouldn't turn, although i could hear the fan running - when i took everything apart, the screw/nut that connects the auger motor to the auger wasn't there!?
I TESTED THE AUGER MOTOR - it worked! i sourced a workable replacement screw/nut, and reconnected the auger to the motor - I TESTED THE AUGER MOTOR AGAIN - it still worked, so i buttoned it all up, and i'm smoking beef ribs (cut from prime rib) right now
after watching sections of this video a few times, i didn't see a test of the auger motor, prior to putting the grill together again - no big deal, but TEST AS YOU GO to avoid some wasted time
    thanks again!

I have exact same smoker. There is clearly a flawed design of the auger. The motor is not attached with no bracket. It is completely free and only using a single panel it is laying on as a leverage when rotating. All this while the fan is attached with a bracket and 4 screws. Who would think?
